Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

Countertop Installation reviews in Uniontown

Turned out miserably and unfinished. Marble subway tiles not flush. Grout and mastic all over the tiles, my new granite counters, appliances, and hardwood floors. Was advised the grout, receptacle, and tile issues were minor and a return visit would be coordinated. 12 days later I hired another contractor to come clean the "mess". No return visit and no effort to correct the issues. Very disappointed. Would not recommend or refer this contractor.

It went very well. The work was done as promised. The people were easy to work with and very helpful in answering questions and offering ideas. We had to call to find out when the next steps would be performed as we went along, but that was not a big issue for us.
- Carolyn E.

We had a very small project, it was a very small countertop with an under mount sink. We went to the showroom to find a cheap price remnant, we worked with
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
at the showroom and she worked with us to get to a good value for our small project. We are very satisfied using Absolute and ended up saving over $100.

We waited 10 years to upgrade our kitchen counters and put a lot of effort into choosing what we thought was the best company to do the job on a budget. Based on the quote and Angie's list reviews, we chose to go with
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
. Their website have us the impression that they are a highly professional establishment; our experience was did not reflect that.
· The staff person we worked with was pleasant
· The owner was quick to remedy the many problems we had
· The overall price was reasonable
· Quote was based off a square footage estimate that we had to provide (which was not accurate – no surprise there); company did not come out to do an accurate measurement until after we signed agreement to hire them. The cost ended up being more than original quote.
· They gave us a window of days and no specific time of when they would come do the work. We happened to be on vacation the week they said they could do the work. We tried to reschedule the work date, but were told we’d get bumped out considerably. We ended up cutting our vacation short to rush home to get meet the workers who were lounged on our front lawn waiting for us!
· Communication was terrible – I had to probe and push to get accurate and timely information. Might have been a language
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
or maybe just poor communication skills on their part. Caused for a very frustrating experience.
· We ended up having to have the workers come out on 3 separate occasions, post initial job, to get the work done right! The initial workers were terribly sloppy and unprofessional.
1. They failed to c*** the seal along the backsplash and wall
2. They chipped part of the backsplash and filled it in with epoxy – looked really terrible
3. They had to come back to sand down and polish the seam that was very poorly done.
4. We were not warned that the main counter would have two separate slabs.
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
’s explanation was that it was too big to get into our house. I
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
’t buy excuse since another company that had come and given us an on-site quote said that there’d be no problem getting one solid slab installed. Pretty sure
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was just trying to use up a remnant slab.
5. The slab patterns did not match – one was darker than the other and the speckles in the granite varied from one slab to the other. It was as if they didn’t’ even try to match the two pieces of granite. One of the slabs had significantly more large blemishes in the stone than the other side, which made it more obvious that there was a seam.
6. The seam finish was uneven and rough to the touch
Our experience may just be one bad apple in the bunch, but based on our experience I do no recommend
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
and will not use them again. Our final product is acceptable, but we do not feel we got the best looking counters considering the amount of money we spent.

I contacted them through their website and someone called me the same day.
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
came out the day after to do a quote and i went ahead and payed materials that same day.
The cabinets took a few weeks to arrive and a little while to be installed.
afterwards the granite came in and to be honest, i didn't think at first i would be happy, but for the price, i got an amazing kitchen!
They then sent someone out to do the backsplash. once it was completed i paid them the rest of the labor.
They didn't ignore me, and tried to fix my nitpicked spots.
overall i am quite satisfied.

My wife and I were installing a built-in into our dining room and needed to get a small (9 sq. ft.) counter top to go over the base
cabinets. We looked around and found that many places required a minimum dollar amount or square footage that
exceeded what we wanted to spend or our counter top area.
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
responded to our Angie’s list inquiry almost immediately. We talked to
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
over the phone and explained what we were trying to do and what we needed. We went out to their showroom/factory and looked at pieces of granite that fit our space. It was ready within a few days and we chose
to pick it up to help save on some of the cost as it is a smaller piece (I do not recommend picking it up for any piece larger than this one, the granite is heavy).
The piece was cut to our exact dimensions and it installed perfectly. We are thrilled with not only how it looks but also with the attention to detail and time that
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
took with us, especially given the small size and overall dollar value of this piece. He wanted to make sure that it fit correctly and even said that if there are any issues to bring it back and he would cut it where necessary. We are thrilled with the end result, and also the pricing. We would definitely use

Because of well-documented evidence (and a class-action lawsuit) regarding the occurrence of spontaneous leaks with polybutylene plumbing, we decided to have our entire house re-plumbed before we were faced with a leak which could cause major damage. Since the job would include not only plumbing work, but also sheetrock repair, some tile repair (to re-plumb our tub), and repainting, I felt that it would best to hire a general contractor. We also decided to have our hot water heater relocated from the attic to the garage at the same time. Of the 4 contractors we requested estimates from,
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
was the only one who came out with his plumber (
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
) to look at the job. Together, they looked through the entire house, from crawl space to the attic, to try to figure out the existing plumbing (which, of course, is not visible, except for kitchen and bathroom fixtures) and work out a plan to tie into those lines and where new lines would be placed. Before they left, and before I had an estimate, I had a pretty good idea of where demolition was going to be needed, and what to expect in the way of any inconveniences while work was in progress.
The work started and ended on the agreed-upon dates (the end date was a bit of an estimate, but turned out to be exactly what was planned).
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
seemed to be a bit of a perfectionist, which was fine by me. He plumbed the house to improve the flow of hot water so that it (hot water) would get to the most distant parts of the house more quickly than previously. The guys who cut the sheet rock (walls and ceiling in various rooms throughout the house) did an amazing job keeping the dust to a minimum ... same with the sheet rock repair after the plumbing work was completed. We had only 36 hours without water ... we've had worse experiences post some of the hurricanes here over the last 20 years. Over a period of 9 working days, we experienced only 2 issues, one of which was truly quite minor, when I was told that insulation under the house, which had been removed to access and replace some of the existing old piping, had been put back with new fiberglass
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
that I had supplied, and I was asked to inspect that portion of the job ... I found that a section in the crawl space under the first floor, had been left completely without any fiberglass
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
and was completely exposed to the outside ambient temperatures. I'm still baffeled as to how/why the worker who was on that part of the job could have felt that it was ok to leave that area without any insulation.
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
, upon seeing it, obviously agreed that that part of the job would need to be re-done, which was far more difficult to do than what it probably seems like to the reader (for reasons not worth explaining), but re-done it was, I think the next day, the correct way. Second issue which we experienced concerned replacement of some tile which had to be cut out in order to reach the plumbing for our master bathroom tub. The replacement tiles which
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
had obtained were not a very good color match for what was already in place. My concern is not so much the color mis-match itself, as it is that I was not told that they were unable to find a better color match until the guy doing the tiles was already putting them into place. I would have much preferred to know about it ahead of time, than find out after the tile guy was about to put the off-color tiles in place. Speaking with
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
about it, he indicated that he had done a thorough
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
in the New
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
area, trying to find a better color match, but also stated that if I could find tiles that were a better color match, he would be more than willing to come back and have them installed, with the cost of that work included in the original contract price. Much to my surprise, I was able to find some tiles which do have a closer color match ... they come from a well known business here in New
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
, so I do have to wonder why
Uniontown Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
wasn't able to find them himself. (???) Nevertheless, they are being installed today, 3.5 months after the job was initially begun. All the workers were quite considerate of our presence while they did they work, they cleaned up every day, and I had no real concerns regarding their activity or presence while we tried to go about our daily lives around them. All in all, the work went quite will, with much less disruption of our daily routines than what I had expected. Overall grade would be an A minus (minus, because of the tile issue).
- William S.

This company is great! First, the price was very good. From the owner to the workmen, they were all professional and very courteous. I would highly recommend them.
