My internet service would stop working. I would call the phone number on the statement. After finally talking with a person with an accent that I could not understand very well since I am hearing impaired, they would finally get my internet service working. This would happen frequently, every week to 10 days for the past 3 or 4 months. I finally called another phone number from the ad in the phone book and got a completely different response. By this time the internet service could not be restored so they sent me a new modem (which made no difference in the situation). I finally had my grand daughter come to my house and call for me as they would not accept a call from another phone number, she was on the phone for an hour. This was Wednesday evening and they decided to send a technician to check out everything at my house and it would be Monday before they could come. It was a good thing I was home as they showed up on Friday. The technician did call, but it was another person with an accent I could not understand. The problem is resolved for now as there were adjustments needed outside on the roof. I have repeatedly told them I am hearing impaired and all they do is shout, which does not help.

I spent one week, at least 4 hours on hold and being transferred from one supervisor to another, one manager to another, and got absolutely nothing. They refused to acknowledge that rate was ever available and basically told me I was lying. Since our house was for sale, we waited until it sold to cancel.
When we finally cancelled and went to AT&T phone and internet,

refused to transfer our old phone number for weeks when they said it would take, at most, 2 days. I can only assume they were irritated we cancelled and decided to prolong our misery with them.
Our internet connection never very good and they clearly "throttle" Netflix and Hulu. So much so that even at the worst setting on Netflix, it still stopped quite a bit. It was okay enough to watch, but very annoying.
And the last issue, every time it rained, their outside cable would get wet and stop working. They reinstalled it a couple of times, but it never got any better. They wouldn't ever say what the problem really was.

will do everything in it's power to avoid fixing the actual issue. You have to document and force them to accept what is actually happening for them to fix the problem. If you do not do this they will continue to put band aids on a gaping wound.
I documented and saved all pings,

routes, as well as outages in an easy to see picture for them to understand. They finally went out and tested the incoming signal directly from their power line source to find the problem was their cable.
Ever since they replaced the cable, the service has been absolutely amazing, no complaints at all. It's just getting them to do that took years of convincing and them repeatedly replacing equipment I told them was not the problem.
They also have amazing customer service that you just don't get anywhere else. The prices are premium, the service is premium.
Downside is they will not allow other companies like Google fiber in, I've seen them doing this by abusing the Nebraska laws and corrupt politicians in nebraska. Nothing we can really do but accept it, not many people care to make a big deal since

keeps their prices reasonable even if there could be other options.

I had signed up for the initial AT&T package of cable, internet, and phone back in May of 2014. When I signed up for the package I was promised that several channels I like would be included which were not once the cable was installed. My initial install was supposed to be on June 6, 2014. This did not happen because someone in AT&T switched the install without letting us know but did have my phone shut off without installing (they were supposed to switch my phone line) so we had no land line. Commons, the head sales coordinator for Northwest Ohio and phone support from the "escalation department". It has been a very disheartening experience and frustrating. I wish there were big businesses that would stand behind their product. The idea of disconnecting everything again and reinstalling another system again is incredibly tedious and frustrating. I have not had continuous service since I received the activation over 2 months ago. What is considered reasonable time to get work done or at least give a reasonable response or solution?! I hope this helps others out there before signing up.

The price for

service is outrageous. $132.00 a month for basic cable with NO premium channels and internet is ridiculous, but they know they have a lot of consumers over a barrel because there aren't any options. Trust me, you haven't made any friends here and the minute there are options, people WILL be leaving.
Management needs to get off the golf course, look at their pricing, service and value and rethink their business model. Your shareholders are customers too and we're all pretty unhappy!

They laid a temporary cable above ground and said another crew would be by in a few weeks to bury it. This was the last step in recovering our service from various signal 'upgrades' that started in March 2011. It started when I was without internet service for 4 days because of an increase in their carrier frequency in anticipation of faster service. But instead of faster service I ended up with no service. They canceled three service calls automatically because their techs kept on claiming the problem was resolved at the street. It wasn't and only when I cornered a service tech on the street and got him to come inside and test the signal did I they believe that the problem was with the line to my house.
The tech was able to call for a cable crew that could replace the line from the street to a pole on the property. From there it goes another 100' underground to the house. That overhead cable replacement restored by internet service but not at the speed for which I was paying.
The 2012 service request was when they switched to Xfinity service. My internet speed dropped to 300KB/s. This time they fixed within 24 hrs with the temporary cable.
I work from home so both of these incidents were very disruptive. The first time I couldn't work at all from home and had to divide my time at the library/cafe and home waiting for service technicians that never showed up.
While I have decent speed now (15 mb/s down, 5 mb/s up) it's much more expensive than what I paid in Phila for RCN's internet service. I don't have much choice here though since the Fairpoint can only offer speeds less than half for a bit less money.
