Norristown Plumbers Reviews

"I was very happy with all the work that
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
did for me. As part of my kitchen remodel they replaced all my existing pipes and ran new services to the relocated sink, installed a new Dishwasher and Garbage Disposal and relocated the plumbing for my upstairs washer and dryer. Everything was done quickly and efficiently.
"Had some problem complete a toilet installation due to some bad parts; left with a hole on the bathroom floor and would like to get the new toilet installed right away instead of waiting for a few days (bought the new one from home depot and called several plumbers but all are busy for the next few days). Called
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
and they are very accommodating and agreed to come over in 30 minutes. When I asked about the price, they won't quote me over the phone stating every case is different. I mentioned that the old toilet is already removed and it should be a straight forward job; the plumber almost installed the new one to the finish but had to remove due to mis-matched tank. I said the other plumbers I asked all quoted in 175-200 range.
Anyway, the plumber arrived shortly after and took a look and said they usually charge $450 for toilet installation; but since the old one is already removed, they will charge $400. I was a little shocked of the high price. Since the plumber is already here, I will get charged $79 even if I declined for them to do the job; so called the owner and negotiated the price down. He insisted that this is the

price (they do include 1 year guarantee) even though none of the plumbers I talked to has the price over $200 (and yes I also get these plumber listings from Angies list and all have A ratings). Since I am paying less, there is no guarantee for my installation.
Now for the good part, the plumber is very nice and professional. Didn't rush the job since I paid less. He did the installation carefully (took 30 minutes for the whole process) and the toilet worked great. He is also pretty patient and answered my questions during the installation.
So, overall, I think they are probably good for bigger jobs since the warranty sounds nice; for smaller things like toilet installation, the price seems high to me.

To the Provider's Response:

1) The parts I had was mismatched for the previous plumber, which is why he couldn't finish the job. We got the correct parts after that, so there is no mismatched parts when your plumber came. So it is a very straight forward install. (probably easier than a regular install since the old toilet was already removed).
2) The point I am trying to make is when I called for a quote, be a little up front. I mentioned several times that the other plumbers are quoting me $175-200 on the phone, which is apparently way below your standard rate. You probably have good reason to charge that rate which is fine, but you should just let me know then that the estimate is much higher than what I have in mind and save both of us some trouble.
"Bought the new toilet at Home Depot and made the appointment for the installation. The tech come on time and is very nice and works fast, removed the old toilet and installed the base part of the new toilet within 30 minutes; then he found that the tank and the base doesn't match (probably someone bought it from Home Depot, switched out the part he needs and returned it; bad for home depot for not noticing that and sold it as new again). So, he couldn't complete the installation and ended up remove the new toilet base so that I can return it. The tech is very nice and professional; if we had the correct parts, I am sure he will finish it up in another 10-15 minutes.
Now the not so nice part, when I first made the appointment, I was quoted the price of $115 for the first hour and $85 for the 2nd hour, etc. I was under the assumption that the first hour is more expensive but includes the travel time already. But when the tech gave me the bill, he initially said it's 2 hours. (He arrived at 8:50am and we are done around 9:45am). I was shocked and he said they started counting the time when they leave the prior job or the office. So they basically will charge for the travel time. This was never mentioned to me and frankly doesn't make much sense. Given that no one knows how long it takes for the tech to travel between jobs, the first hour may actually just be 30 minutes of actual work. Talked to the office and they agree to just charge for the hour. So just keep that in mind when you schedule a job with them so that there is no misunderstanding when the bill comes.
Also, even though the toilet set we bought already has the wax ring and screws included; the tech used his own and charged us for that. It's not much, just around $10, but not sure why the included ones are not used.
Given the mixed experience, not sure if I will use them again.
"I was totally pleased with all aspects of the service. Called their office, and was scheduled a visit the next day.

arrived promptly and gave me a fair cost estimate to replace my heater humidifier and inspect and service the heater for winter. Agreed to have the work done and was called back that afternoon to schedule a day.
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
came back on the appointed day and time and got right to work. Took a little over 2 hours. Everything checked out and was very happy with the work. I'll definitely us

"Woke up in the morning with water stain on the kitchen ceiling; seems like something broke on the second floor bathroom; called them early in the morning and he promptly answered and told me he will fit me some time during the day. Called around 10am to come over and arrived in 15 minutes. He looked around and found a leaking pipe on the toilet. Replaced the pipe and adjusted some other parts; the leaking stopped and no further damage to the kitchen ceiling. After he left, I also called to ask couple follow up questions and he was very patient and explained things clearly to me.
"We had water dripping through our kitchen ceiling fan on Wed, 9/25/13. We traced it to the 2nd floor bathroom and I called

on Thursday 9/26/13 to see if they had an appointment slot for checking on this.

, the owner, returned my phone call very promptly and came out to look at the situation in the afternoon around 4pm. He determined the problem to be a leaky overflow pipe from the bath tub. He also cautioned us about water spilling onto the floor from people taking showers thus sending water through the downstairs ceiling. Made helpful suggestions to get a tub corner to divert water back into the tub while showering. He gave a price and said that a technician would complete the job the next day. The next day
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
called in the morning to give a time frame for the job to be done. The technician (whose name slipped my mind) came and completed the job. He also caulked around the tub and between the wall and the floor so future water spills will not be catastrophic. I very much appreciated the fact that the transaction was pleasant and professional and the problem got taken care of with minimal fuss.
"Brought a basement design big deal. Call 3 times weeks apart to set up a appointment, each time they said the appointment person wasn't there and promised to call back. Never called back once.
"We called them out to give an estimate for the job. We explained that the downstairs toilet had slightly shifted off its base and needed to be fixed. We showed them the faucet in the kitchen sink was leaking and needed to be replaced. We also pointed out that we wanted to replace the old sink with a 33" x 22" x 8" single bowl kitchen sink.
They gave us an estimate of $696.00
When the plumber came out to do the work (a different person than the one who gave the estimate) he arrived with the the same type of double bowl sink that we already had. We explained to him that the only reason we wanted the sink to be replaced was to get rid of the double bowl and replace it with a single bowl.
The plumber was very considerate and apologized for the mix up. He said that he would return with the correct sink the following day. He then proceeded to the fix the toilet and found that the original installation was faulty. After he removed the toilet, he pointed out that the toilet was not secured to the floor properly. He had to crawl under the the house to beneath the bathroom from the crawlspace entrance to secure two carriage bolts through the toilet flange on and reinforce it with a 2 x 4 to the frame of the house. He then put the toilet back and it has been secure ever since.
The following day he returned with the single bowl sink we wanted and had it installed in no time. The charge was exactly what we were quoted although because of the mix up it took longer than we originally planned.
I would hire these guys again. They did good work and 2 years later I have no complaints.
"My only complaint is that it took two phone calls to get the appointment scheduled. However, after the 2nd phone call they were very responsive, called back and scheduled my appointment for the next day. The workmen who came and serviced our water heater were not only on time, they were able to come earlier than origianlly planned. They were very respectful and professional, cleaned up the area thoroughly and flushed all the taps when they finished the job. They had to replace one pipe which only cost $25. I would certainly hire them again."
"We were looking for a reliable, punctual, PROFESSIONAL
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
to do some work around our new home (painting, electrical, plumbing, drywall); so, we turned to Angie's List. After reading only a handful of reviews for
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
, we decided to give them a call. Big, big mistake.
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
did answer our initial call promptly, and set up a visit to our home within a week. So far, so good. He showed up on time and was extremely polite. We described the work to be done; he literally told us: "I am going to work on estimates for all of my projects tonight; I will send you something by tomorrow morning." That was the last we ever heard from
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
. We waited a week before attempting to contact
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
again; I finally called, but received no answer. So, I emailed him, inquiring about the estimate. No response. To this day, 2 months later, he still hasn't given us the common courtesy of declining the work.

I implore you: read ALL of the reviews for
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
. Do not read only the first few and be lulled into a false sense of comfort with this company. After our experience with
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
, I went back and read all of the reviews. I was amazed and appalled at how many instances there were of
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
responding to a customer's initial request for work, then never communicating with the individual again.
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
is not a professional company; I would not recommend them for ANY work to ANYONE. Our time is extremely valuable, and
Norristown Plumbers Provider Name Locked
frivolously wasted it.
