Watch out for low countertop prices that seem too good to be true.
Sealing granite countertops is a DIY project even a novice DIYer can handle. Follow these step-by-step instructions (with pictures) to protect your countertops.
Size, rarity of color and material are the main factors that affect the price of recycled glass countertops.
Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.
Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.
For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.
Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

For this project, I worked with Cemil from beginning to end (in-home estimate and design through implementation) via email, phone, txt, and in person. Very happy with the whole process and would love to work with Cemil again. As I wasn't home during the day most of the time, I only met couple of times at the beginning (the on-site manager who supposedly would stop by from time to time?).
Pros: Kitchen turned out great and exactly on-time! Estimate easy to follow. Good customer service, quick response. Excellent workmanship overall including the tile person (he was so good). Extra: they helped with hauling away my old basketball stand.
Improvements: Although the crew was technically capable (workmanship); I was hoping they would take better care of my property during the process and would communicate more with their PM. Even minor items that could be easily taken care of during the main project (and already agreed to) must be coordinated by me multiple times instead of them checking directly and internally with their PM for confirmation (for example, installing of a transition piece between the tile and the hardwood floor).
Overall: still an A+ and I am really glad I chose to go with
And yes, when the need for counter-tops is warranted for our house, we would definitely use
Our guest bathroom was in the worst shape, so we had to completely demolish everything. His crew arrived at our house promptly and completed the tear-down within a day. There was a miscommunication between me and my parents, so we did not have the parts that
They were nice enough to put down plastic sheeting on the ground to keep the carpet from getting dirty while they were working. All the subcontractors were very skilled, professional, and pleasant.
The quality of the tile and the workmanship was excellent. They also know their tile, so if you are looking for a professional installation and consult, these are the guys to ask over the retail home improvement outlets.
After the first bathroom neared completion, they started work on the master bedroom. They installed these beautiful shampoo boxes into the wall in the shower area, which we really like. They also were kind enough to do extra work such as the plumbing and replacing the doors, etc. for a rate that was cheaper than if I hired other contractors to do it.
They also did a good job of cleanup after they were done, and also asked us to take a few days to make sure everything was up to our satisfaction or if anything else needed tweaking or fixing. I really appreciated that.
Overall, they are very reasonable priced for the quality work they do. Actually they were the 2nd least expensive bid we had, but their reputation was important to us, so we went with them. It was definitely worth it. Our bathrooms are gorgeous and are now updated from the 1970s to a more sleek modern look.
The entire process from the first day or construction to finishing took 2 months for 3 bathrooms, which is actually a lot faster than I expected for full tear-

All in all, we are very pleased with
when the templates were being prepared in our home again it was noted we have a lot of material to be removed from the top of our cabinets. At that point we asked about protection for our cabinets and family room. they even took pictures of the space needed to be protected. Then demo day came and one man arrived. i thought that odd because with kitchen and bathrooms we had a lot of work to do. I relied on their reputation that they knew what they were doing. i asked the employee that arrived about protection for the areas in the kitchen and family room. he said nothing was provided or said to him? this is after 2 people in management noted the amount of demo needed. Well, the damage done to our cabinets was extensive! concrete, tile, wood chips throughout our family room. Next day 2 men showed up and were surprised that the one man didn't get the job done. I again asked about protecting what was left and they too said they were told nothing. there was so much more they had to do they had another man come to help and the owner came and helped as well. day three is here and the work continues. Now the beauty of their workmanship shines. Beautiful granite installed quite nicely.( on top on damaged cabinets). I noted my concerns about the problems with the demo. I was assured all would be taken care of. 10 days later a wood refnisher came to the house to review the damage. She wasn't to pleased of what she saw and said she'd contact Crowleys. 2 weeks later we come to the conclusion it be best to rehire the person who I used last to refinish the cabiniets. Well he's pretty busy so we have beautiful counter tops on scarred cabinets. Crowleys issued credits for my hiring someone to refinish our cabinets and to clean the carpet.
To recap, we were very happy until the problem with the demo, then it almost seemed they just couldn't get around to helping us get our kitchen back in shape. the finished slabs are beautiful. Just wish they had comunicated and followed up with the demo staff.
I have never dealt with someone who cares about his customers and his work as much as
