"First of all this company goes by two names I contacted them under Driveway maintenance inc but there information now comes out as this. I called them over 2" months ago asking for an estimate I was told they would call me back to arrange a meeting so I can explain what I wanted done. No one ever called but I did leave them with the address of my building and my email, phone number, office address, cell phone number, fax, and a brief description of what I wanted done. Once I followed up with them several weeks later a very rude lady came on the phone and told me that on Feb 19 they sent me an estimate via fax and to my address two things that I never received! I asked how they gave me a quote without meeting me and without knowing what I wanted done? The lady said that I told them i wanted striping for my building done, but that was not all I wanted. when I asked the lady why no one contacted me she said "we are very busy the people go by when they can and give a quote we
’t always have time to meet with the client" I asked how then did they know what I wanted done ? She continued to get very irate with me till I finally I said im no longer interested in your service please
’t bother sending me a quote. About 10 min later the gentlemen who was supposed to have gone to my property called and was once again very rude in the message he left telling me that he called me several times on a specific day and I never answered. I know VERY well that’s not true because I had several company’s come out to give me quotes and the day they claimed to have come by and called me, I was there ALL day until 6 pm and they never showed or called. Furthermore, if they did send me the quote why did I or my secretary never receive it? I normally
’t right reviews if no service was done but just the fact that they were so rude over an obvious mistake and blatant
on there part made me want to warn others against this company. Also, now that I see they obviously have several names makes me think they are not a reliable company.

"
was very professional from beginning to end. When
initially came out he inspected the 9' x 15' concrete" patio we had installed just a few months earlier. He said the previous installer did a good job but he will do better with the addition. We had a sunroom built and a patio added on, however, when all the snow melted we realized that the patio was too small.
explained the whole process very thoroughly and told me how he was going to reinforce the joint between the old and new sections so there would be no separation down the line. I felt like
has a real passion for concrete work and treats every job like he is doing it at his house. It is very difficult to tell the difference between the two sections of patio work and I was completely satisfied with how everything turned out. I have just two small complaints were when
reinstalled the section of fence/gate that he had to take down to access my backyard, he did not line them up at the same height. He profusely apologized about it. The other was that I have a drain next to the walkway leading to the shed. I noticed after a rainfall that the water was not draining properly because of the cement now blocking the flow of water. The water still drains but a little slower.

If the state requires a contractor's license, then he needs to have a license in each state he intends to work in - plus state/local business licenses as applicable.

This does not mean there are not a lot of contractors who cross state lines without proper licensing - the penalties in may cases are not real severe and are just a fine, not criminal, so many take the chance.

As you say - argh  - many contractors are not really businessmen and have zero legal education, so many people get burned.

?

To overlay, with proper adhesion so it does not peel off, you first need to prepare the surface - typically heavy watercutting or sandblasting for concrete over concrete, or high-pressure presure washing and an asphalt (NOT water based cutback) adhesion coat before asphalt overlay.

Because of the prep cost, a concrete overlay commonly costs more than just tearingit out and replacing it, and if you are replacing it due to cracking and breaking up those cracks will almost always propogate or "reflect" through the new layer too with concrete. Ditto with asphalt overlay, though using a crack-stopper fabric can reduce (but usually not eliminate) that.

If just repairing ice melt/freeze thaw deterioration, a cementatious epoxy overlay can be used, though its life is less (normally) than new concrete. Usually used for limited areas like garage area pad, not entire driveways.

Asphalt overlays over somewhat deteriorated concrete can work well, but if not prepared and high-pressure (about 5000 psi or higher) cleaned to remove ALL deteriorated material, they can peel off because they stuck to deteriorated loose material rather than sound concrete. Again, can cost as much for a 1-1/2 to 2 inch overlay as for a 3-4 inch full replacement by the time you are done, because the prep work is labor intensive.

Even if this is just a surficial deterioration issue, I would talk to several contractors (site visit) about alternatives and let them bid both an overlay and a replacement (or whichever options they are inclined to bid on), then after getting opinions from all three and bids for all options, make your decision. I am pretty confident that total replacement will be both the most recommended and the cheapest, at probably about $2-4/SF for asphalt or 4-6/SF for concrete - commonly nearer the lower than higher range for most jobs and locales. If the overlay and replacement cost is pretty close,I would go with the replacement because overlays over concrete are always somewhat iffy as to how long they will last, especially concrete overlays.

For cost comparison, except in extreme freeze-thaw country, you can figure a concrete drive will last about twice as long as an asphalt one.

They told me it was too wet and cold. They were going to get in touch with me when it’s warmer. I emailed them last week to see if they could come out since it’s warmer. I sent them an email telling them I was terminating the deal.

Their slogan is Quality Matters, apparently that does not include customer service. I called on a Wednesday to check availability and price on black crusher fines. On Saturday morning I showed up to purchase 3 yards. The rep did not know until he went outside to load us that they only had enough to load their dump truck. The rep did offer to sell me a more expensive (about $6 per yard more) crusher fine. In my opinion they should have sold me the more expensive product for the same price as the black since they were the ones who had run out of material.

Mr.
Corvallis Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived exactly on time to provide us with an estimate to power wash pretty much everything that could be powerwashed around our home, as prep to put it on the

in a year. He was extremely amicable and knowledgeable. He spent almost an hour walking the perimeter of our home, and giving us advice as well as an understanding of what can and cannot be power washed. We found his price to be very reasonable, and have signed a contract for the work to be done in the next week or two. We did not have to put any money in up front.
I will write another comment once the work is done, and we are confident that everything will look wonderful.

We researched and received estimates from at least 6 paver companies for the same brand and type of pavers for this job.
Corvallis Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
Pavers was among the most competitive of the group. The sales person was very helpful in suggesting how to approach the transition between the driveway and courtyard and seemed to be genuinely interested in working with us to achieve the final result. We were initially hesitant about using this company because of the "B" overall rating on Angie's List and discussed the unfavorable reviews with them openly. Customers either seemed to love or hate this company, but, compared to the other contractors we received estimates from,
Corvallis Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
Pavers seemed to be more knowledgable about paver technology and installation, so we finally decided to go with them. The results on our property are stunning. The pavers transformed the front appearance of our property. I watched the installation process and asked questions along the way, all of which were answered to my satisfaction and in a timely manner. When a minor glitch arose with the symmetry of the courtyard entrance, the issue was corrected immediately and seamlessly. The workers were hardworking, polite, and professional. I was amazed at the efficiency and care that the pavers were installed. The entire job took about a week and covered about 3000 square feet. Clean up was very good and also timely. I would not hesitate to use this company again or recommend them to others. Our experiences with contractors since moving to South Florida last year has been mixed, but the job that
Corvallis Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
Pavers did for us renewed our faith that there are good contractors out there.

Came out within two days and did a very nice job. The work was well done and they are professional about it. They also checked to make sure I did not need to get a car out of the driveway before they started work.
