"They did everything during the promised times and have followed up with three additional vista just to answer questions and clean up some of their work. After the" initial install, my wife noticed some cracking in the cement.... They returned and relaid the concrete.
did the i tall... His team was extremely professional and stayed with the job until we were completely satisfied. I know that
is a little more expensive, but the service and piece of mind make it totally worth the cost. We aren't sure whether we want to expand on the waterproofing (we didn't exactly do the full service for their waterproofing because we wanted to leave some of the bricks in the basement exposed) but if we do, we will call
again. CJ gave us our initial quote and completed our initial inspection. If all of ther inspectors are as professional and knowledgable, then I doubt you will be disappointed.

-Marc S.

is easy to work with and provides good information about the project and the work to be performed. He inspects the work himself to make" sure it was executed properly and takes action as needed. One refreshing aspect is that no payment is collected until the work is completed and you are satisfied - how many contractors do that!? - most want 50% that you give up and hope for the best.
delivers first!
also said he would install a dehumidifier for a couple of weeks (at no additional charge) to help assure everything is dry after the project but that has not been done yet. We would not hesitate to use

Contractors say homeowners with this trait are the most satisfied with home improvement projects.

The damage done by neglecting a crawl space is likely affecting you more than the eye can see, says Vallone. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Nancy T. of Seattle)

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

We bought a house with

They were thorough, informative and gave us options. They had to move everything out of the way and

Went very well. Always on time. Owner came first day and explained and showed them what to do. They were very communicative and patiently answered all our questions. They clean up after themselves. Very hard working. One night they stay until after dark and it was raining and they kept working. It has been three months now and the basement is all dry.
- Robert F.

Called and advised would be a little late due to picking up supplies. Very courteous and knowledgeable. Went right to work and was in and out in an hour. Advised to let it dry for 48 hours and then I can knock off fill tabs. Also advised to watch for any cracks that could signify a bigger issue.

This is a home that is going to be sold. We had renters in the property when the leak appeared. We live out of state and made a day trip with no appointments set up beforehand. I called several companies, and having not lived in Indiana for over 20 years, finding a reputable contractor was going to be a shot in the dark. Most companies were going to be several days before they could send anyone out for estimate. The two that did come out seemed to have a "one price fits all" around $6000. I contacted
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and while I was waiting for a call from a rep, I accessed Angie's List where I noticed that

Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was exceptional to work with. Details are included below, but in short, I was grateful to have chosen
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew because they were extremely professional, did excellent work, and most importantly, conducted their business with integrity. Selecting a drain tile contractor can be intimidating because of the expense involved and the drastic measures that a homeowner sometimes has to take to remedy basement water problems. I unconditionally recommend Standard.
We had severe water problems during the extremely wet spring of 2014. Once we began calling drain tile installers after the flood waters subsided, it became clear that you'd be lucky to get a call back at all, because most companies were booked out for months and literally could not answer the phone. Standard's website is informative and does a good job of explaining the basics of a homeowner's options to deal with water problems. Although I had to leave a voice message for Standard, as promised, they returned the call and promptly came to my house to do an estimate. The estimator had thorough knowledge of products and the installation process. He explained how we should prepare our basement for the work. He explained that they were booked several months out, but told us the exact day that they would be installing our project, which ended up being the actual day that the work was performed. He also explained that Standard wasn't responding to the influx of jobs by adding a bunch of inexperienced crews just to keep up.
Given the massive number of people getting drain tile installed, we were unable to get an estimate from a different company for comparison. However, I know that a friend had a smaller drain tile project installed by a contractor that took several days to complete the project and paid significantly more than I did.
After accepting the offer I received a thorough letter explaining the work to be done and what we needed to do to prepare. On the day promised, the crew called ahead, and showed up on time. The crew put up plastic to control dust as much as possible. The installation -- including jackhammering, removing a massive amount of concrete and installing the drain tile, sump basket and pump, battery backup and vapor
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
-- was completed in one day. New concrete was poured the next day and completed in just a few hours.
As the job was just completed, I have not seen the sump pump work in a heavy rain, but the quality of the installation work looks excellent.
The only problem that occurred actually turned out to be a significant benefit to me. After the first day of work, I noticed damage to a basement window that the crew used to pass tools and concrete through during their work. On the second day, one of the workers took photographs and I got a call from
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the owner of
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, who took responsibility for the damage and began to discuss how to remedy the problem. It took several phone calls to determine whether the window should be replaced or repaired, and throughout that process,
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was prompt at returning my phone calls; I felt that he was taking care of his customer. Ultimately
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
decided -- without me having to push the issue -- that the only way to fix the window was to totally replace it. I suspect that his decision to do so means that Standard may have lost money on my job, but
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
did what the owner of "stand-up" company, one that understands how important a reputation for integrity is, does to ensure that the customer is taken care of. The window installer has told me that payment has already been made by
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, so he has held up his end of the deal, plus more.
Here's the "more," a separate benefit: After
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
's worker examined the window damage,
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
realized that what I thought was a basement egress window actually did not meet the code for the proper square footage of the window opening once the window was cranked open. Once I looked at the open window, I realized that it would have been far more difficult to exit my basement during an emergency that if the window's hinges were placed to meet the egress code requirements. Oddly, if the damage had not happened, I probably never would have realized that there was a far safer way to locate the hinges on the window, which will now happen when the new window is installed.
Over the years, I've worked with many contractors listed on Angie's list, but I've never written a review. I try to pick companies, like
Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, with lots of excellent reviews, and have felt like my one additional review can't make that much of a difference. Standard impressed me so much that I felt compelled to write this one.

- R A.

Mckees Rocks Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
did a great job of explaining options and understanding our time-frame. They fit us in quickly and repair was done with respect for our finished basement. All in all, we are completely satisfied.
