"I had a root canal performed by Dr.
, Jr. on the morning of Monday, August 10, 2015. I had received a referral slip a week earlier from" my regular dentist and we had elected to “give it a week” to see if it improved and it didn’t. So, I called the main number at
at 8:00 AM Monday morning to discuss my situation. To my pleasant surprise, they had an appointment with the business founder available in
at 9:30 AM the same day. It is about a 20 minute drive each way. I was home a little after 11:00 AM. Dr.
is a true gentleman who treated me with respect and informed me completely at all stages. I was in the chair within ten minutes of the appointment time. After a radiograph by his extremely efficient assistant, Dr.
did some sensitivity tests, went over the radiograph with me, explained what was going on in that tooth and explained the procedure. I probably waited ten minutes for the local anesthesia to take effect. About half way through the procedure, Dr.
took a break for about ten minutes---and that was a break I desperately needed! Including the evaluation, waiting to get numb and the procedure, I was in the chair about an hour. I would recommend this practice, and Dr.
, personally to anyone without reservation. The cost was in keeping with typical costs for this procedure, but perhaps less than I expected to pay. I hope I never need another root canal but if I did, I would go back to Dr.
.

"He is a great dentist. We’ve been using his practice for a year now. He is very competent and very friendly. He is just a good dentist. He is a full on dentist." He has a really nice friendly office and the receptionist is very nice.

I am familiar witht he ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers across the country, in particluar, the one in Overland Park, KS.  They are a "one stop" implant center.  The doctors there are at the top of their field, and an advantage is that you have all of the specialists that will be working with you in the same place.  That would have to make communication easier between doctors.  They usually offer seminars for patients and I think, offer free consultations, which is always worthwhile.

If you chose to go the other way, some Prosthodontists will place and restore the implants themselves. In other cases, an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will place the implant and a Prosthodontist or General Dentist restores it.   Fees can vary quite a bit from office to office and with the different options for restorative materials.  Some offer free consultations, for others, they charge a fee that might be applied to any future treatment in some cases.

The first step is to schedule a few consultations with different providers, which it sounds like you've already done.

The most important factors when deciding which practitioner to work with:
:
.1.  You should feel comfortable asking your doctor any questions so that you have a good understanding of the procedure itself, healing time and long-terem outcome, and possible complications.  Write down a list of questions and take them with you to the consultation.

2.  Ask about the experience of the practitioner. How many similiar procedures have they completed?  Have they had any major complications with any cases?  Ask to see photos if possible.

3..Figure out if it works out better for your schedule, to go to a "one stop" provider or to separate providers for the placement and the restoration of the implants.

4. Follow your instincts.  If you feel rushed, didn't get direct answers to your questions, didn't communicate well or had any other negative feelings, this probably isn't the doctor for you.

5. Consider insurance coverage and financing options.  If your dental plan covers implants and it is important to you to use a preferred provider, you will want to check your list.  Many times, insurance does not cover implants, or at least not all of the steps.  You may want to inquire about payment and financing options.

I hope this at least helps you feel a little less confused and a little more directed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.
Sincerely,
Beth L. Gehring,DDS, PC

As a  Dentist, I am sorry to hear about your denture nightmare and I know how frustrating that can be.  I am surprised that your doctor wasn't willing to work with you on some type of solution.  A few options would be either remaking the dentures once more,  or offering to return some of the money and have you return the dentures.   Unfortunately, the doctor has put in a lot of their time and lab expenses, but the patient also  has time and money invested.  You might try sending a letter re-explaining the problems you hand and offering an acceptible and fair solution.  Be sure to keep a copy of it and any correspondence you receive from the Dental Office.  In the event that you don't get anywhere, you have documentation of the problem.

At any point in the process, did they have you sign something saying you were happy with the denture set up?  Some practitioners will document the patient's acceptance at the try-in appointment, before the denture is processed.  At that time, changes in tooth arrangement, size and color can be made with minimal lab expense.

If the letter doesn't get you anywhere, you might try going to the governing body of the dental profession in your area.  I am a dentist in Blue Springs, Missouri, USA.  Here, we have the Missouri Dental Board  (or the Dental Division of the Missouri Department of Professional Registration.)  This is the entity that licenses us to perform our professional duties in our state.  They often have a process to file complaints against a provider if you were unable to resolve the problem yourself.   After your complaint is received, they will contact the doctor to get their side of the story, then try to mediate a solution between the two parties.

As far as a new set of dentures, you might seek out the services of a Prosthodontist (specializes in dentures and removable appliances - extra training and certification beyond general dentistry) or go to a local dental school.  The students are supervised and checked off at each step by professionals.  Most dental schools also treat patients through their faculty practices, and you can often get the services of a specialist at a lower price.

I hope this information is helpful to your situation, and I wish you well.

Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
was excellent about answering all of my questions, which was very important to me as I knew nothing about what was involved with a root canal procedure. His staff persons were extremely helpful and friendly. I especially appreciated the help of his office manager in answering all my questions about the procedure, cost, payments process, etc. She answered my questions patiently and with much compassion. Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
was very clear that the procedure might require two visits due to calcification. However, as it turned out, he was able to complete the root canal procedure in one visit. He and his assistant were extremely attentive and reassuring during the procedure, which took about 1.5 hours. His assistant was excellent about answering my questions, making sure that I was comfortable, and taking great care to confirm that the administered Novacain was adequate so that I would not feel pain during the procedure. Other than discomfort with the administration of the Novacain, I was not in any pain during the root canal procedure. Afterward, I was pain free and did not require use of pain medications. Since that time, I have experienced no tooth or gum pain. The procedure was effectively and relatively painlessly done. I was very happy with how it all went. I would highly recommend Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
to others for the root canal procedure.

Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
is such a caring, professional doctor. He performed a root canal on my tooth for which I was in severe pain. I've been to Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
for a total of three times and every time has been an extremely good experience. I would highly recommend him.

Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
was extremely kind, compassionate, patient, professional and a very good communicator. He explained each and every step of how a root canal is done, and he continually made sure I was not in any pain during the procedure. If i had any sign of pain he immediately addressed it and gave me additional pain medication during the procedure. I had two root canals many years ago and I was apprehensive about having this done again. This was the easiest root canal that i ever had done. I would recommend Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
100%. Also his office staff are very kind and compassionate and very willing to work with you about appointments and insurance coverage etc.

I think Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
is probably good at what he does, but I am not so sure about patient communication. After the first phase of a root canal treatment, Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
sent my x-rays to my regular dentist. Between the 1st and 2nd phase of the root canal treatment, I visited my regular dentist for a routine hygiene appointment and learned that Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
had included a comment to him that my tooth was fractured. As a result, and on the advice of my dentist, I canceled the second appointment with Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
and made an appointment with an oral surgeon for an extraction. This is the only option with a cracked or fractured tooth.
What concerns me is that I learned of this cracked tooth from my dentist, not from Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
. What if I had not had a hygiene appointment? Would Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
have proceeded with a root canal, that was doomed to failure? Would Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
have counseled me to extract rather than proceed? Even in that scenario, valuable time would have been lost to get an appointment for extraction and to relieve severe dental pain.
I would advise patients to be well informed and ask lots of questions rather than depend on the doctor to provide all the information required to make an informed decision.

Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
was just about painless! Even the initial shots to deaden my tooth didn’t hurt. It was not a comfortable procedure, I had my jaw open wide for over an hour, but it was not painful. Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
is a quiet man as he works, but before every drill, he would say, “This is going to make a soft grinding noise”, or “This is going to be noisy”. The chair in which I sat was comfortable, his waiting room, rest room, and work space is immaculate, and the music playing was quiet enough to not be obnoxious. My
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
tooth had three roots, and as it is located in the very back of my mouth, I expected to be in pain or discomfort the morning after, but I was not. I had a minor
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
in my jaw, in front of my ear; it was just enough to take a couple Advil.
I would recommend Dr
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
without reservation. How I feel this morning is directly related to his skill in endodontics. He saved my tooth!

They explained what they were doing along the way and as the Dr. was doing the work he would tell me what they were doing next. I don't think it took over an hour and once the numbing wore off, there was some soreness but no real pain. They were great and while hopefully, I won't need another root canal, if I did I would definitely return to Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
and I will recommend him to everyone I know.

When Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
was the treating dentist, it was great. However, the last 2 times I went, I was given his associate. I do not like his associate or the services. He was disrespectful of my latex allergy and then was mad at me when I had trouble breathing during my cleaning when after he had taken latex gloves off in the room. Happened both times.
I have not gone back because I couldn't get assurances that I would get Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
.
If you can get assurances that you'll get Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
, he's a very good dentist. He's also kind and patient.

I was having pain in one molar, and the dentist confirmed I needed a root canal. The dentist recommended Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
. As this was close to the
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
4th holiday, I had to wait over a week for the appointment. However, the receptionist did tell me if my tooth got worse, they would make sure to get me in on an emergency basis. I was able to get by until the appointment, so I did not need to do this.
I did not have a long wait in the lobby, and once I was seated, Dr.
York Endodontists Provider Name Locked
and his assistant were very efficient. Root canals are never pleasant, but they worked quickly yet carefully. I have had no issues with the tooth since then, and I'm very grateful to the doctor and his staff for eliminating the source of my pain!
