and his crew arrived right on time and got to work. The entire job was completed in about 2 hours. The cypress trees were against a neighbor's" fence, next to a large row of shrubs and close to a screen porch. The removal did no damage to any of the adjacent plants or structures. They cleaned up all the debris. I'd use
again without reservation.

"They worked in a professional coordinated manner. They seemed to have all the state of the art equipment. It was incredible to watch. They efficiently removed" the trees and during the process discovered a problem with one of our maples.
immediately brought it to our attention and discussed our options. We truly respected his knowledge. During
visit when he prepared our estimate' we were very impressed with his knowledge of the trees. He could not remove some roots because it would damage the tree. He noted an infestation in one tree and a severe crack in one large limb. He pointed out some invasive plants and recommended ways to address the issues. They cut all the logs into 18 inch segments and cleaned up the yards before leaving. In all respects, it was a pleasure having them work at our home. We feel the cost was very reasonable and the results were outstanding.

4 Situations Where You Need a Professional Tree Trimmer

Not sure if you should trim your own trees? Sometimes your tree problem is best left to a pro whose is trained in maintenance and other complex issues.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

Unless the contract stated they were to remove the neighbor's portion at the neighbor's expense it's your bill.  You simply stated they were to remove the portion on the neighbor's side also, not who would pay for it by what I'm reading, even if that was your intention.

Another route to take:  Technically you should be able to file a claim with your neighbor's insurance for the damage done by the tree and possibly for the removal of the tree including the portion not affecting you.  They may deny the second part but if they pay for damages in addition to the coverage by your insurance you've been reimbursed.  Don't take more than the $650 and keep all records so you aren't accused of insurance fraud.  Unless the bill was broken into 2 parts stating which amount was for the removal on your side and which side was theirs their insurance probably won't argue much about only paying part of the bill.  Talk to your agent about how to best approach this.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

we asked that the wood be left for our use. they went above and beyond by assisting us with piling branches and general cleanup of fallen debris. they also cut the trees into manageable rounds. we've used them several times over the past few years; we also recommended them to our neighbor who also was very pleased with their work. we had a very difficult 100-foot

that they had to drop between others; it was a windy day and
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
dropped that tree right where we all needed it to be, I was very impressed! we have also had

The owner initially came to my home, punctually, to provide an estimate. He inspected the dead tree that was near my fence and a gas outside light. (This made the job a little more challenging since I wanted no damage to either item.) We then surveyed my yard and he suggested what needed to be done for the other trees. At no time did I sense that he was suggesting work that did not need to be done. He answered all of my questions in a patient and informative way.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was not the only bidder that I had contacted.
The crew came to my home on the day scheduled. On that day, they kept me informed of the expected time of arrival. The 3 (4?) person crew worked industriously, expertly, and conscientiously. Everything went well. Near the end of the job, the team leader reviewed with me what he had done and we walked around the yard allowing me to inspect the job. I was fully satisfied.
They left my yard in perfect shape (or, at least in the shape it was in when they arrived!) with no refuse on my lawn.
The invoice and the estimate were exactly the same. I am completely satisfied with the job and with my interactions with the owner and his excellent staff.
I gave the price an A rating as it is was competitive with other bidders. Of course, I would have liked the job to cost half of what it did cost. Given the effort involved, that is likely an impossible expectation.
To the

staff: Thanks for a job well done! And thanks for being so easy to work with.

First day (Tuesday 9/15)

, Kathee
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and another worker showed up and removed several large branches on 1 tree and removed brush (5 hrs) Next day (Wednesday) didn't show up! No call. Following day (Thursday) showed up and stood and watched power company take down one of the trees that was close to the power lines down below the hazard area. (No charge by power company). Removed remaining 15 feet of

of rain, we were told that if it didn't rain they would be back to work during the non-raining time. (Rained overnight) No Show, No Call. Week 2, Monday showed up at 830, I asked why they weren't here on Friday and was told by
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
the trees were wet she was reminded that she told us they would be back as long as it wasn't raining. They proceeded to cut 2 remaing large branches after power company came and disconnected service drop to the house. Cut and dropped the remaing

(40 ft) cut into approximately 6-8 ft pieces and left it on the front lawn. A leaf blower was used to blow all sawdust into the street at the end of the driveway and was left there for us to clean up. One small load of brush was taken when they left before noon and didn't return. Originally they were supposed to work on the one remaining tree in the back yard after dropping the tree with the service drop issue, but permission from the neighbor needed to be obtained before I would allow them to drop the tree

into the neighbors yard due to clearance with the location next to our house. (fence boards needed to be removed also). No topping or trimming was even attempted on this tree before they left. Thursday 9/22 Contacted
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
via text message and advised him that I received permission from the neighbor to utilize their yard and remove the fence panels as requested. No response. 11 am they showed up and began working on the last tree. ( I was at work) While working tools were being thrown in the yard and

was obviously mad. Tree was taken down in dropped in my back yard in one large 30 ft section and a several smaller ones leaving a 4 ft

32 inches in diameter at the base remaining. Brush was hauled away and remainder was left. 4:30 Kathee came to the door and requested final payment. My wife told here that payment would be made when work was finished.(3 of 4 stumps ground down). Kathee returned and stated that
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
said that wasn't part of the price and they weren't leaving until payment was made. My wife and Kathee talked about an alternative and came to a written agreement that they would return in 2 weeks to remove the 3 stumps. October 08, 2015 date that was agreed to finish. NO SHOW! NO CALL ! BE AWARE, THEY WILL NOT RETURN TO FINISH THE JOB!

After watching our favorite White Oak tree - center piece of the front yard -
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
it branches in high winds over the last two years we were still surprised when we walked out one morning to find it totally dead. Brown from the bottom to the top - overnight. Unfortunately this turned the day before high winds were projected and we departed for Alaska. Nothing we could do but hope it didn't hit the neighbor's house on the way down! Thinking we were still away, a neighbor contacted
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
& Stump Service for work of their own and an estimate for our dead tree. We happen to have arrived in the middle of the night so we were able to discuss both the dead tree and the Sweet Gum.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
presented an estimate for the White Oak on the spot and agreed to send an estimate for the additional Sweet Gum. He did what he said he would, when he said he would do it and included a copy of his insurance with both estimates. An excellent way to start.
The job was scheduled for today and the team, to include
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
(the owner), appeared right on time with all the necessary equipment. Within thirty minutes they were up and running. The Sweet Gum was taken first and I was extremely impressed with not only the proficiency of team but the safety measures throughout the whole process -- tree climber/cutter tied and cabled in with lead lines below and a spotter, hearing protection, face/eye protection, heavy "chaps" when cutting, ropes for slowing the fall of the large limbs and
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
parts, and area cleared when portions were felled. To ensure the yard was not destroyed Mr.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
chose to
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
plastic mats across the grass for backing the trailer closer instead of using a machine that would have easily picked up the logs and carried them to the trailer but would have destroyed the yard. The team hauled or rolled the branches and logs by hand. Backbreaking work. This tree was not ground due to not wanting to risk cutting the roots of the Black Gum trees on either side of the Sweet Gum. The backyard was cleared and cleaned completely before they began on the front yard White Oak.
The process was repeated for the White Oak but included cutting the limbs to fireplace sized logs and loading into my truck bed. I had hoped for more wood out of it but without splitting any I am satisfied with what I did get. Again, the yard was cleared and cleaned completely. To get the equipment closer to the job sites the neighbors allowed the team the use of their driveway for the day. That too was cleared of any evidence that they had been there -- even better than when they arrived!
Summary: Mr.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and the team are all professional and personable. They do what they say they're going to do when they say they're going to do it. They work as a team with the owner working side by side with them. They are also insured (verified with the insurance company) and that is a huge plus when it comes to my property.
The final question should be: would I hire them again? I hope I don't have to but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

This was our second time using
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and like the first time we had a great experience. From the estimate to the great cleanup it was a smooth experience. Would not hesitate to use them again.
- Carol L.

After walking the yard with me to get the work list, he said he would have me an estimate by phone that day. No call, so I called him twice over the next few days... left messages both times. No response at all.
This is the first time I've drawn a zero response from an Angie's List vendor.
- Alfred A.

They showed up on time and proceeded with the work in a very professional manner. After the trees were removed, the yard was cleaned up and raked to match the existing grade. I would definitely hire them again.
