"For the most part everything well. Unfortunately there was a small damage to the carpet due to one on the painter inadvertently stepping on it with paint on their" shoes. However,
, the owner, stepped up to his responsibility and replaced the damaged carpet. I would definitely use him again

"I recently moved in to a house with a partially finished attic. Most of the mechanical was done correctly but when it came to finishing
" etc I think a blind monkey that had to much coffee was let loose. I had done some patching taping and mudding but when it came time to get a finished look I was in over my head.
showed up right on time for the estimate. We looked at my situation and as politely as he could he told me what needed to be done. Not wanting to tear everything out we came up with a good solution. Get the seams a straight as possible, smooth and correct the mistakes I had made. There were weird beams coming through the walls at a couple corners. I had metal edged them and did some mudding as best I could. Now they look like beams, nice. The crew showed up Monday morning. He expected a couple guys and 5 showed. In a couple hours they were done. First coat of
mud and spackle taped edged and pretty close to smooth. Day 2 one guy came back to do the finish touchup and sanding. He did dry sanding instead of wet. There's a reason i mention this. Dry sanding in very dusty. With the work under their new work they felt this was best. a few hours and he was done. Here was the only hiccup. A cleanup crew was supposed to show up later the second day. Miscommunication or whatever no one showed.
did come by to check the work and when I told him no clean up crew had been there you should have seen his face. Shock and panic. We went up stairs checked the work that had been done and
was on his phone going down the driveway. 8 Am the next day
's number one guy was there and cleaned that 20 x 20 room for 4 hours. Wiped everything down and on his hands and knees vacuumed every inch of the floor to minimize any dust being tracked. Impressive I think how you deal with a problem when it pops up shows how truly professional you are. I am writing this review from my new studio loft that
and his crews made happen. Thanks for everything
, great work Oh yeah I gave him a B on price but if you calculate the working man hours it was actually a fair price.

Drywall and plaster

Knowing how your interior walls are constructed and what they are made of can help you take better care of your home, as well as provide effective maintenance. You can make small repairs yourself, but the more extensive the job the more likely you'll need a drywall repair contractor to make the wall smooth again.

Are those small Styrofoam balls on your ceiling bugging you? You can remove them yourself, or hire a drywall pro.

These service providers are your best bet to patch drywall or plaster holes that plumbers, electricians and other service providers may create while working.

Dear Angie: Who can I hire to remove a popcorn ceiling? How is it done and what will it cost? — Jonathan H. of Woodland Hills, California, and Marcia E. of Altamonte Springs, Florida

Medium-sized holes can be patched in much the same way as smaller holes, but will require a patching kit to ensure a smooth finish. (Photo by Eldon Lindsay)

You may prefer the lived-in look, but a hole in the wall makes your home look a little too lived in. A pro tells how to repair a hole yourself and save money.

Angie's Answers

?
My sister-in-law uses brite white toothpaste and rubs it into those small holes. No prep, no sanding.
?

I've used wall liner (it applies like wallpaper only thicker) to cover a multitude of "wall sins" over the years. In my opinion it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it's inexpensive, non-labor intensive and not messy to install.

I used it for the first time about 15 years ago to cover a faux brick tile on my lower kitchen walls that couldn't be removed. It was either tear the wall down or take a chance on $40 worth of wall liner. It did the job beautifully and lasted. Since then I've used it to cover paneling, a badly gouged wall after a kitchen remodel and a wall that looked like a pegboard after floor to ceiling shelving was removed.

Friends and family (and realtors!) have been amazed by the transformation after applying this simple inexpensive product.

?

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

was very nice and did a great job! He protected everything in the work area and cleaned up well. Spent one day installing additional screws and ensuring everything was secure and then taping and mudding. He then came in the following day and sanded everything ready for paint. He did excellent work for us and was great to work with. Only downside is it took a couple of weeks from when he did the estimate to when he could perform the work, since he was so busy.

was super friendly and seemed knowledgable about what he was doing. He was precise about this work and took care not to make a mess, dropping cloths and wearing shoe covers to not track dust. He was available quickly, responsive and did an excellent job. No complaints at all -- bathroom looks great and is functioning well. Will hire again for similar projects.

We're selling our older raised ranch home and buyer asked for the garage ceiling to be covered with fire rock & fire tape based on the inspection. We scheduled 3 bids and out of the 3,
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
's was the most prompt, thorough and realistic. I left at least a dozen messages with different companies, most of which didn't call me back, but I got ahold of
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
immediately. He actually bothered to answer his phone as he was on his way between jobs and asked me to text him my address/contact info. He promised to contact me asap to schedule the estimate, and followed through. He knew we were selling our house within 4 weeks and were in a hurry, and he scheduled the estimate with us within 2 days in spite of his busy schedule. He even had to drive from a job in Olathe to
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to do the free estimate.
The estimate went very well; he was about an hour behind the scheduled time due to running a little behind on a job and the driving distance, but gave us plenty of head's up. He was the only one of the 3 who spent some time actually measuring out the ceiling for the
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, gave us some suggestions on how to deal with the garage door openers that were in the way (and recommended a good company to contact for that.) He also took into account the HVAC ductwork, door frame and pipes for his measurements/bid. The other two didn't bother with that. He did some math in front of us and gave us a pretty realistic quote right then and there. Another one grossly overbid us, and the third seemed suspiciously cheap and was in and out a little too fast for our liking.
He also promised to make sure his crew would be able to get the work done before we had to close on the house; the other two were a little more non-committal about that.
We ended up lucking out and got our buyer to sign a waiver so that we didn't end up having to do the
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
job, but the fast responses and great communication that I received from
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, combined with his thoroughness on the bid and the fact that he's just a nice human being in general, means that I will definitely seek his services out in the future should I need to have
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
work done.

Top notch work!
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and team were extremely professional with example setting punctuality. I wish all contractors were as punctual as he and his team are. They put up
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
in 2 days and spent another 3.5 days mudding. They just finished the job and it looks great. He used good materials too (he supplied everything). He pointed out areas of the stud framing that were not straight and explained how he was able to overcome that with creative sheetrocking. I have already recommended
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to my father-in-law who is also looking to finish a basement. Excellent work! Additionally I should note that

He repaired the hole with new drywall in about two hours. That included a trip to the store to purchase the drywall. My walls are old. They are plaster and have a texture to them. He created a texture to the new area that blends in perfectly with the old.

and
Pawtucket Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
repaired some sheetrock that was under old panelling in our family room. They taped and mudded the sheetrock, then made a beautiful, smooth, paintable surface. They really did well in making sure there were no visible seams between the regular wall and the new mud. They also repaired some bad spots in our entryway where the previous owner had taken down wallpaper and scarred the walls. They were right on time, they were very clean and tidy for a very messy job, they kept us aware of the progress of the job, and they really cleaned up after themselves. They even gave me some tips on how to paint the walls so the patch and repair jobs wouldn't be noticeable. I will recommend them to friends and family as well as use them in the future if we need to. They did an awesome job!
