"These guys are awesome! I've had them out twice, and will continue to use them as long as I have a need. They are a little on the higher end of the price scale," but their knowledge, skills, and professionalism are worth it. So lets start with the quote/proposal: They mapped out our whole property on the proposal sheet, annotating what kind of plants/trees were where. This was kind of nice because we had just recently bought this house and didn't even know what kinds of plants we had! He was very knowledgeable and explained/educated as he quoted. I REALLY like they way the proposal is organized, kind of an 'a la
' so now I can just call the office whenever and say "I'd like to set up a time for line #3" (this is what I did both times I called to order service). We got quotes for the apple trees (pruning, different fungal/insect treatment options), a couple tree removals, and some stump grinding. So far, we've had them cut down/haul away a tree and prune the apple trees. Both times, they let us know when they got here and when they were done, it was that easy. They do a great job, and I will continue to use them!

"There were some delays in the schedule due to the snow. The workers came the following week and worked according to the specs. provided. They worked great together" as an unit, shredding and cleaning up the branches and trash. Communication was minimal but sufficient for the work performed.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Tree Service reviews in Mountain Top

I first noticed
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
via an Angie's List Deal. I called, spoke with
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and arranged an estimate within a day. In fact, the estimate was done while I was away. We emailed estimates, options, offers and set a date for the work to commence. Two snow storms with ice managed to rearrange the date a couple of times.
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
completed the tree service with snow still on the ground in shaded areas.
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
arrived, we walked the property together during while we discussed what the goal was and if there were different routes, which ones I preferred. During the walk through it became very evident he knew the business, knew his crew and identified quickly what my priorities were - then he and the crew exceeded them. After finalizing the deal, I had some reservations - once they began their work, I became a fan and will definitely be a customer of their's for quite a while.
The River Birch in the front yard can be tricky and has proven to be a challenge to maintain.
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
went right after it - literally, he climbed into the tree and began a very systematic pruning. While
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
dropped the prunnings, an assitant below deflected the limbs/cuttings away from the plants below by using a metal garden rake. When
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
would change his location, his assistant collected the trimmings into a pile to be moved to their dump truck. Another two man team was working on other trees. Everything was very coordinated and efficient.
While his crew finished up,
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
and I did another walk through - he ensured everything was done the way we had discussed. The entire yard was cleaned and neatened to complete their job.
I was very pleased with the entire process and

He came out for estimate to my daughters house and my house, for tree branch trimming, I,e, safety, branches that may come down near the house or driveway. He had no sketch pad or even paper to write down his opinion. I just wanted tree branches trimmed for safety. He started talking about taking whole trees down, that were not in the areas of the property I was worried about. That's when I realized he was trying to do more than I wanted or needed. He gave me no paperwork with his opinion. He scribbled on a piece of paper the price he quoted. He seemed to be making up the price as he went. We set a tentative date. He called me before the date to start, and said he needed to look at all the trees and properties again. I am assuming this was because nothing had been written down or any sketch drawn so he could not remember. I said no, fearing he was going again to inflate the project. He cancelled twice before starting the job. I canceled him and would not use him. Very unprofessional and unprepared. I truly had the feeling he had something in his life he wanted to buy, and was adjusting the cost of my job to fit some need. There was no base price for tree trimming...he made it up as he went. Felt very uncomfortable.

Worked for us and our neighbor. Job had to be done quickly because of our travel plans. They came on time and even had two crews here for part of the time. Outstanding work. Very professional and did an excellent job of cleaning up and removing all debris. Will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

came over the day I phoned about the job and gave me a free estimate. He was knowledgeable, professional, and paid close attention to detail to get the job right.
They did a fantastic job, and I am well satisfied. Trees are trimmed beautifully and all the debris picked up and hauled away.

We recently purchased a home in Mounds View and needed some trees trimmed that were causing problems with our roof. For the price quoted we got a team of 5 guys with all the equipment they needed to do the job right. Highly professional, stayed on the price quoted, did a better job than I expected and even hauled off debris that my wife and I had already started piling up. Coming from the State of Virginia, I wasn't accustomed to having such quality work as we'd been ripped off many times before by various contractors. I'll be using this company again. Oh, and did I mention the trees are looking great!

This is the second year that I have had TFN trim my
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
. I am very pleased with the work. I need to keep my tree trimmed so that new growth doesn't hang over the wall and into my neighbors yard.

's crew made the first cuts on the neighbor side of the tree. Then they trimmed the opposite side, stepping back frequently to get an overall view of the tree to make sure that the tree looked balanced. The end result is beautiful.

At first,
Mountain Top Tree Services Provider Name Locked
, the owner, came by and checked things out, and we scheduled a time for a crew to come in the future.
At the scheduled date the crew came and started working. They knew what we had planned and were very polite and knowledgeable. While removing a stump a small irrigation tube was severed (at the time we didn't know that it was vestigial) and the
workers were very concerned about fixing it, which they did.

arrived a little later and oversaw what had been done.
Everything was what one would want. I am extremely pleased with the service.

Responded quickly to bid request. It took a little while to schedule but crew showed up on time and completed the work to my satisfaction. They cleaned everything up well.
