My lawn mower would not start. I've had this lawn mower for at least six years and it has always started on the first or second pull. I was surprised when it would not start. I went to Angie's List for the first time and scheduled an on-site service visit with
. They came out as scheduled, performed a tune up - changed the oil, spark plug, air filter, sharpen the blade etc. After the tune up, It started right up.

We took our riding mower in for repair with this provider. The mower was smoking heavily once the blade was engaged and in full throttle and warmed up. It took approximately 5 minutes or less to begin smoking. We told all of these details to
's when we dropped it off for servicing. The guy who took it in wrote it down. After two weeks, we got a call that the mower needed a new head and that there was ring damage but that the new head would take care of the smoking problem and if that didn't work they would probably have to replace a cylinder. My husband, who has some engine knowledge told them to make sure to check for scoring before they replaced the head assuming there would be lots of scoring or it wouldn't smoke as much as it does. So we gave them the go ahead to do the work for $400.
After another couple of weeks, we got a call from
's that the mower was done, the mower was all fixed and that we could pick it up. We picked it up, got it home and tested it out. It was smoking just as heavily as before. So the mechanic did not test it or he would have known. I called
's and told them the mower wasn't fixed. They said they would pick it up and "make it right." They said they would "put us at the front of the line since we screwed up."
We weren't put to the front of the line because another few weeks past until we got another call from
's saying the mower needs a new engine! The person I spoke to "
's brother" said list price is $832. but that he could give it to us for a little above cost (which is around $600.) He called my husband next day to discuss and told him the new engine would cost us $800! When I called him and questioned his inconsistency in the cost he told me vs. my husband he said "oh, no, my cost is around $700. So why did he say it would cost us $800 when cost is $600 and then said it was $700!!?
He told me and my husband that the mower needs a new engine because the rings are leaking or bad or whatever. But the shop already knew the rings were bad before they replaced the head.
I called the shop again and spoke to "
's brother" who told me he had told my husband that if they replaced the head it would probably stop smoking and we would probably make it through the summer and then have to replace the engine after the mowing season. He did not say that. Why would we pay $400 just to get through the summer and then pay another $800 to replace the engine later!!? So I asked "
's brother" this on the phone". He said they "did what they could".
I asked "
's brother" why they let it out of their shop without testing it. He said the mechanic "probably didn't run it for 20 minutes or more but he had tested it". It takes 5 minutes for the smoking to start. So his mechanic didn't even test it for 5 minutes!!
So "
's brother" told me they won't give us any refund or even anything off a replacement engine. He told me we can give them the go ahead to replace the rings and it will be about $200. He told me he wasn't discussing it or arguing about it anymore. They still have our mower. We have been using a push mower on an acre of yard for over four weeks and we are trying to decide what to do now.
We were mislead and misinformed by people who know much more about mowers than we do. We were lied to several times (about the mechanic testing it, about the mechanic checking for scoring, about the cost of the engine replacement, about them getting the mower in first thing because they didn't fix it the first time or test it. We were ripped off.
Do not take your mower here.

We just happened to be in looking at outdoor furniture, and asked if they had plastic inserts for the feet of our wrought iron furniture. They most certainly did, and the fellow knew who the maker was and where we actually bought it, based on our description. We have used them many times since we've lived in

I called
Pottstown Lawn Mower Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
and left a voicemail regarding fixing my lawnmower and my suspicions about it being a carburetor . He put me on the schedule that same day for early the next week. He sent a text message the night before reminding me he would be over. He called about 45 minutes before his arrival to let me know his GPS put him at 40 minutes away. He showed up as scheduled. He cleaned the inspected the lawnmower , cleaned the carburetor, sharpened the blades, and did something so that it would start on the first pull!.
Very happy and satisfied with the entire experience.

Went very well. The original problem was that the mower would not start. It is 4 years old and has never been serviced. It turned out the carburetor seal had slipped so

put that back on for free. Then he tuned up the mower, put in new oil, changed spark plug, put a degreaser on, slowed down the RPM's.

also shared that I had been using the wrong oil and told me what to get and where. He also told me to use different gasoline and that would help the engine last longer. Told me where to get that. He noticed my wobbly wheels and told me why they are wobbly. I told him I had just tried to tighten them.

also let me know that I could order new wheels and other mower parts from him at a lower cost than the chain stores.

was very friendly, knowledgeable and I enjoyed learning from him. My lawn looks super and I feel that slowing down the RPM's actually gave me a better cut. Oh, he also gave my blade a bit more sharpening (I had just gotten it sharpened but he found a couple of places he could make sharper). It also turns out I had not lined up the blade correctly when putting it back on so he fixed that, too. I would give an A rating all the way. The only reason I didn't give an A for punctuality is that

squeezed in one thing before my appt. and it made him late to me. I wasn't even going to mention punctuality as I was also anxious to have my mower fixed so I could get my lawn mowed. So, I hope the overall rating is still an A! I will definitely use

From start to finish the process went very smoothly. It was nice to have them pick up the mower and deliver it upon completion of the job since i do not have a truck to transport it (for a reasonable fee of $45). Everyone i dealt with was very professional and friendly. Mower works better than ever...

We had two riding lawn mowers still under warranty. One was smoking, shaking and dying and the other one was smoking and not running right. It took about three weeks to get them back and the work wasn't under warranty, even though the mowers was less then a year old. Both mowers doing the same thing they did when the took them in. I kept trying to call them, but they didn't seem to have anyone to answer the phone, guess they were busy. When I got hold of someone and explained the situation the man said why did you pay $500.00 if the mowers were under warranty. I ask the owners name and if he was there and they said he was at the farm. I kept trying to call to no avail, so we loaded up one mower and took it back to them. The repairman said we had bad gas and to empty the tank, blow out the line again, and change the oil filter, that they would charge us again to do it. My husband is nearly 70 and has

and is in a wheelchair and I am 66 and we have three acres to mow. We had a friend come over and do it for us. Still had problem. We hired someone to mow and then we bought another mower. This was ridiculous, we had two mowers under warranty we couldn't use. We had bought parts and had mowers repaired there through the years with them. But will never go there again. We took the mowers to another mower repair shop, they didn't do warranty work, it costs us $400.00, but the mowers are finally repaired.

Very well. He came on time and performed all services in his truck at my house. I was quoted a price of $100 plus parts. Without changing the blade just sharpening it, it came to $125. They did a great job but I think their prices are way high. I would use them again because of the convenience but maybe not for another 2 years.

My eleven year old lawn mower hadn't been serviced in quite a long time. I called
Pottstown Lawn Mower Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
who came to my house to do the job the very next day. He gave the mower a complete tune up - sharpened the blade, changed the oil, installed new spark plug and air filter, and cleaned/lubricated the machine. The price, which included parts and materials, was very reasonable. I couldn't be happier with the job he did. I also appreciated that he came right to my house and I didn't have to transport the mower to a shop. I'd call him again in the future.
