"We really enjoyed working with

"Contacted
in late Spring and contracted to have siding put on our home in August. Contacted
in mid August to learn" the status of when the siding would initiate and was told probably not until Winter. Of course I was upset as there had been no communication, prior to my call, that the estimated date of work was changed from late Summer to Winter. I was initially told that the delay was due to rain. Then I was told that business was booming for them with contractors and they were having a fantastic year and didn't have time for small jobs. Then I was told that they never heard from me. Then I was told that they never contacted me to share that they would not be able to do the work because they are not pushy sales people. REALLY? I turned down 2 other roofing companies to hire
. Had I known business was booming (yea for them, but what about our agreement?) along with all their other excuses and that they would not be able to complete the job, I would have had my siding done by now. I doubt very much that I will be able to find someone until Spring. Very very unprofessional and not an ounce of courtesy to the small home owner. Shame on them.

How Much Does Siding Cost to Replace?

Vinyl, aluminum, wood and fiber cement siding all have their advantages and vary in price.

Siding

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

One of the first questions I receive from homeowners looking to install siding on their homes is, “What is the best siding product?” The answer depends.

Returning home from the store with food for your big weekend cookout, you notice the siding on your house dangling loose from the recent thunderstorm.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

"Normal" construction practice dictates that the contractor remove all tools, unused materials (that you did not pay for) and scrap, and leave the worksite in a "broom clean" condition - this would include disposing (as he wishes) of removed saleable scrap - be it siding, old HVAC equipment, metal piping, etc.

Generally, unless you are talking copper sheet roofing or decorative copper ceiling panels or such, or in some cases very old in-demand recyclable timber or full-thickness hardwood flooring, the value of the metals will only marginally pay for his labor to load it and haul it to the metal recycler - especially with painted materials, which typically go for about half or less the going "clean metal" rate.

Look at the other side - how much hassle and cost will it take YOU to cut or bend the sheets into transportable lengths (since probably 10-12 foot pieces for full lengths) and haul them to a metal recycler - who may only be open during your normal work hours so you have to take time off, and maybe borrow or rent a pickup or trailer to haul it too ? All for a couple hundred $ in scrap value. Also - in some areas - scrap dealears are now limited by law to accepting construction scrap only from licensed contractors, because of the increased problem with people stripping houses and stealing from construction sites, so you as an individual might not even be able to sell it.

First, I can not say enough good things about VJ. He was very personable, fair and always accessible. He kept communication open which was something I wanted when doing our renovations. I didn't want to have to chase the project manager for an update. He worked with us on everything and he never said no, but gave me good alternatives. He spoke to me with respect even when I didn't know a term or why something was necessary. He always was able to speak in a positive calm manner no matter the situation.
We had a bit of an issue with the inspector but VJ was able to get us through the issue and it even saved me the pain of having to use an architect (which would have added to the cost). It was the little things that really minimized the headaches.
I was going to also do stone veneer but he deterred me. The stone I chose was not idea for applying over brick and I had a fairly large wall to cover. He could have easily just done the job and pocketed the money but he would rather have me be 100% satisfied with the job and he could not guarantee that. I'm sure it saved him some grief as well if he did the job and it didn't come out right. Regardless, it wasn't a small job and he could have just forced it but he didn't.
All the guys VJ had on his team we not only friendly but very good at their craft. Everything was cleaned up after it was done.
I can not be more pleased with the result!!! VJ was an absolute pleasure to work with and I can not wait to get the next project going with

I own a 2 story house built in 1983. It had original siding that was in need of replacement (pointed out by my
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
). Integrity was working on a house's roof up the street and dropped off a flyer at my door advertising siding and roofing. I looked them up on Angie's List and they were "A" rated for Roofing but not rated for Siding at the time. He convinced me that they were experienced in siding but were only known for their roofing. I quoted him against a few companies and he was a few dollars cheaper. He insisted that he would be taking pictures of their progress and clean up the job site once they were finished. They started the job and they tackled a few hurdles initially (replacing water damaged window trim and 2x4's). Once they began to install the new siding, I had them redo a board because they didn't terminate the vent I requested. The bottom section of the siding looks good, but the top does not look good at all. The top section is wavy and has gaps under the boards visible from the street. There is also a section where 2 boards are butted up against each other so tightly that the ends protrude outward. They did not clean up their job site once completed and I never received pictures. I had to run a magnet in my yard to pick up the nails out of my grass. They spilled paint on some of the stone edging and on one of my
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
in front of my house, and they did not clean it up. Initially I could deal with a messy contractor as long as the siding looked professional. I guess I should have looked at the siding closer before I paid them. During the next rain storm the next week I noticed that my new siding looked warped. I called them to come by to fix the top section of the siding. They told me that they sent one of their guys to pass by my house and informed me that the siding was fine. I was not there when he supposedly came by. I sent him pictures and said that it did not look fine to me. He said that I did not have enough 2x4's in the top section of the house to make it look straight. I find that hard to believe when I look around the neighborhood and people with same house plan with original siding from the 80's did not have siding that looked warped. He said that he wanted to make things right so he would come by. He never showed. I attempted to reschedule but he said he was busy with roofing due to all the hail damage from the most recent storm. I tried one more time with no response. I was aggravated trying to catch a contractor so I figured the siding should hold up even though it looks bad. I traveled for work for the last few months and when I got back I still couldn't ignore the bad looking siding. I left him a voicemail 2 days ago with no response and sent him a text today with no response. What I do not understand is that I hired him to do one side of my house and if he did good work, I would hire him to do the rest of my house and eventually my roof. All I want is the top section of my siding to not look warped. He has been completely unresponsive despite multiple attempts to make contact. At this point I am very frustrated with the neglect and complete lack of professionalism. I would absolutely never hire Integrity again, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

This company was working as a subcontractor for another company, so the price I paid might not be relevant.

and his friend
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
(then working for the other company) were hardworking and easy to get along with, but I learned later that they did not know what they were doing....More /> Cedar siding must be primed on the back and sides or it will rot quickly. They did not do this.
Siding that meets a roof must be flashed so the edges of the cedar are not constantly wet. They did not do this.
Most importantly, repair of structural beams requires a permit. They did not get one.
When the job began to look much bigger than expected they gave me a bid for all new siding. I got other bids and learned from speaking to several other contractors about the issues mentioned here. I think they were honest and well-meaning, but did not have the knowledge to do the job they were hired for.
All of their work will be torn out and redone by another company because we are replacing all of the siding and windows. I'm glad I did not hire them to continue with the larger job.
When the building paper is torn off and the building inspector comes, we will see if they did a proper repair on the structural beams.
They left behind some trash and unused building materials, which is the reason I downgraded their professionalism.

The project went great and I would highly recommend Vic and the team at MHRG for any construction related projects (we have already referred them to our neighbors). They were extremely responsive to every need and request. It was much appreciated. We had a great experience and plan to use them in the future for siding and other projects.

I started a contract with
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
October 2014 for $6000.00. First, in October 2014 their subcontractor Greenlight Construction Group replaced my roof. They did not follow our agreement to change some rotten and soft plywood from my roof -they just placed new shingles over rotten plywood and did not call the village inspectors to inspect it while the plywood was exposed - they did it at my request after the shingles were all laid out. Even though I immediately called

Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
agreed that the roof was faulty and replaced the roof and and all the plywood using a different subcontractor. Once the roof was completed,
Pittsburgh, Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
Invoiced me for 2 roofs - My invoice was 10,800. I never entered in a contract with them for the 2nd roof, I tough the 2nd roof was a replacement for the initial leaking roof. After negotiating with them, we have agreed to pay them a total of $8000.00 and requested a no
