contracted with us to completely prep and paint our house. They arrived every day at about 7:00 a.m. and worked with breaks consistently all day after the first two days. The first two days they didn't work much. I found out later that the lead painter on the job had just given his notice so I assume that is why he did not work very hard at the beginning of the job. His helper on the first two days seemed to be new to painting. He painted shut the frames of the windows that he painted without having the windows opened. After that we opened the windows so that they could be opened after painting and that they would be entirely painted. We removed all of the storm windows and we reinstalled them after the painting was done. The house is 64 years old and hadn't been painted in a while so there was a huge amount of prep work. The painters were here 81/2 days, sometimes with a crew of 2, 3, or 4 workers.
We felt that the painting job was satisfactory. However, toward the end of the second week, evidently the owner started telling his crew that our house had to be finished by Thursday. He had another job that they needed to go work on. Therefore, the painters started getting sloppy and missing areas. We discovered quite a few areas while they were there and they went back over them. We also told them about a large area under an eve. They informed us that they couldn't paint it because they couldn't get their brush in there. My husband painted the area today.
On the last day that they were here and still working, the Owner came to our house and asked for the rest of his payment. I informed him that I would pay him after his crew was finished. He told me that they would be done momentarily, but I knew that they would not be. After that the crew rushed through their cleaning up and we let them go. We later discovered other areas that they had missed.
Also, part of their contract was to wash the windows when they were done. They missed some of them and there is paint on a couple of them. There is paint on a
window which is up high and so we are unable to remove it ourselves.
About a week after they finished the job, we contacted the Owner to send someone back to remove the paint on this window. After four weeks he finally sent an email stating that "We already cleaned every single one of your windows at your request (this was included in his quotation) with the exception of that
window. We will stop out to clean that rear
window, but it will be at a time convenient to our schedule."

I had a number of issues with this painter, but lack of professionalism was the biggest. I asked painter for an estimate with a T&M contract. Painter gave estimate based on X/hr, top of contract clearly said "estimate" in big letters. I added an hourly rate to the contract to make clear it was T&M. Fast forward to job completion. Job was a B-grade. Not bad, but patching was just ok. Job was supposed to be 2 painters for five 8-hour days. Painter worked 4-6 hour days, and only 1 painter was onsite on 3 of the 5 days. Net is that job can in at half the hours, in part because work completed was not as extensive as originally discussed, since by that point I did not want to extend hours. Painter then produced a bill for "estimate" amount, which he now claimed was a "fixed price" contract, even though estimate includes 2X hours than actually painted, and no where did contract say fixed price. When I challenged the amount, I received multiple calls per day for 7 days that ranged from badgering to threatening. We finally reached settlement after an unpleasant week of back and forth.
On the positive side, painter was responsive and started job on date agreed, and as I said earlier, quality was ok to good. The job site was pretty well cleaned at job end. But with the "bait and switch" on T&M/estimate to fixed price contract and the unprofessional and unpleasant follow-up, I cannot recommend this contractor.

With a 3-4 man crew, it took 2 weeks to complete this job. The guys were very prompt and hard working. I would love to find a non-smoking group of workers....but for some reason, it seems to be a fact of life. Wasn't crazy about finding cigarette butts around the exterior....but the quality of the work was such that I can overlook that. The crew made sure that I was pleased with the entire job before leaving.

was good to keep in check with progress as well. All in all, I am very pleased with the paint job. I don't anticipate spending this much money any time soon again....so was glad to see a quality job! Also, I did get another paint quote which was almost exact same amount, but having used University for interior work last year, I knew that I would have a quality job.

The estimate to have the work done was made within a week of my call to their office. An estimate was sent via e-mail within days. While we had expected to have to wait until after Thanksgiving to be scheduled, we were pleased to be put on the schedule in early November. The painting crew arrived at 7:30 on a Tuesday morning. All painters were pleasant and professional. At the end of each day all materials were placed in an out of the way area. Work was completed by Thursday afternoon. The results were beautiful!

Had the most bizzare experience with
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his company. Hired him to pain the ceiling, trim, and walls of my dining room and living room of a home we just purchased.
Began well, but it took a few calls to get him to respond. I needed someone right away. He came by, gave me a quote, and was able to start the next day and work all weekend, to get the job started. Great! In my opinion, the quote was too high, but agreed since he was able to begin immediately. He arrived the next day with another employee. Unfortunately, the walls in my living room were cracked and in bad shape, which we were not aware. We agreed for him to begin in the dining room instead while my husband and I started to repair the cracks.

and
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
worked Saturday, Sunday, and a few hours Monday afternoon. They completed the dining room and painted the (much larger) living room ceiling. On Sunday I agreed to pay
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
half of his fee, $750. I wrote him a check, and on Monday he phoned to ask where he could cash the check that day. After explaining that our bank did not have a local branch and he just needed to deposit it in his account, I agreed to pay him cash that Monday, as he stated he needed the money that day. I gave him the cash, and ripped up my check that he returned to me. He stated he had been off work for quite some time while recovering from a broken heel.
He agreed to return the following Friday morning at 9:00, and work that weekend, to complete the job. Friday morning at 8:50, I phoned him, apologizing that I would be arriving to the house 10 minutes late or so. He did not answer, so I left a message. A few minutes later, he phoned back stating he would not be working at my house that day as a (family member) had an immediate medical issue, and he needed to be with (the family member). I was curious why he did not take the initiative to call first to let me know. Of course I understood, but did ask when he thought he might be able to return. All of my living room furniture and boxes were piled in the center of the room, awaiting the painting job. He was not able to commit to a return day, so I asked him to just call and let me know as soon as he knew. The next day, Saturday, while we were not at the house, he claims he arrived to paint. It was my understanding he would call first to let me know. We were not occupying the house yet, so still needed to plan on when to be there to meet people. So we apparently missed him. I called and spoke with him. He did not know when he would again return, so I told him to please let me know, but if it was going to be a while, I may need to get someone else to finish so that I could get our stuff settled in the room. After considering this, my husband and I both called and left messages stating that we would like for him to finish the job he committed to, and with sympathy to the situation he reported to be in with his (family member), to please call so we could discuss when he would be able to return.
He never returned any of our calls and I have yet to hear from him almost two weeks later.
I will say the quality of his painting was good. He seems to take quite a few rest breaks, so I would not be open to an hourly rate. I do feel his rates were high, although we did have a good amount of trim work. Again with sympathy for his family situation, I would not hire him again based on his lack of responsiveness and reliability. He totally left us hanging with a largely unfinished job.

I was very pleased--I was a little put off by scheduling the initial visit for the estimate through University Painter's corporate office, but once
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
came to the house, he gave me his local contact info, including his cellphone, in case I had any questions about the estimate. He was very easy to work with; I had said I had a deadline of an upcoming wedding, and then we needed to go out of town for a funeral, which caused a bit of a time crunch. He rearranged some work in order to get our job done in a timely way, which was a huge help and stress relief. He checked in with me from start to finish, and his painter
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
was excellent, pointing out some places he needed to fix that I hadn't even noticed. And he cleaned up extremely well--I could hardly tell he'd been there most days, even on the messy wallpaper stripping day. The job took a little longer than they thought, but it was about what I had expected, and I very much appreciated that they didn't rush to get it done in the time they said, but took the time needed for a good job. I would definitely use them again.

He did a beautiful job. under the GI Bill he took classes in in both carpentry and plumbing and, since 1983 he has

We enjoyed having
Lancaster Interior Painters Provider Name Locked

Oh, did I mention that, on his first visit to our house, he discovered a rather thick, a 6' long black snake taking a sunbath in front of my front step? I am TERRIFIED of snakes and didn't even try to hide my horror and fear. While I cowed in the far back corner of the garage, he calmly and creatively found a way to catch the snake, get it into a tip bag, jammed a trash can lid on it and secured the lid with duct tape so it couldn't escape. I bravely stood on the lid while he did the taping. He loaded it in his truck and released it somewhere where it would be safe and wouldn't scare anyone else. He even brought back a special camera which he used to look under my front step to assure me that there were no other snakes lurking there! And he charged not a penny for being my Knight in Shining Armor!!
