Kitchen Remodel
Problem: Kitchen was small outdated and poorly lit. It also did not have 200 amp service.
The house is @ 40 years old in a neighbourhood we enjoy and on a lot we really liked. We wanted to open up the kitchen to get more space/storage and upgrade the appliances including bringing in 200 amp service. We entertain frequently and wanted a guest friendly kitchen. We wanted others to be able to join in the dinner prep fun or
just share a glass of wine and conversation.
Special considerations:
We’ve known
and their son
for years and watched
them go through remodels of their own home and other people’s homes. It was a concern because we didn’t want the
friendship adversely impacted by this project.
We’ve seen enough of their work to know they did great things but we’ve
never been a client. The friendship was
more important than the job and we didn’t want to risk harming it. However we trusted their honesty, experience
creativity and judgement. We discussed
our concerns up front with them and decided to do this project with them and we
are so thankful we did! What a fabulous outcome!
first made me measure the existing storage space I had,
including spices so I would know how much I space I had and make sure I
expanded what was really important. This
was a really good idea. We discussed my
ideas and they looked at the area and drawings I had done and
the scale floor plan options. I have
trouble visualizing things so I measured things and taped the measurements on
the floor so I could get a better idea.
That really helped get a better idea of spaces and work patterns before design
was completed.
is the creative force that pulled it together and made it sparkle. His creativity provided many
very classy finishing touches that solved problems. We removed two walls and
opened the area up. The natural light from existing windows flooded the area and made a wonderfully open space to
work in. We had tile on the floor originally and replaced it with heated tiles that went beautifully with the
rest of the kitchen. We loved the heated floor this last winter! We had enough space to put in a 12 foot island with an induction cook top and a glass island vent. We also used granite on the counter tops and island. It’s quite striking! I have a wonderful pantry area and plenty of storage. As I said I have trouble visualizing and they helped me preview ideas so
I had a comfort level with the design. Thanks to them I have many many nice features that I would not have
thought of that are practical for the way I cook. It’s a great working kitchen space! No space was wasted! One thing I love is the
wonderful work light I now have. The kitchen is fabulous! Works great and did I mention that
has an excellent eye for color? He can see a color and visualize the other colors that it works well with it. It’s a pretty amazing talent! The wall paint,
granite, and the color of the wood cabinets all go together in a craftsman style and the colors are beautiful!
The actual construction started on Memorial Day weekend 2012 and was finished so we could move in in late September2012. October saw finishing touches and some adjustments.
I can’t say enough about how well we all worked together and the idea exchange.
has a flair for design and practical application which I was able to appreciate as a
client. (She is a really fine cook in
her home and we’ve enjoyed invitations to her table with pleasure. Not only do I have a beautiful kitchen but 2
years later I love it even more! It’s a great Holiday family gathering place and everyone has a good time. It works
great every day and for large groups and holidays! And we didn’t have to build/buy a new house to get it!

Our gauge for a great provider,
1. Returns call promptly to give an estimate.
2. Shows up on day of appointment for the estimate
3. Gives us the quote in a timely manner and schedules the work in a resonable amount of time.
met all of these items!!! The work was scheduled and on the day of installation the sod was delivered first and the workers showed up right on time. They worked very hard and seemed to have pride in their job. The lead was able to answer questions about watering etc.
After the lawn was in for 3 weeks we had a couple of spots that were burned (as the original sod was installed on at 99d day). We called
who promptly returned our call and came out. He addressed our issues and they were fixed within
several days.
With all of the landscape companies in our area these folks are at the top of our list. They care about the job they do and about great customer service. We would recommend them as well as use them again,

This contractor is incredibly professional! We originally hired him to paint the entire inside of our house. He was professional, courteous, and prompt. His staff did an excellent job. Any questions we had were immediately answered. He responds quickly to email, text, or phone call. He is able to schedule the work to be done within days. We appreciated his work so much that we have since hired him to refinish our wood floors, fix a leak in our ceiling, and patch a hole in the ceiling.

. When I discovered a crack in my bathtub, I decided to replace it with a walk-in shower. The estimate from

to remodel the entire bathroom was close to the two estimates I received for the just the tub-to-shower conversion. After receiving a ball-park estimate from the partners, I met with partners

to pick out the shower, commode, vanity, medicine cabinet and light fixtures at Home Depot. After making my choices, the estimate was finalized. There were many challenges. The first shower I picked out was discontinued so I had to make another choice. The new shower was 36 x 60 instead of 30 x 60. As a result, plumbing changes were needed as the the commode needed to be moved. Also, the drain for the shower needed to move from the right side to the center. A new vent with light was installed in the shower and a new light fixture installed above the medicine cabinet. I only have one bathroom, so the guys prioritized the job so that the shower was installed and usable within two days. The commode was reset as soon as possible each time it needed to be removed. All of the work was completed by the partners. They work weekends and evenings, which worked with my schedule as I did not need to take time off work or make arrangements for someone to be at the house. They promised I would have the shower installed and usable by Sunday evening and to have the entire job completed within two weeks. They kept their promises. The work area was cleaned up each day before they left. I would definitely use them again.

I hired
Ephrata Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to update my bathrooms, replace carpeting with Pergo, and replace a carpeted stairway with wood treads. They offer professional service with a lot of good communication about the work being done and were instrumental in advising on selections and helping to stay on budget.

was very patient when I had to make decisions and allowed me to purchase several of the items I wanted; whether I would buy the materials myself or just have him purchase the items and add it to the bill was completely up to me. He also made several suggestions about layout and materials that were an improvement over what I had planned.

The team responsible for demolishing the old shower were professional and timely. However, I was told it would take three days and be available before the weekend. They actually took a day and a half longer. The worker who was installing the new shower was running behind because he had a doctor's appointment. I didn't know about eh appointment until he had to leave at noon on Friday. He did come back Saturday to finish the gluing/adhesive process, but he couldn't finish until the glue had dried. So it took two more days and then I had to let the whole thing dry for 24 hours following installation. I would not have let them start on a Wednesday if I had known it would take as long as it did.
I thought the price was high for the product. Although it looks nice, I think I should have had more quotes for shower replacements before I chose a contractor.
