Business Description: OHI Construction, the Oregon Home Improvement Company, has provided restoration and remodel services to Oregon and Southwest Washington for almost 60 years. OHI is family owned and run. We employ all our own carpenters and use subcontractors only for specialty phases such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. OHI prides itself on providing high quality craftsmanship as some of our carpenters have been with us for over 30 years! Unlike newer companies, chain companies and large construction companies with several different divisions, OHI treats its employees and customers with much more personal care. OHI strives to build relationships and longtime customer loyalty. Word-of-mouth advertising and a solid reputation for honest, quality work are our best publicity. We find it is important to build strong and trusting relationships with quality subcontractors as well in order to deliver the best overall product to our customers. This is why OHI estimators obtain sub-bids from more than one subcontractor for any given phase and why production personnel constantly monitor subcontractor performance with control checks and oversight as appropriate. Another important aspect of subcontractor selection is economics – so, while OHI does prefer to work with tried and tested subcontractors, sometimes it makes economic sense to go with a lesser known subcontractor. Since OHI stands behind its work and that of its subcontractors, our customers are the ultimate beneficiaries of all our efforts in this area. OHI usually maintains an average of 45 employees between its home office in Lake Oswego, Oregon and satellite office in Salem, Oregon and has done a good job working hard to retain as many of our loyal employees as possible through the down economic times. OHI believes it is important to treat our people well by providing employees with a "well-rounded" benefits package that includes full health coverage and deductible reimbursement. OHI also assumes responsibility for field personnel's travel and work expenses associated with performing jobs and in some cases provide vehicles and assistance with tool purchases and maintenance. OHI maintains our own structural estimators on staff as well. OHI estimators work primarily with the Xactimate estimating program which is a comprehensive compilation of up-to-date pricing for construction materials and servicing. Most major insurance companies utilize Xactimate which is also area specific in its pricing research. This enables OHI to work well with insurance representatives to assist customers in working through insurance claims and the unique issues that arise with putting homes and businesses back together after an unfortunate damaging event. Another unique aspect to OHI Construction is our recognition that whether we are repairing a damaged structure or providing remodel services, we understand that the construction process can be daunting and somewhat stressful to customers as they see their structure damaged or in disarray. Our administrative staff, estimators, production personnel and field carpenters have extensive experience addressing customer concerns and acting in a compassionate manner in order to make the process smooth and less stressful to our customers. In addition, our customers are secure knowing that OHI stands behind all of its work, including that of our subcontractors, and that OHI is generous and fair in honoring the occasional warranty request. The fact that many of our clientele end up as repeat customers throughout the years is evidence that we are a quality outfit that has, and will, endure through the ages. Finally, with the extensive amount of experience and knowledge shared between all our longtime carpenters and estimators, OHI is able to provide straight forward construction defect consulting and exploratory services. Because we are selective in the type of cases we take and careful to work only with reputable defect attorneys, OHI experts are respected for their sincerity and ability to provide facts and opinions based on working knowledge of construction conditions and issues. Thank you for your interest in reading about OHI Construction. Despite the unfortunate economic climate, OHI is going through some exciting changes and is looking forward to growing and adding to our list of satisfied customers. The Carey family owners are extremely proud of OHI Construction and all that it has accomplished and contributed to our community over the years. We hope to cross paths with you!
