"He misappropriated our funds and was over-budget. He was severely delayed. He used an unlicensed electrician to install a new breaker box and outlets and they" were both done in violation of code, almost causing a house fire. He uses the trade names All Studs and
Siding & Roofing.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

http://indigochreblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0835.jpg

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

Your better off doing it yourself. My stairs are falling apart. Trim doesnt match. Trim not cut right. Sloppy caulk and wood glue all over everything. Project was rushed in the end. These guys are looking to make a quick buck. I d pay them more if they actually took there time and did things right. A lot of time and money was wasted here. I am now redoing most of there work. Floor wasnt leveled when they put flooring down. Floor dips all over the place. You can tell were they said they leveled it but why would it dip if they did? Lots of short cuts were made. But by the time you realize it there gone with your money.
In the begining stages it went very well. Then towards the end I had felt they rushed to get things done. So when they finally got done with my house. I had some time to look at there work. I re looked at a lot of the things they did. I found lots of detail missed. Some of the things don't even match . Lots of caulk everywhere, Which left a lot of sloppy work being done. They would put a piece of trim up and crack it with the nail they used. Then they would just leave it. They also left a lot of nails sticking out. So I have a lot of trim that I am going to have to take it off and cut a new piece. They took a lot of short cuts in their work. They left random things laying around the house for the dog to get. They were pretty messy with things not carefull at all. They were very good at dog sitting. Nice people. Just the typical home hackers though Good at drywalling and mudding I d pay more next time to get things done correctly. and not half assed. I got what I paid for.. I am just glad its over with, This took a month to complete with being it over the holidays a week off and they took vaction during that time. I am sure there are somethings they are good at. I called
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
about it. He wanted to come back and take care of it. I just didnt want them to come back. Figured if they didnt care enuff the first time why would they care then. I am not sure how they walked away from this and think I would be happy with there hack job thanks guys.....

Mr.
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
came within a week of our phone call for the initial visit and was punctual each visit. He gave me an estimate and asked for a deposit prior to performing the service. He had to order parts and return to fix it another day. Upon returning, he fixed one drawer as he had planned and noted that it was not as secure as he would have liked, so he came back another day to finish the work after purchasing more parts. I appreciated his extra effort to make sure the work was done well. Both of us were busy so it took longer than I had anticipated to complete the job, but he was always professional and pleasant, and it was a pleasure working with him.

As mentioned above,
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
arrived exactly on time, calling in advance. We had the list of all jobs, wanting him to start with the front door, which he did. The most time consuming task was rebuilding the base of the two columns on either side of the door, then the grout for the tub and sink. The window now opens freely. In my estimation, all were done about as quickly as possible, and everything looks wonderful and works!. All of the original estimates were right on. I would recommend

to anyone and actually already have today! We will definitely ask him for his expert services in the future.

was on time, behaved professionally, was upbeat, and completed all the tasks I asked of him in 3 hours. I was pleasantly surprised at his abilities and how quickly he did the work. Without

Overall,
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
was extremely prompt, kind, and did a wonderful job. I very much appreciated him coming to my new home and helping to make it a space I can call home. He was able to work on everything that we discussed in our initial assessment (hang curtains, pictures, mirrors, realign a door, look into my furnace and my washing machine, etc). He did a wonderful job in a timely manner, and was a complete pleasure to have in my home. I will certainly be using him again as well as would be happy to refer him to others that I love.

was hard-working, courteous, professional, and punctual. He made three trips out. One for an estimate, one for two days of the actual job, and a final trip out to take care of a few additional items we decided to have repaired. He was always on time and always tried to work with my schedule. He gave one of the best prices of several estimates for the work and was also the most willing to brainstorm potential alternative solutions for the the problems in my home. I had him working on unrelated projects in three rooms on two floors and also on the exterior of my home. I was repeatedly surprised by what an efficient job he did juggling all the projects at the same time and was also surprised to see him jogging up and down the stairs, taking short lunches, and more or less being as fast as possible. He needed to subcontract a bit of the effort to a plumber with appropriate licensing and
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
handled all that efficiently and seamlessly from my perspective as well.
Overall, I appreciated
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
's professionalism, quality of work, speed of work, and good price for the value. I would not hesitate to use his services again. He's a good guy that did a good job for me.

and
Stayton Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
arrived and got right to work. Our ceilings are very high so, they needed to use scaffolding for the job. They covered our wood floors and took great care not to damage them. They changed out our broken fan motor and installed the manufacturer supplied replacement. They moved right on to hanging the large piece of artwork on our wall. They worked well as a team and were polite and professional. No mess was left behind for me to clean up, either! I am very satisfied with the job they did and would call
