Roofing Reviews in State College

The company was prompt in coming to give an estimate. Worked around our vacation schedule. Arrived on time, got right to work and were finished before noon. The window looks great, like it has always been there.

Within a couple of days of submitting a request for an estimate via email, we were contacted via phone by
. His estimate included everything we asked about. The instructions on how to accept the estimate were very clear (sign and mail back with a 1/3 down payment.) We soon received a letter acknowledging receipt of the down payment and clear contact information. The work was not scheduled for another 5-6 weeks but we were not in a rush, so that was okay with us. After the date was scheduled, everything happened very quickly. Crew and materials arrived soon after 7am and roof was done by soon after 1pm. It was an extremely hot day, but they worked fast and hard. All old roofing materials were collected in a dumpster supplied by the contractor. Downspouts and gutter screens were installed a couple of days later --again, all on the same day as was scheduled.
As promised, material warranty and work guarantee materials were sent to us for our documentation.
Based on promptness of estimate and then, the work being done as agreed, we will use

Crew of four men who were very diligent, professional and got the job done right. They did a excellent job. The roof looks tremendous and they are perfectionist. The supervisor came out and checked on the work as well. They took a magnet and went over the surrounding area to make sure there were no left over nails. They cleaned up very well. They even did extra work by putting shingles on a bay window. Checked all the gutters and found one that was clogged up and they unclogged it at no charge. They replaced all the flanges, took off the satellite dish and put in back in the same spot afterward and the TV service is still working fine. I would highly recommend them.

First interviewed at Central Pennsylvania Builders Show. Interviewed several vendors and had them come out to the house. Not the cheapest estimate, but seemed very professional. It turned out they were! Good work attitude, started early, and quite neat in the workplace. Main frustration was not knowing what day or week they would come. But I guess that's true of any construction work. I have recommended them to several neighbors.

We were referred to
State College Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
Roofing by a real estate agent when we needed an estimate on replacing the porch roof during a house purchase. We were satisfied with the estimate and Mr.
State College Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
offered a lifetime warranty on their work. This seemed more than reasonable. We offered the work to Mr.

and he visited the house to work out the details. I did not keep a journal, but this seemed about early May. He provided the dimensions of the present skylight when I said I wanted to replace them due to their age and being outdated. I was told to find replacement skylights at a local supplier, based on the dimensions I was given. In the following weeks I selected similar

mounted design, about a foot longer with similar width. I called and left messages about the size I selected to make sure it would work, and received no response. This was one of several phone messages I left with Mr.

about the job and the skylights. Then one evening we received a call saying the crew would arrive the next day. We were in the process of moving our things in and I stopped by to find the crew already at work about 8:30 or so the next day. Apparently, Mr.

had given his directions and left. He was not available. It was not until the crew left when they finished the job the next day that I saw that the new skylights were installed with their base at the same location as the smaller ones they replaced, and they came up all they way up to the level of the soffet inside the porch. They were not mounted on center but were "pushed up",to the upper end of the porch ceiling. This was not what I had in mind. I was not involved in this decision and it was not possible to see all of what they were doing until they were done, because they did not do any inside work and the porch inside panel obscured where the upper end of the skylight would be located. This was not what I wanted and I was never asked. Also, if there was a problem with the skylights I ordered for the job I was never informed. And there was no fixing the problem because it was a rubber roof, not shingles, which could be moved around. I have worked with contractors who work with you, and some who don't. This one showed up with little notice, didn't bother to call or contact me when the job was starting and said nothing while his crew worked on the job. The roof has not leaked, but I've had to work with and pay a finish carpenter to get it to look more like it should inside. My advice would be to make sure you get Mr.

to speak with you when the crew arrives and make sure you both agree about the details which you would think are obvious, like placing the skylights on center over the old location, rather than cutting corners by replacing only one end of the skylight frame.

This is the second home we've had
State College Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew reroof, and we've been pleased with the results both times. They are very, very fast, but the work is not sloppy, they simply use a large crew. They completed my previous home (including new gutters) in one day. This house took one day, the garage another afternoon.

First of all, I believe that the previous reviewer did not understand how to complete the review properly because they wrote that they would recomend the company yet gave an F grade.
I was put in an odd situation by my homeowners Ins company. Someone from the Ins company did a drive by inspection of my house and determined that I had to have my roof replaced in the middle of winter even though I have never had a leak. After questioning the
State College Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
of their requirement given the time of year, I was required to complete the replacement or

my Ins. coverage. With the timeframe being VERY short, I proceeded to get estimates.
State College Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was one of may different contractors I contacted to get estimates. They were not the low estimate, but gave me the promise of prompt service unlike the other roofers who did not want to call in their crews until the Mid April time frame.
I agreed to the estimated price and scheduled it for the first day that the weather here in central PA was warm enough. Within 2 weeks the temps were scheduled to be in the mid 40's for several days in a row so the plan was set in motion. Supplies were ordered and delivered the day before work was scheduled.
The crew arrived early the first day and promptly went at it. They removed the old roofing materials while the temp was still in the 20's and rising up through the 30's and once the temp hit the 40's which is the minimum suggested by the shingle manufacturer they completed 3/4 of the job on the first day. I was very happy considering the time of year and the length of the daylight hours.
The second day the crew returned around noonish so that once the temp warmed up a little they could finish. They were finished by 3pm.
I was so pleased with their workmanship and service, I gave the owner some extra cash over and above the agreed price to take the crew out for dinner.
The owner and crew were a pleasure to work with and I will not hesitate to use them again if the need ever arises.

It was Friday, going into the Hurricane Sandy weekend. We wanted a small area on our roof patched as a precaution. He was about the third call, and the first available. He said he would look at it on his way to another similar job. He arrived at our agreed upon time. He said he could do the work right then and told me about how much it would cost. It was casual; I trusted him right away. The work was done to my satisfaction. And, I really liked the guy (and his helper).
- Richard K.

Overall the work was good. However, I had a major problem with the gutter cleaning and cleanup afterward. I spent nearly two hours ripping off gutter covers and cleaning out more than twenty feet of gutter with some serious moss clogging. In addition, I had to purchase a large magnet at Home Depot to

my yard and driveway for roofing nails that were not picked up. This took me about three hours of running the magnet over grass and parts my gravel driveway where I park two cars. I retrieved a total of 112 roofing nails from the yard and driveway. Both the gutter cleaning and sweeps for nails were a part of the contract. I hope I don't end up with a flat tire on either vehicle or my riding mower if I have missed any nails. I called Mr.

to inform him of my dissatisfaction.

Second time we have had Ed to our house for roof work. Top notch. Ed
does not advertise, but is very busy, which means he has a good
following and his work speaks for itself. I actually had

to me by a commercial roofer. Locals in the area were familiar with is
work and concurred with the opinions of him. Great price, great roof and
done earlier than estimated.
