I know you said you didn't want a realtor but I do know someone who is good.  Her name is Pam Hunt and she is with William E. Wood.

Otherwise I would check out interior designers.  They could make suggestions and outline some finer details that could help you stage your home.

In the meantime start packing away those personal momentos and pictures.  Clear and clean the walls.  Go with a neutral paint color throughout the house.  Oyster by Behr is a classic.  Start getting rid of clutter.  If you haven't worn it in 3 years or used it in 5....pitch it.  Depending on how long you have lived in your home the accumulation of "things" could be tremendous. Donate your unwanted and unused to a thrift store.  It is tax deductible. Get appliances off the counters in the kitchen.  Buyers want to imagine "their" things sitting there.  Get rid of heavy drapes and go with  sheers consistent throughout the house.  Make rooms look larger by chucking some furniture.  Sell it or put it in storage until you have moved.  How is the floor?   Carpet removed may reveal beautiful hardwoods that are in high demand right now.  Pets?  Get someone to come give you the "sniff" test.  We grow acustomed to the smell of our house and might not recognize pet stinkies. Make everything shine by cleaning thoroughly, and let in the light.  Bright rooms are inviting.  Dark rooms are depressing. These things will give you a head start and clear your mind for some good ides.  Good luck with your interior designer.

I have lost count of how many kitchens I have remodeled and I prefer Brushed Stainless Steel sinks. Polished will show scratched more  and with the brushed finish if you wipe with the grain with a milld scrub pad and an old time product called Bar Keepers Friend the look good almost forever. If you have any concerns about scratches in the bottom you can use a grid when needed, most sink manufacturers make them for their sinks. You say you have stains in a solid surface siink and it is probably the older generation. The newer ones have a high stone content to the mix and are less prone to this but I still prefer stainless.

Unclutterer had a post about this a few months back. While I didn't use the photo gallery method she suggested, I did check out the comments to find some other interesting solutions: http://unclutterer.com/2011/04/04/easily-hang-an-organized-photo-gallery-with-the-perfectpicturewall/

She really helped me tremendously. She’s a terrific artist and has a terrific eye for color too. I bought a piece of her artwork as well. She was very reliable. Whatever she suggested, it just all came together really well.

It was very difficult for me to get around in a furniture as I was wheelchair bound due to a knee injury. My husband and I had made a day of it and been to 4 furniture stores already and I hadn't fallen in love with a fabric yet. I needed a new couch for a previously decorated room. Finding a big purple couch isn't as easy as one would think. Surprisingly, I found a large variety of purple fabrics in 4 of 5 stores. The staff at
Jacksonville Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
Polaris worked really hard to move furniture around so my husband could navigate to look at couches in various areas of the store. I came down to 2 couches in

furnishing and 3 fabrics. I took them home along with one from a different store. I ultimately decided on one from
Jacksonville Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
so my husband and I returned there the following week (still in a wheelchair). I had the option of two different couches (in my range of requirements: length heighth, unskirted etc.). We manuvered me around the furniture so that with help I could sit on both couches. Unfortunately, I needed to do this a couple of times, especially because I spend a lot of time on the couch due to my health. Ultimately, I choose the couch I wanted and determined all the little things like shape of feet, shape of arms, corded or uncorded etc. We also tried to find a complimentary fabric for the two throw pillows that come with the couch. That took more time and effort on the part of the sales woman. She was great. We ultimately got to things like fabric protection and delivery options. The only thing I found expensive was the $100 delivery fee. They use the company 2 Men and a Truck to deliver all of their furniture. They deliver all day and evening and I really felt that the delivery cost was high but at the end of the day, it is what it is. Especially, becaust I was not willing to work out someone picking it up etc. Otherwise, I enjoyed the easy no pressure sales staff.
We were at another furniture store and simply wanted to take home a fabric sample. They insisted on setting up an appointment for their designer to come out and she informed me that she would bring the fabric I liked at their store and work on bringing other complimentary fabrics (translation: I will try to up sell you additional furniture and such that you don't need). I called and cancelled as soon as we got home that night. There was none of that at

Furnnishings. I designed and decorated my entire home down to each piece of art and every window treatment, I don't need a designer coming in and trying to change what I love. I come into my home and it gives me a sense of peace. The new couch looks absolutely great and I couldn't be happier!!!

It was less than desirable. We thought we were going to get more. It was just drawings and a conversation. The plans were just some drawings thrown together. The drawings were not comprehensive and I could've done a better job myself. They got us the drawings 2-3 weeks after they visited our house.

was great to work with. Very personable and knowledgeable. She not only set me up with the appropriate people that I needed to work with, but went with me on key appointments to make sure I was taken care of. Even responded to my questions at short notice. What is also nice is that she will work with customers to provide the level of support needed on the project(s). I will definitely hire her again in the future.

helped me with painting and drapes. She patiently identified and explained alternatives and also offered considered opinions. The project remained consistent with my vision but also incorporated the new insights I gained from working with

. The result is far superior to what would have happened if I had simply issued instructions to a contractor.

This project should have been an easy one. I just wanted to freshen up the baths and stage the house for
resale. I agreed to the price
Jacksonville Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
quoted but did not expect so many errors whether in ordering or in delivery. She blamed others and billed me for everything, including hours of ironing for drapery hanging at her hourly rate. She billed me for the granite ahead of time and held it instead of giving it to the granite co. When I called the granite co for a refund they said they did not have the money. I was so upset by all of the delays that my husband and I decided to terminate her service.
