Sample Reviews

Last year, April/May, 2013,
Flooring replaced the tiles in my kitchen after a massive flood in the front of the house. They were wonderful, from start to finish. The store has a superior array of tiles to choose from, in every color, size, shape and quality. I was lucky enough to be greeted by
, who worked with me to get the job done. She was wonderful -- knowledgeable, kind, patient and took the time to explain the differences in tile, placement, pricing and suggested some patterns. I made my selection the same day. The work was scheduled and it took two days to complete. The workers were clean, on time, organized and efficient. Since I was so pleased with the above job, I decided that I would return to
Flooring to look for tiles for my small guest bathroom update this year. I called the store and asked for
, and upon my return I received the same welcome and great service. I made my selection, the tiles were ordered, and I picked them up. My contractor actually did the work this time. I can't stop raving about
Flooring. I highly recommend this company to anyone who has tile needs and have passed along cards to friends.

The entire experience was fantastic. This review comes kind of late, but better late then never.
are an excellent team. Initial conversations were with
who scheduled
to come out to the house and take some estimates.
was punctual and very friendly right from the start. He took his measurements and within a day we had an estimate in our inbox. We bit off more than we could chew, so we had to hold off on some of the work we wanted done. We settled on just replacing the carpet on the stairs with hardwood flooring.
They were very fair and honest about what we "need" and what would look good versus trying to up-sell us to something more expensive.
The day of the installation, his team came and worked straight through the day until the job was completed, they cleaned up after themselves, we paid them and they left us with instructions on how to care, what to expect, etc.
We had an overall great experience and can't wait to have the rest of our floors redone. We will definitely be calling

Good up to point that work started. With the crew that showed up only one guy could speak English and it was very little. Communications was a big issue. After some days, there was a High School student that started showing up at times who could speak English very well, but late in the game. We were told by the owners up front that the estimate to do the job was 3 days, but it ended up being many days beyond that. There was a pretty clear disconnect between the owners and the ones actually doing the work on the timing.
There were many issues, but I'll just highlight the two biggest ones here. First was there inability to consistently

the tile level. Now I know that floors are not perfect, but when the floors are decent like mine they certainly have the ability to make the tiles pretty level, far better than what was done on this job. I did get them to go back and fix some of these areas, but there are many bad sections that remain and I'm sure I'll have chipping issues in the future with the elevated/exposed edges.

The second really big issue was with the grout. It was bad enough that the grout came out much lighter in color than we wanted because of the over use of grout boost, but the real kicker was how extremely low the grout line was. When barefoot, the sharp edges of the tile would hurt unless you walked very gently. They argued that they did it right, but it was so obviously wrong, plus spending a few minutes on Google made it very clear they didn't know how to grout this type of tile. They did go back and add more grout and it did get much better, just not sure if the grout will hold long term now.

I have concerns around asking them to come back out and make the job better that I would prefer to not go into here. I believe this company is capable of doing much better work. If you use them, would recommend that you insist on having someone on the job at all times who can speak English well and that you watch the work being done very closely at all times.

Was told by supplier of flooring he was the best of all on their list . He does have a long lead time. Supplier neglected to get product from G.P. to

when scheduled, so work could not start on time, but

did call to explain the delay then called again to let us know he was on the way (same day). Work went quickly. He and helper worked around large computer desk, which would have been a pain to take out of the room. They left no mess, and floor looks great.

We decided to change a vinyl kitchen floor to a solid wood floor. we've never had wood floors before! We went to the showroom and dealt with
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, one of the salespersons. We told her what our requirements were for consideration, including that we have a dog. She started pulling out samples, mostly hickory, which is a harder wood. We took several samples home. We narrowed it down to two samples of hickory. One sample was very "splotchy" in color, having lots of variation from really light to really dark tones. A second hickory was more uniform in wood tones, with lights and

but not near the contrast in color as the other one! We liked the second one better because of the more Unicom wood colors. She did mention that hickory samples "can sometimes have variations in color". We trusted the sample we chose and said to go ahead. Well, when the floor boxes came, we saw that some boards were practically blond and some were almost blood red!

was called and she assured us that there would be lots other nice colored boards in the boxes that filled our dining room. An installation day was set. We stopped the men laying it and she was called out to see what we considered to not be the floor color we ordered. Numbers were checked and it was right. Again she assured us there would be plenty of nicer colored boards, so the men proceeded with their job. As the floor was getting more and more finished, one man laying it came to me and said there had been a mistake in the ordering, that there wasn't enough wood!

had NOT added the wood for the hallway outside the kitchen, onto the order! They did what they could and said they would be back after the weekend (this was Friday). Another week went by waiting for the other wood. It finally all got laid. Each day that went by, we could tell we didn't like it. We called
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
to come out and see it. First he said to wait a week or so and live with it and we'd probably "learn to love it". A few more days went by. We called to say he had to come look. He came into the room and said "yup, that's a hickory floor!" We said it didn't look anything like the sample and he said he'd contact the rep for the wood company and have him come out and look at it. We said okay. We waited and waited and no word, and finally had to call THEM. They said the rep had been there and just looked at pictures he had taken and was NOT going to come out after all! The rep was going to talk to his boss about it. Another wait without any word from
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's. So again WE had to contact THEM. The wood company would not do anything. Since we weren't allowed to talk to the rep ourselves, we had to wonder if he was even contacted!! We had no way of knowing. We asked for a new floor and what could they offer us as compensation.
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's offer was to make us pay for everything all over again, with only a few hundred dollars taken off the whole project! We asked how much we owed (we had just paid about half at the beginning of the project ), paid it, and have never set foot in their place or talked again! Bottom line is, their salesperson and customer service stinks!

We received estimates from 3 other tile installation companies.
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's was the 2nd highest estimate. The other 3 companies didn't seem to know what they were talking about.
We wanted to incorporate an old fireplace surround tile into our backsplash and the previous 3 companies did not seem to know how to deal with the fact that the old tile was 1/4" thicker than the new tile. One of them wanted to try to slice the old tiles in half! Several months later my neighbor recommended

All in all,

met with us 3 times prior to hiring him to install the backsplash. He was always on time and very, very patient with us as we decided on a trim piece.
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
was also very patient with me when I thought I didn't like the color of the tile after he installed it. *embarrassed* He was so nice and helped me understand that I would love it once it was grouted. He was 100% correct! I love it!

The tile was installed on the diagonal which took a lot more planning and cutting. It looks spectacular and everyone who comes over comments on it. There is a lot of variation in the tile and

took the time to think about where to place each tile so that although it looks random, there are no places where there is too much light tile or too much dark tile. As soon as we saw it, we knew that a lot of thought went into the tile placement.
In the bathrooms, they built shampoo boxes in the tile and also were responsible for the placement of tile trim in one of the bathrooms. In the second bathroom they installed river rock on the floor of the shower and also on an area of the floor. It was
Essington Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
's idea to do a free form shape as if the river rocks were an area rug. That required a lot of extra cutting and planning.
The backsplash in the kitchen was also installed by them and, as with everything else, they took a lot of care and pride in their work.
