"
has a lot of business, so it can take a while to schedule. But they did a very good job. Also, the representative who came out, inspected" the crawl space, did not try to sell me something I didn't need. He said I didn't have any mold issues. The workers worked very quickly and were done in one day.

"About a 1000 sq ft crawlspace was encapsulated and a dehumidifier was installed.
arrived as scheduled and finished as planned. There were" no problems. Since this is a summer home, I am unable to make further comments until such time that I return to this home.
made the best presentation and submitted the best proposal. Their price was the highest. That is why I gave them an overall "B".

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Showed up, worked hard, very punctual, and professional. Made the entire deal very easy. Cleaned up afterwards, ensuring that the encapsulation was "clean" as well.

provided a very detailed explanation of the problems causing water to seeping up through my basement floor and/or puddle in corners. Concurrently, I received an equally detailed description of the recommended solution. Active guaranteed 100% satisfaction for as long as I owned the house and this guarantee would transfer to new owners.
The work crew arrived as scheduled and completed the work in the time quoted (3 days). As to be expected, there is some residual clean up to do on the floor after the new cement is fully cured, but nothing a good mopping won't resolve. Follow-up questions were responded to immediately.
I would recommend Active without reservation.

It was easy to schedule a free home estimate and the appointment was made quickly. A full analysis was provided for our existing water proofing system for which we're not entirely happy with. Christian suggested a new system and thoroughly explained the how and why of what was proposed. There was no pushy sales pitch, which is generally standard with waterproofing contractors.
The quote for the work was reasonable and we'll go through with it at some point depending on availability of money and severity of the existing issues.

provided an estimate while I was in contract negotiations for extensive wood replacement in the crawl space of a home I was purchasing due to powder post beetles. I was concerned at the time that due to the amount of damage and work required that this would be a deal breaker. They provided a very reasonable estimate and completed the work once I moved into the home. The workers were very professional and kept a very clean workspace. All debris was cleaned up and removed. They even came back on Saturday to complete the dryer vent installation. Would definitely recommend for crawl space needs.

I used this waterproofing company cost me over 9500.00 and i still have the same problem. they dug up my basement and now they are out of business. I had mold on the wall in a certain area, they told me it was leaking water, the mold came back so that wasn't the problem. On top of that they put in a filter and there was a $25.00 to have the filter maintenenced and now i cant have it serviced because the company is out of business.

Our master bedroom and bath are over a

was friendly and professional and didn't try to oversell us on things we just didn't need. The other company that we obtained a bid from were twice as much for encapsulation, didn't find the holes, didn't check out the exterior drains, proposed a secondary sup-pump and humidifier, both of which we don't need. Our master bedroom and bath are much warmer now.

Everything went well; all interactions were professional; every appointment was kept and arrival was prompt. The work was completed as promised. The quality of the work looks outstanding. It will take some time, and more rain, to determine for sure if the solution worked, but I believe it will.

The job went very smoothly..
Altoona Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the owner, and his work crew were very professional, courteous and efficient.
He gave me a detailed plan of what they were going to do and what the cost would be. After they started, I added a little extra work and that was no problem for them. They were extremely careful to try and leave the area as clean or cleaner than it was before they came.Given that they had to breakup up the concrete with a jackhammer which raised a lot of concrete dust, they contained the dust by hanging sheets of plastic around the work areas and doing a great job of cleaning up after. They were punctual, the work was done in a timely manner and they were efficient. We had rain after they left and everything worked as it should and there was no more leakage in the basement.I would give them a strong recommendation.
