"I called for a quote at 0945, He asked the year make and model, and I waited while he checked, I was quoted $150.00. (Safelite was going to charge $360 recommended" by my insurance) So I said ok lets schedule the replacement of my windshield. He asked if I wanted to do it today, I asked what time and he said he could be at my house at 12:30. I agreed and said that I would just go into work late. At 1:30 I called and asked if he was on the way, he said 20 minutes. They arrived at 2:10. The replacement was done by 2:40. My neighbor had come out to speak to him about her windshield and he was getting a quote for her. He wrote down $195.00, she thought because it was a different car. When he handed me the invoice to sign, it said $195.00 and I said you quoted me $150.00 on the phone this morning. He started to say well I had to do....but never completed his sentence. Then he said I'll change it to $180.00.They were spanish speaking and I felt that I couldn't really communicate well with them. The reason I use Angie's list is so that I don't have to deal with someone changing the price or doing poor quality work. They left some pieces of rubber on the inside of my car...I can't really judge whether it was a good job until tomorrow, when I remove the duct tape.

"Told me I did a good job of boarding up window. If I just left what I did, instead of having them replace my board, I would save some money, which I did. Mix of" them to tell me that. They came back a week later with actual window, which they replaced. Perfect fit, they fixed the framing. All is good. Good clean up job, too.

From what I can see in a picture of the item, there does not appear to be anything special about the glass. unless it has an Ikea emplem on it or special etching or something, any normal window glass replacement company like Speedy Glass or such should be able to cut and install replacement glass - probably about $100-300 depending on whether a pane or entire door-sized panel of glass, depending on which style you have.
?
Just about every sliding door I have installed is put in in sections. If it is a brand name you may be able to purchase a replacement panel from a lumber yard or call a glass company to replace just the glass. I have seen some windows and doors that have a "welded" plastic frame that is next to impossible to replace just the glass. I hate to give estimated costs on labor or material since they very by manufacturer and regional prices but I would think you are in the $250-350 range in labor plus cost of glass or panel.
?

Could be held on with concealed mirror fasteners (usually a clip or notched "button" design, with very litle showing outside the mirror, or none showing if has trim around it, or with large dabs or swipes of mirror adhesive or liquid nails. The former leaves minimal damage when removed - no more than a heavy duty picture hanger, the latter leaves divots in drywall, as you surmised, and holes in the drywall if a piece of plywood is not used as a prypoint when prying it off.

If you want to try to save the mirrors, then a glass and mirror installer is needed - they can remove them from the hangers, or cut the adhesive with wire saw - though that will add probably 2-3 hours labor per room. Then you would need a painter who also does minor drywall repairs.

If not saving the mirrors, then I suspect you could get a Handyman to pop them off, repair the divots, and repaint. Otherwise, a Painter would probably be glad to do it and repair the damage and repaint - just be prepared for a hefty charge for duct tape - like $100-200, because that is the best way to do this - duct tape the surface completely, pry the mirrors off (commonly breaking them), then cut through the tape to make pieces of glass manageable and of a size to fit in garbage can or box for hauling out. Be sure to emphasize PLYWOOD protection for floors, overlain by canvas or plastic, when removing the mirrors - drop a good sized piece and you have significant flooring damage.

Here is a prior response for a similar situation, including the same suggestions about removal, but also a bunch of ideas of how to leave the mirrors and cover or integrate them - which can be a LOT cheaper than paying a two-man crew for a day to remove mirrors, depending on solution you choose.

 http://answers.angieslist.com/Need-rid-wall-mirrors--q67621.aspx

this is probably a quarter to full days job to remove depending on how fastened and if saving or not, so about $200-800 range. Drywall repair and painting probably about another $150-250 range, so ballpark numbers - pushing $300-400 if mirrors come off easy (bracketed) or can be scrapped, more like a thousand $ if saving mirrors.

Your Search the List category is Glass and Mirrors - the Speedy Glass type company that does home and auto glass replacement.

If the glass is held in with window putty (a doughy tan or white putty) or by a wood trim piece all around it pinching it in place, then you can probably fix it yourself for about $15 piece of glass at a glass replacement place or somehome improvement/lumberyards.

If the glass is multiple-pane, or encased in a metal frame, then not easy to do yourself, though in some situations with single-pane you could remove the glass mounting frame entirely, use larger glass, and install with window putty. Double or triple pane you need then to fabricate a new "glazing unit" for you - the glass layers all enclosed in the metal encasing unit.If you are going to pay for that, might as well have them put it in too.

We hired them to replace the glass in two of our shower stalls. They came & took what seemed to me to be microscopic measurements. I don't remember how long it took for the doors to be delivered, but it was not very long. They came & installed the glass, I believe in less than an hour & a half. They cleaned up all of their mess & gave complete instructions on allowing adhesives to cure. They did beautiful work & we are very happy with the company. We would certainly use this company again.

I had an attempted break in at my home over a weekend and called
Levittown Glass Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
right away the following Monday, to replace the broken glass in on my front door. They were able to come out that week to replace the glass. Not only was it very timely and affordable, both the estimator and the installer were very polite and professional. Even cleaned up the mess when done with the job. Seamless. Will definitely use them in the future!

06/30 tues - called them in the morning requesting they replace broken windows (burglary, glass broken). they said the earliest they could get to our house was thursday. i asked if they could at least come in that afternoon to board up the windows and give me an estimate. so i'm waiting for them to show up from 1pm-5pm. no one shows up. i call back after 5pm asking what time they would be there, everyone was gone for the day.
07/02 thurs - they show up and take measurements.
07/06 mon - i call them twice, asking when the windows were going to get done. they give me a quote and ask for a 50% deposit.
07/13 mon - i call again asking when they were coming to fix the windows. they call me back with a schedule
07/15 wed - windows finally fixed.
Contrary to what their name says,
Levittown Glass Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
is not fast. I had to constantly call them to get the process going. And in my opinion, it felt like they weren't really interested in the job. i had to call them to give me a quote, when they could have called me on friday with the info. we could have sped up the whole process. and when i called them on 07/13, I don't think we were even scheduled.
No, I would not recommend them.

They were great. I wanted to replace the old clear glass inserts in for of my my kitchen cabinets with a type of glass that would hide the contents. They went through all of the options and were extremely helpful. They even suggested doing one first to make sure I liked it before I did all of them.

About a month ago a vertical strip of glass on the master bath mirrors fell. Shattered on the floor. There are 3 very large mirrors, each approx 5'x5'. One mirror is over the vanity/sinks and the glass strip overlapped the
Levittown Glass Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
to the mirror next to it. A third mirror is on the wall right angled to the second mirror.Mirrors 2 and 3 are over a tub.
This was on a Saturday at 1:30 in the morning. Sunday I called several glass companies to see if they could come to repair or at least support the one mirror as it had tilted downward, pushing under the mirror next to it. The top of the backsplash on the vanity and the light fixture were supporting the mirror. I was fearful that vibration might bring the whole thing down. Now, all these mirror companies say they provide emergency service on weekends. Their definition of an emergency is when a window is broken they will provide men to board up the window.
.So on Monday I called one company which sent 2 men to repair the mirror. They trimmed the mirror on the
Levittown Glass Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
.They reglued the mirror to the wall. Put shims underneath the mirror and said to remove the shims in a day. There was a chrome strip above the mirror which they put back and it was slightly bent and not aligned to the wall. The bottom strip they left on the backsplash and said to reapply when the shims were removed. Both strips were filthy. Also these men said they would not touch the other mirrors as they will shatter and cant be fixed. I talked to the company about the work and said they would have nothing to do with fixing the mirrors.
So I contacted a second company which came to the house and said it will be difficult to fix these mirrors and quoted me a very high price close to $2000.
.A contractor friend told me about

. He had used them on a number of projects as well as doing work in his home. Said they do great work and are reliable.
I called

and spoke to
Levittown Glass Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
. I explained the problem and he came out the next day. He was on time. Very nice low key person. Very knowledgeable about mirrors. He spent a lot of time examining the mirrors. He said they can do the job. Their quote looked like this:
1 -72" X 62" >1/4" CLEAR MIRROR POLISHED(replaces the mirror over the vanity/sink.)
1- 3-1/2" FIXTURE CUT OUT AND TWO 1" HOLES
REMOVE THREE MIRRORS (SAVE TWO ON LEFT IF POSSIBLE), INSTALL NEW J CHANNEL SHIMMING OUT OVER VANITY TO MATCH PLANE, CUT DOWN ONE MIRROR FLUSH WITH BACK SPLASH AND POLISH, INSTALL NEW MIRROR W/ CUTOUTS OVER VANITY, INSTALL NEW FACE MOULDING ALONG CEILING.
If they had to install 2 additional new mirrors:
1 -62" X 56" >1/4" CLEAR MIRROR POLISHED #2
1 -64" X 56" >1/4" CLEAR MIRROR POLISHED#3
The glass strip that fell will not be replaced as it had a very dated appearance.
The original quote was about $1300. We scheduled for the following week and Mat and a helper arrived on time. They laid tarps to protect the vanity, sink and tub.The job took around 4 hours. They did everything as promised. The new mirror over the sink is flush with the

of the backsplash on the vanity and the

of the mirror butts smoothly to mirror #2.They were able to save Mirrors #2 and #3. The finished job looks great.

used a colored caulk where the channel meets the tile. They cleaned up after their work, and took away the old mirror. The final bill was for the one mirror plus the cut out and labor- $817.
I am very impressed with their work and would hire them again. Nice guys!!
