"The process was very easy. We told
our ideas and he incorporated the good ones and explain why others wouldn't work. He transformed" our small space into a beautiful new area.

-Noah C.

"My husband and I considered several kitchen options over a period of weeks before deciding to use
’s “Wood Mode.” None" of them compared with the cabinet quality, and the thoughtful, patient treatment we received from Virginia and her installers. Her prompt attention to all our questions, and expert care for details, as well as her design suggestions made the process enjoyable...and resulted in a stunning and functional kitchen that my husband and I will enjoy for years to come. Doing business with Virginis will long be remembered as a major positive experience during the renovation of our home.

Not really.  If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed.  A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place.  Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now.  The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place.  Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this.  If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall.  Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops.  If you do, dig in and research him well.  He likely doesn't have enough experience.

IF dirty enough to make for a musty odor, then paint won't stick to them properly anyway. Paint is not your solution - you probably need a Deep Cleaning. Try to pin down what types of smell it is - if damp, mildewy; rotten food; or musty fabric - will help guide you to the source maybe. Another thing to do is keep all doors closed for a full day when outside temp is such that furnace and A/C can be turned off - then walk around the house, sniffing - preferably with 2 people - and see if one room is the major contributor. I have played this game, and found all the following as sources of musty smells: 1) linen in a closet without ventilation going slightly mildewy 2) water leak in walls or floors enough to cause mold but not drywall staining or visible water 3) carpets needing cleaning 4) water leak in bath or kitchen leaking under floor, causing mold there which is not pronounced in smell because under the flooring 5) attic mildew/mold from leaks or moisture condensation on insulation/wood 6) moldy plants outside - left in garden/flower bed in fall, so rotted in winter/spring 7) clothes in closets touching outside wall, so in very cold weather acted as insulator and let freezing front come to inside of wall, causing frost and moisture to buildup there from the inside moisture, eventually causing mildew/mold (same process as condensation/ice on inside of windows with curtains over them) 8) failure to clean behind kitchen appliances and under sink, or under washer/dryer/dishwasher at least when repaired or changed out 9) heavy lint accumulation in bathroom fan going mildewy 10) grease trap in kitchen exhaust fan never cleaned 11) washing machine going moldy - run a cycle of towels or such with bleach and Borax 12) the number one cause I have found - clothes stacked in closets or hope chests or such for decades get very musty even if clean and ventilated

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.

When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

Cabinet Making reviews in Saunderstown

The job did NOT go well. Imagine paying a large sum of money on a project but having to go behind that company to improve or correct their work. This is exactly what my wife and I had to do. And I started to wipe one of the cabinets to clean it with a little soap and water on a paper towel and I wiped paint off. This scares me about the durability. And I really do not want them in my house after the way I was talked to in my last conversation. **It's a tough pill to swallow when the job you paid almost 6000$ for is incomplete and looks rough and the owner is yelling at me because I told him I was inconvenienced by their inability to complete the job in a professional and timely manner ( 14 days over). 1. Painter's tape applied by
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
pulled off or damaged brand new paint job on my trim in my kitchen/ the tape also pulled off small pieces of drywall. It is, my opinion, that
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
left the tape on longer than the manufacturer warranty. 2.. Many places hand painted by
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
had distinct brush
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and did not cover the white primer. I brought this to their attention but after many days passed and nothing changed, I repainted the crown molding (about a 12 foot length)a small portion of the desk front, and a few places that were minor touch ups. 3. I had to do the touch ups on the walls where the tape pulled off small pieces of drywall and repainted the trim where the tape pulled off paint from the kitchens framed entry way.
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
Also attempted to repainted the trim but it was a terrible attempt. 4. I had install the trim kit around the microwave after
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
forgot about it for three consecutive days. Poor communication. 5. The cabinet that was modified to hold the new double oven was incorrectly built and a +-1 inch gap was left of open space. 6. The paint job around the modified cabinet was full of missed spots/ paint splatters/small spills on the tile/ and spots where the white primer came through. 7. Numerous drips were evident in the paint job and reflected, in my opinion, a careless disinterested approach and an attitude that since they had been paid they were just trying to get out of there. I spent my weekend sanding, applying putty, and re painting the cabinet. After two weeks of
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
trying to do the job I was out of patience. 8. Too many brush
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
appear on the outside cabinets where
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
painted by hand. This finish does not match the quality of the cabinet fronts and drawers painted in the shop. 9. My wife had to install the hardware because
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was undermanned and she just wanted them to finish. The owner did offer to come the following week to attempt to repair all the mess ups. I lost confidence in them at this point after approximately two weeks of their attempts to correct at no luck. My wife and were personally offended by some of the owner's behaviors and excuses. I was tired of poor communication between members of their company and repeating the same flawed approach to painting and sanding. The results were just not appropriate for this price point. And, guess what, the guy never called again anyway. Members can email me for pictures.

It did not go very well.

After talking me into replacing my cabinets,
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
wanted to redo my kitchen her way, not my way. I actually had to talk to another kitchen company to get the design I wanted. I should have had them do the work, I think they would have saved me a lot of trouble. The other company actually
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
drawings of the layout we discussed. I did not get that from Gilmans.
I initially wanted to replace my counters and have a few minor changes done to my kitchen. The designer convinced me that I needed to replace my cabinets and not just my counters. I felt a bit rushed by
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
Casser to get the cabinets ordered.
Either she measured my cabinets incorrectly, or when she entered them into her program, my kichen grew 3" in one direction and 6" in another direction ( 105" instead of 98.5" ). Both directions are constrained by walls and neither wall could be removed. I believe, that as a result of her mismeasurements, and her rush to get me to order cabinets, this caused more issues to arrise than should have happened.
After I ordered the cabinets,
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
showed me pictures of what the wood, originally
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, would look like and suggested I change it. I am glad that she suggested I change it, and we changed it to Maple with a
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
stain. I wish she had shown me pictures of the
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
before we placed the order, rather than afterwards. So even though we put in the change order early with the cabinet company, KitchenCraft still made the cabinets with the wrong wood. I was told that the order was processed, but because of the policy at Gilmans Kitchens and Bath of charging the customer to verify the order. Because of the contractor, the cabinets sat in the warehouse until the contractor was ready to install my cabinets. If someone at Gilmans had checked the packing list against what I wanted, then we could have started the exchange process earlier. Also Gilmans charges to go to the warehouse and verify the order.
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
did work with the cabinet company to get the right cabinets ordered.
While we were waiting for the replacement cabinets to come in,
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
sat with the contractor, in my demolished kitchen, and went over a few things. One thing was that my water heater would not fit with the cabinets she ordered. She wanted to change my kichen again, but did not have proof that the changes would allow me to keep my water heater. As I had already ordered my sink and it was at my home I wanted to keep it with the larger cabinets that I had planned on keeping. This ended up with me having to replace my water heater which was in my kitchen with an on demand water heater as that is the only that would fit. This ended up be an additional expense, even though I had said I wanted to keep my water heater.
Here are things she did well:
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was helpful in getting me in touch with a Daltile saleswomen, who helped my pick out tiles for the floor.
2) Marielwas helpful in getting my cabinets ordered and for the most part working with me to get the correct cabinets.
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was helpful in getting my counters ordered
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was helpful in lighting a fire under the contractor to get him to work.
Here are a few things she is bad at, and show that she was either not listening to me or ignoring me:
1) I told her over and over that the water heater was in the corner of the kitchen, that it was new and did not want to replace it. I ended up having to replace it because she did not measure correctly.2) I told her I did not have the money to spend on a full kitchen remodel and that I wanted to spend a lot less and ended up spending about 60k between her and the contractor.3) She measured walls incorrectly and used her computer program to tell her what was right and wrong. For some reason she measured the space and got a wqall that was 98.5" as 105". This caused more issues with the cabinets as the cabinet company ended up sending a 30" cabinet instead of a 27" cabinet, however neither of them would have fit in the space with the other cabinets, we ended up having to go with a 22" cabinet instead and 1" filler by the wall.
4) She did not do a good job at verifying that things that were shipped were the correct color and sizes. 5) When the cabinet company screwed up the second time she was more interested in getting the kitchen put together with whatever was there rather than making sure I had the right cabinets and that I would be happy with the outcome. 6) She connected me with a contractor that at the beginning of this project did not perform well.
7) She was not very good at communicating things or listening to me. I told her I wanted my peninsula to be the same as it was, and that it was 96" long and 27" wide and we ended up with a peninsula that was 99" long and 25" wide. She convinced me that 27" was too wide and we went with 25". I may have to redo the peninsula if I stay in this condo for a long time.
8) She failed to tell me that the cabinets for the peninsula would have only 2 shelves instead of 4 like the rest of the cabinets I got from her. You would have thought she would have informed me of this. I either have to have someone make holes in for other shelves and order other shelves or redo the peninsula.
9) Even though I told her time after time that I wanted 1 door for my broom closet, I ended up with 2 doors and it is more of a pantry than a broom closet.
10) I asked
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
for more shelves in February, but I did not get them until May. Then when I got the shelves they were too wide and not deep enough. Again the wrong size.
11) None of the cabinets or drawers are really large enough now to store pots and pans effectively.

All in all it was a very unpleasant experience. It took more than 6 months for this project to get done and it was mainly because of the cabinet company had screwed up, however there were many misses on the part of Gilmans Kitchens and Baths.
In the end of this, they ended up giving me a check for $1000 which was part from the contractor, part from the cabinet maker and part from Gilmans. Having $1000 does not make up for the almost year that it took me to get my kitchen back.
I will NOT use this company again.

only real hiccup was the day before the granite was to be brought out and installed there was a very heavy rain that delayed the granite contractor by one day.

The provider does excellent work, however, their prices are ridiculously expensive. Unless you don't mind spending a minimum of $15,000 don't even bother. They won't even show up to take measurements or take a look at what you need done unless you have already signed a contract & have given them a deposit.

Excellent Job !!! Highly Recommend
Saunderstown Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
