"the work was performed expertly and every trimming was hauled away and the property cleaned of debris. I felt that the main person doing the cutting was overly familiar.

"We had a somewhat complex project for the landscaping of our property. Nick took us to a property where he was landscaping a back yard. We were impressed with his work and decided" to hire him. He also took us out to a nursery to pick out the trees and bushes. Nick and his crew were very professional, on time and hard working. Nick is an excellent landscape contractor with significant experience in landscape design and installation, and a flair for turning artistic expression into reality. He is very knowledgeable in the types and species of plants, trees and bushes, which look best and which will best survive in the summer heart and winter frosts. He and his crew did an excellent job of installation of the landscaping, which involved placement of rock and boulders, a beautiful dry creek bed in the front yard, irrigation valve, back-flow preventer, irrigation water lines, and the low voltage lighting fixture placement. He used the best materials, which will require less maintenance and will last longer. He installed 3 spaghetti irrigation tubes for each of the large trees (2 deep and one surface) and 2 spaghetti tubes for the smaller trees and some bushes. System testing of the automatic irrigation and lighting systems were successfully performed. A couple of minor adjustments were made to the design as the work progressed to improve the looks and functionality of the landscaping, including additional lighting. My wife and I highly recommend Scape Tech for the design and installation of landscaping.

"I will say the experience with
was exceptional. They provided me with an estimate within two hours of contacting them. That estimate came in well below the other" estimate we received from an Angie's List company, and my wife and I never thought twice about not using them.
was very professional and spoke as if he had been doing that work for a very long time. They moved very fast and the work was done very professionally. They had the work completed and cleaned up within a few hours. I would highly recommend them, and I already have to several people, and I will go to them again if I ever need work done.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

Check trees before winter weather hits. A certified arborist can evaluate trees for potential hazards, says Kingzette. (Photo by Eldon Lindsay)

Tree Service

If a tree on your property requires a professional tree-removal service, use the following factors to help estimate how much you should expect to pay before workers start revving up their chainsaws.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

The owner explained in detail the different options available with a price for each and what I can expect to see when the work is

completed. The options being 50%, 70%, 90% with its own price which was not only much better than the other 2 estimates but was

presented with clarity and care. Originally I chose 70% but decided on 90%. Im pretty sure 100% is also available.

His crew seemed to work non stop and at days end each day the yard was always cleared of debris
.
Finally when finished, my trees and yard could have been in a YARD BEAUTIFUL MAGAZINE.

We were rained out for the actual job a couple times but someone came to walk through the job with me prior to that so we were all set.

Mr.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was prompt and professional and the work was completed quickly. I thought his price was very reasonable. He has a machine that looks a bit like a giant remote control car that he simply places on the stump and it grinds the wood into tiny particles. I would definitely hire him again.

I called
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
on 08/19 requesting an estimate to treat a River Birch with insect infestation and to prune my neighbor's Maple tree from over my house. I had catepillars eating the leaves from the River Birch, as well as some insects mining in a wound in the

of the tree.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
investigated the problem while I wasn't home and e-mailed me an estimate on 08/21 which I needed to approve in part or in whole. I approved all parts of the estimate which included pruning my neighbor's Maple tree ($239.00), and treating my River Birch tree with a foliar application ($125.00), soil amendments ($120.00), and

injections ($100.00).
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
responded that the approval was received and it could take 3 or 4 weeks for most of the work to be done but the feeding insects had to be treated immediately.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
did the foliar application on 08/25, the soil amendments and

injections on 10/02, and the tree pruning on 10/15.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
sent me 3 seperate invoices after each service was rendered.
Transfer Tree Services Provider Name Locked
did most of the work when I was not home, I had authorized them to do the work at their convenience. I was home on 10/15 for the pruning, which may have been fortunate because they needed to figure out how to get their large equipment into my back yard. This was not a problem because I had a gate they could enter. All debris from the pruning was removed. I am very pleased with their work.
