Basement Waterproofing Reviews in Bethel Park

My wife,
, and I purchased our
Park home in June of 2012. Shortly before closing on the house, the inspector noticed the front wall had a significant bow to it. The previous tenant didn't have any gutters - and the subsequent rainfall in the front yard was causing the soil to push the wall in. We had wall anchors installed at that time - so the bowing was stopped. The anchors were installed by
- NOT Aqua Guard. They have held up great.
So, after some time we noticed the water had penetrated the blocks of hour home foundation... and was continuing to leak in. We received a few quotes - and, with price being the deciding factor, we chose Aqua Guard. We signed a contract for them to install an interior french drain with a sump pump to haul the water out and away from the house. To this date - the total quality of work is yet to be determined... because we just haven't had a significant rain or snowstorm since. Despite this, I'm ready to submit my review based on the assumption that it will all work smoothly. If not, I'll be sure to submit an update and/or second review.
Off of the criteria (above) - the price was fair... it was the least expensive that we found for a comparable job... despite being very expensive to a middle class family. The overall quality looks alright... the pump seems to be installed correctly in the corner - and the cement work afterwards looks good. However - the responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were really lacking.
I was advised that someone would need to be present for the duration of the job. My wife was working - so I took the day off to be there... should anything go wrong. Inevitably, it did. We were told they would arrive by 9am - no show. We were called at 11am and told they would be there at Noon - no show. I called them at 1:30pm and was told they were seven minutes out - seven minutes later... no show. Finally around 2:30pm (five an a half hours later) the workers show up. Their leader assured me they were sorry and that they would work as quickly as possible. While I sat upstairs - I could hear the workers laughing and having a good time while they jackhammered my basement floor. I'm all for having a good time while working... but not when you arrive that late to a job. They quit around 5pm - leaving my basement a complete mess and unusable for the entire weekend... with a pile of gravel laying in my driveway, too. They showed up mid-morning that following Monday to "finish up". They left no instruction manual, didn't speak with my wife to see if we had any questions - NOTHING.
Having missed a complete day of work, not having a clue as to how to operate the pump (or if instructions were needed at all), and no sign of real remorse on the secretary's part - I was livid. I haggled with the secretary to see what could be done to remedy the situation - given the circumstances. In no fewer than three e-mails I was reminded of how unpredictable their line of work can be... and, of course, that I still owed the full balance.
Again, the jury is still out on how well the system works. But, given the criteria right now - I'm still a very unhappy customer and would not choose to conduct business again with Aqua Guard. I'd actually go as far as discouraging family, friends, and potential customers from doing business with them. If you value your time - do some more searching before you decide on a company.

After my husband's death, I began to have water leaking down my basement walls. I had a number of estimates of what to do & initially decided on a wall with a french drain behind it. It did not help. I then had my patio dug up & had a french drain put along my outside wall, where the water was coming inside. The water leaking down the wall stopped, but I was now getting water coming in where the wall met the floor. After spending over $15,000 & still having water in my basement, someone suggested an indoor french drain. After getting 3 estimates from businesses listed in the Angie's List, I chose
(KBS). They were not the cheapest estimate, but
, the owner who gave me the estimate, was so knowledgeable and seemed to be truly honest and caring. The 3 men that came out to do the indoor french drain and sump pump insulation were excellent, answered all my questions, never making me feel stupid or that I was bothering them, and cleaned up the area when they were done. I expected a lot more dust & dirt, but they kept it to a minimum. With a long extension cord, they ran the sump pump to an electrical outlet, with which I was not pleased. When I talked to Mr.
about this, he offered to pay 1/2 of the bill to have an electrician come in & put an electrical outlet next to the pump. About a month after the installation & a heavy rain, I observed a trickle of water on the floor in the corner. After one call to Mr.
, a worker came & made a minor adjustment that fixed it. They indoor french drain & sump pump stopped the water from coming in. I just wish I had done this first instead of all the outside work & money I wasted. To show you what an honest & wonderful company Keyston Basement Systems is, please let me share with you what happen in
of 2010. I had just accepted an offer to sell my house, when we had an extremely bad storm & I noticed water coming down a side wall & onto the floor, where I did not have the indoor french drain. I called Mr
to see how much it would cost to extend the french drain. He came out & decided the problem could be easily fixed without extending the drain & since I had not taken him up on his previous offer regarding the electritian's bill, he had it fixed without charging me. He could have easily ripped me off & extended the indoor french drain, but he did not! I would totally trust him & his company to do future work in my new home, if a water problem arose. I highly recommend
to all Angie's List customers!

These guys were wonderful. I obtained 3 estimates for this work (moisture problem on 3 of 4 basement walls, mudroom & bowing of back wall of house).

Foundations was actually the least expensive of the 3 and these guys really knew what they were talking about. If the work doesn't need performed, they will honestly tell you that it doesn't need fixed (my garage wall was bowed more than the basement wall). Considering what a dirty/messy job it is to dig up your basement, they really did a nice job restoring the area and cleaning up after themselves. The basement was pristine upon completion. They even taped off the door to the upstairs to prevent dust from migrating upstairs. All work was completed within 4 business days & I was provided with a final walk through, inspection & a

Obtained their name through Angie's List. Highly rated. Price was much cheaper than competitor. Work was done in a day and a half. The job was a bit more than they expected because they had to dig a bit deeper. No extra charge. Approximately 72 feet of french drain installed. Sump pump below floor level. Workers were pleasant. We had to change schedule at the last minute and they were very accommodating. Believe they delivered a very good product at a very good price.
