"When speaking with the owner who does initial interview he was A+. He explained in detail what was going to happen and why, how it would be done and the materials" to be used. He answered all questions and never acted like I was being dumb about any of the questions I had - which was very nice. The workers were very prompt and finished the project promptly. The work that they did was very good work and professionally done. I have no complaints about the work that was preformed at all. My problem was the workers treated me with the attitude that I was bothering them with my questions and that I was being dumb about my questions - which I really hate. They expected me to hook the washing machine hoses back up and when I asked them to show me how since I have never done that before they responded you just hook hot to hot and cold to cold. I had to ask two more times to have them actually show me since the hoses nor the hookups were marked hot and cold. It was indeed
to do however if you've never done it before you do need to be shown what to do. They cleaned up the concrete pieces but they did not sweep the floor inside the house where they walked in and out so I was left to clean that dirt up myself. Basically it was the interaction with the two head workers that was the problem. I would probably use them again since the job was done professionally and very well but I would address this issue with the owner before the work was started so it didn't happen again.

"I asked if someone could come over to make sure my sump pump was operating properly; because the snow will be melting, rain in the Spring, etc.. They sent someone" right over, he ran the pump, checked all the wires, etc. and everything ran perfectly.

Contractors say homeowners with this trait are the most satisfied with home improvement projects.

The damage done by neglecting a crawl space is likely affecting you more than the eye can see, says Vallone. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Nancy T. of Seattle)

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Veneta

Everything went according to estimate - cost and time. In and out in one day for waterproofing. A second day, a few weeks after radon testing to install abatement system. Both crews were very professional - clean-up was excellent (little dust or mess to deal with). Highly recommend this business.

We scheduled the start date for a monday morning at 10:30.At 10:10 they called to cancell and said they would be there the next day.Tuesday morning they called at 8amm, to let me know that they were not gonna make it.I was mad because I had taken of work and their excuse did not sound very convincing. So we rescheduled for the following week and they came monday morning and started working on the basement. I didn't have to be home while they were working on it so off to work I went.I thought I might get an update throughout the week but I did not here from them until thursday, when they told me they could not

it again becaus eof the weather. They did however ask me if we liked the work they had done so far.I asked them to call me back the next day to let me know what day they were planning on finishing and to let me know the exact amount so I could write a check. They did not call me back so I called again the next day to get the information I needed. They finally finished on friday and called me to let me know they were leaving the house now.
Overall I'm satisfied with their work. The basement looks good and it only took them 5days. The lack of communication however was dissapointing. It made them look unprofessional. I did not feel like I knew what was going on and when you are paying almost $7000 you wanna make sure that everything is going the way its supposed to.

Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was referred to me by my brother who had his basement waterproofed by them. My brother has had water in his basement for years and
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew eliminated that problem. My brother is still very happy with his now dry basement, going on three years, and the high level of quality of work performed by

and his crew.

recently came by our house to provide an estimate for us.
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was right on time, even with the winter weather, was very professional and detailed in his explanation of the work to be performed. We had been shopping among other contractors listed in Angie’s List, so

knew that he was in a competitive bid.
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
’s price was one of the best that we received but, we went with another very similar contractor, similar in professionalism, etc. It was pretty much a coin toss between

's bid and the contractor that we selected, in all facets, price, detail, professionalism, etc.
Even though we choose not to use

, based on my brother’s and my experiences, I would highly recommend him among most of the other contractors listed here on Angie's List.

Our meeting went well. We called around 9pm the night before and Christian showed up right on time before 8am the next morning. He stayed with us for about 90 minutes and answered all of our questions very patiently. He explained that the french drain that we had already installed in our house (20+ years ago) was no longer functioning properly and likely needed to be replaced. That, along with some slight efflorescence on the floor and scaling on the walls, indicated that we needed to take action. Christian explained that his drain system would resolve all of the issues we were facing and would keep our basement dry in the future. The work is scheduled for next week.
The work went very smoothly. Christian and his team finished the job in about 1.5 days and just had to come back another day to patch a crack in the wall. They tarped everything off to contain the dust as must as possible which was great. and they even rehooked up the laundry machines and utility sink when they were finished and the new concrete was cured.
It has now been about two months since this service and Christian has still been involved. Last week we noticed a few hairline cracks along the

between the old concrete and new and he came to check them out.
Overall, this company has remained professional, courteous, prompt, and above-and-beyond helpful through the whole process. Although we spent more than we originally intended (since it was a more serious problem than anticipated) I am confident it will be a great investment.
- Meredith T.

The workers were neat and professional. The Forman did every thing I asked of him. There was a problem because the original iron railing would not fit back on the new stoop and was not part of the original estimate.
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
did everything possible to make me satisfied . Got an excellent price on the new railing. After over two and one half years and all the storms we have had not one drop of water has gotten into the basement. I highly recommend this company.

Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
has a lot of business, so it can take a while to schedule. But they did a very good job. Also, the representative who came out, inspected the crawl space, did not try to sell me something I didn't need. He said I didn't have any mold issues. The workers worked very quickly and were done in one day.

About a 1000 sq ft crawlspace was encapsulated and a dehumidifier was installed.
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived as scheduled and finished as planned. There were no problems. Since this is a summer home, I am unable to make further comments until such time that I return to this home.
Veneta Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
made the best presentation and submitted the best proposal. Their price was the highest. That is why I gave them an overall "B".
- William B.

Showed up, worked hard, very punctual, and professional. Made the entire deal very easy. Cleaned up afterwards, ensuring that the encapsulation was "clean" as well.

- Mike L.
