I contacted
based upon the reviews on Angie's List to get an estimate prior to having a moving date.
came out and at that time I was not sure of everything that I was going to move but he gave me a range of $1,400 to $1,800. When I had a date he came back and I had a better idea of what I was keeping and the final estimate came in at $1,550. He then returned 2 more times to deliver boxes and wardrobes for my move.
was always responsive whether I contacted him by phone or text messaging. When the day for the move came
was there to pack the truck while 2 other very competent, respectful and pleasant men carried my belongings out. I wanted
to pack several items for me including 2 flat screen TV's and monitors as well as lamps and pictures. This was done with care and all items reached my destination safely. I was concerned about the ride up here, but my concerns were quickly abated when I saw how
was following me. He always stayed a safe distance behind me (I hate tail gating) and we were able to coordinate lane changes, etc. That may not be a big deal to everyone, but it was important to me. When everything was unloaded safely I found that a large butcher block kitchen cart would not fit in my new home. My son is now in the home where I was living and he could use it, so I asked
if they could take it back down to Pennsylvania with them. Fortunately
lives only a few blocks from me so they were returning the truck there anyway so it wasn't out of their way. They happily agreed to do this and they delivered it around 9:30 that evening, that with a start of about 7:30 am made for a very long way. I highly recommend
. If I ever move back to Pennsylvania I would use their services again.

The move went very well. They were professional and knew what they were doing. It started raining half way through the move but they didn't stop. It took about 8 hours to complete and I was very happy with the results.

We have used this company a number of times, as has my extended family. They provide a very good service for the price. We moved our own lamps, clothes and breakables, but they moved everything else, taking apart beds and putting them back together, etc. I do recommend this company. They are honest and reliable, and provide a good service for the price with local moves in the

Valley. I also understand that they are the mover for DeSales University.

Ok I will tell you how I called
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
less than 24 hrs ago because I needed to moving this morning after the Movers I hired a month ago totally flaked on me ...no call no show...with wishfull thinking that they may be able to squeeze me in at least in a week. These guys showed this morning bright and early and did their thing. I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for them. With a disabled husband and myself recovering from cancer treatment there was no way we were able to do this move alone. These movers are quick and professional. And came through for me. I am so thankful for them. I wish I had more to give them. Thank you thank you thank you. Mrs

Shiveley's was great. I called them in a panic when another moving company who promised to pack and move us cancelled two days before our pack/move date. Shiveley's was awesome. They told me they could pack me on Sunday (in 2 days) and move me on that Tuesday. They were very apologetic that they had no time to send anyone out to give me an estimate and also that they had to pack one day and move on another, which didn't bother me; after all they were doing me a favor at the last minute so I wasn't about to complain.
The packers arrived on time (a few minutes early) and packed almost everything on Sunday by 2 pm but had to stop then because they ran out of packing materials. They asked if I would mind if they came early on Tuesday and pack the last hour or so our stuff. I said fine with me and again they came on time and packed/loaded everything carefully and efficiently on Tuesday.
At out new farm house they did an incredible job unloading under some difficult circumstances: It poured rain all day and night, it was extremely cold and very windy. Our headboard didn't fit up our curved staircase so they had to take it apart and reassemble it. They worked a long day without a lunch break and basically had a trying day all around.
All of our belongings made it to our new house without any breakage or scratches. They were very careful even though they had a long, hungry, wet, cold day. It took them until about 10:30 PM to unload everything and the entire time all the men had smiles on their faces and were happy and joking around with us.
I LOVE Shiveley's, that i why I always call them when I have to move. I don't know why I ever called the "other" movers this time since they stood us up and in the end Shiveley's cost was less than the other guys quote and their service was top notch as always.

I am disabled so I can't do very much physical labor, so I called
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
to come to my house and give an estimate to pack and move my belongings approximately 30 miles away. A representative and his associate came about a day later and looked around and asked a few questions. They said they would email me an estimate in 24 hour. I stressed that I have 1 month to be out of my current home and both said that would not be a problem that they would take care of everything.
I waited and waited for an estimate, after a week I called the main office in
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
where I was told they could put me through to my agents voice mail. I left a voice mail and waited for a return call but received none. I called the voice mail again and asked that he please return my call. By this time half the month was gone. I once again received no return call.
Finally on the 19th of the month I sent an email to my agent and made it clear that if I don't hear from him that day I would be looking elsewhere for moving services. Instantly I received a response stating that they can't (or wouldn't ??) move me. Their reason being was that they were to busy, yes but I should have been one of those people on the list making them busy. After all I did call a month in advance and was told it was not a problem. I asked when they could move me and was told it would be maybe sometime after December 18th, maybe.
I went from both of the agents visiting my home telling me that it would be no problem to move me out by the end of the month (November) to maybe after December 18th.
I was stuck with a lease that expired the end of the month and it was already the 19th and I had no movers. Luckily a local company stepped up and squeezed me in.
I think
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
decided they could make more money elsewhere (maybe moving a business) than moving me. I find what they did irresponsible and back handed. I would not ever trust them again to even move a dog house! Simply put they lied and waited to the last minute to let me know that they decided not to move me.

Did not use this service as
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
was very slow to return calls, unwilling to come to the house to give an estimate (when other movers would), and never followed thru on sending an email to give a quote. Very unprofessional. Would not hire him.

I will start with the positives. The person in charge,
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
, was easy to get in contact with, friendly and responsive to questions. Their rates seemed reasonable and they were flexible about when they were able to do the work. That is when the good experience ended.

I should have read the other review more closely, because this company are not professional movers. They are college kids who move things, which for us is a huge difference. It is like hiring a few of your friends to come over and help and not employees that have extensive experience with moving. To be fair, we are very anal about our things and our recently remodeled home. But we have done 3 long distance moves in 4 years, so I can make a fair assessment of movers. They didn't have any tools and didn't know how to take any furniture apart.

We needed them to move dressers upstairs and on the first piece they tried to carry up they gouged our newly installed hardwood floor and came close to ruining our new staircase. They knew they did it, and never apologized. Once I realized that they were inexperienced, I felt like I had to watch them very carefully. They still banged up a few other pieces of furniture, again never apologized and even seemed annoyed by us telling them to be more careful. I have never had a mover have such blatant disregard for my belongings. Usually they are smart enough to at least be more careful when I am standing right there! Also, they were not very personable, although they probably hated us because we must have said to be more careful at least a 100 times . We had them move the pieces that my husband and I knew we couldn't carry on our own. Even though it was only an hour into the 2 hour minimum, we told them we didn't need them any more. We didn't want to risk more damage to our house that we just spent months and thousands of dollars remodeling.

I just don't think they cared as much, compared to professional movers since this is not their full time job. Maybe when I was in my twenties and moving between apartments they might have been fine. But I would not recommend them if you have any interest in keeping your belongings or home intact.

Update due to the company's response: The response from the company was not an accurate depiction of the situation. I specifically remember telling him that it was bedroom furniture that needed to go up the stairs (which I think implies a dresser). Also, I remember telling him about one very heavy piece that we have for the master bedroom. This didn't go up the stairs and only needed to be moved 25 feet. Regarding this piece he told me as long as my husband was home in case they needed extra help 2 people were sufficient. The dresser that did go up the stairs was not 350 pounds. It isn't expensive furniture and the drawers were out of it so there is no way it was that heavy, just a dresser that is a long awkward piece of furniture. My husband and I have moved it multiple times by ourselves, but I couldn't move it this time because I was pregnant. It wasn't swiveled over a railing. From the response, it sounds that the person I made the arrangements with was actually here moving the furniture, which was not the case. I was the only one both making the arrangements and here the day of the move. Additionally, I wrote the original review shortly after the move, so the details were fresh in my mind compared to several months later by a person not here. Given the unprofessional response from the company you can gage the maturity of the company for yourself.

These gentlemen were incredibly polite and courteous, punctual and worked very hard.
They use a rented truck which was fine, suggested that I obtain a permit to block parking in front of our rowhome which I would not have known I could do. They were quite prompt.
My only real criticsm would be that
Allentown Movers Provider Name Locked
did not accept my offer to come over and look at what we needed to move. He asked for a synopsis over the phone and estimated about 4-5 hrs. While I listed off the biggest furniture items, it would have been better if he'd looked for himself. Instead of 4-5 hrs the men worked from 8:30am to 6:30pm with only a short break for lunch. It was a very hot day and we did help them as well. They ended up making 3 trips back and forth (thankfully we were only 15min from our old home).
There were things that we'd hoped would have been moved that didn't get moved but by 10hrs of extremely hard work, we decided that the men had had enough for one day and we'd just have to deal with the rest later.
All of our items were treated with as much respect as we were and I would definitely recommend them overall.
