This has been the worst experience in working with any company. This company is incompetent. They were hired to install a screen enclosure over the pool. They showed up the first time with incorrect plans, incorrect materials and were unable to do the job. The second time they put up the screen enclosure lopsided because the measurements were wrong. Actually, they put up two walls and a roof, the third wall panels don't fit, because they measured one side higher than another. This company takes no accountability for its mistkes. We are now in the process of trying to get someone to speak to us about how this will be remedied.

On April10, 2014 I entered into a contract

with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
3269 SW Ave

Palm City,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
.

To bind the contract I gave them my credit card in the amount of $1350.00. This contract was for a swimming pool encloser, all screened in with two doors.

...More />
They started work on the pool encloser on 06/26/2014. Per the contract, I sent them another payment by credit card of $1350.00

The total price of the pool encloser was $5400.00. The next payment was to be paid when their employees started to put up the pool encloser, which was paid on 7/17/2014. By the way, their starting and ending hours was 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

They finally finished putting up the pool encloser on 7/21/2014 and I made the final payment that day. As I looked

around my pool deck I noticed the following:

Bolts in the pool

Metal shavings all over the deck

Metal plates not correctly installed

Holes where the beams meet the side of the house, leaving gaping holes.

One of the doors was put on backwards

A one inch tear, in one of the bottom screens

Beams not connected properly

I notified Rich who schedules the employees from
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
about the problem and he sent another crew who took pictures of all the problems and admitted it was a very bad job. He wanted the original crew to come back and fix the problem. After all the mistakes and sloppy work they did, I refused to have them back and he agreed to send another crew.

I have called Rich every week and all he gives me is the run a around about fixing my pool encloser. It has been 7 weeks since
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
finished the project all wrong and they will not commit to giving me a date when they will be out to fix their egregious errors.

At this point, I believe I spent $5400.00

using my VISA Card on a project that is in shabby condition and the Indian River County Building
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
will denied approval

of the construction of the Screen Pool Encloser.

I'm asking USSA bank and VISA to take whatever action that they
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
proper to settle this matter.

The crew was here on time. They were very neat and respectful of my house. The job was done quickly and efficiently just as planned when I received my estimate.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
is very fair in pricing, honest, and reliable. I will definitely use them again in the near future!

They are, quite simply, amazing. The detail and quality of their work is unparalleled. The don't hire temporary workers and use the same team for every job. The attention to detail and workmanship is on a level that is hard to find these days. We also had complete confidence in
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and his crew. We had no problem giving him the key and letting them all work unsupervised over the course of the various jobs. We will and have recommended them to others.
Only thing to be aware of, quality takes time, and the jobs are not completed quickly. Each job took longer than estimated, but we have an old house and issues cropped up. They are also a bit pricier than other cut rate contractors - but again, quality. We were willing to trade time and price for quality. Also, they can sometimes be hard to get a response from.

They did a great job. They created a high enough ceiling to the screen enclosure so that we don't feel closed in. We had previously purchased a larger than normal front screen door, which they had no objections to using. They came back and took care of couple of holes we found in the screen - came back quickly. It was completed within 3-4 days. Very satisfied with the work and professionalism.

This company installed a new patio and screen enclosure on the back of our house.
Short Version : quality of the installation and materials were very good, installers were kind and professional, and the price was competitive with other quotes. However, the communication was non-existent from FSB's end, I had to call and email several times to get responses to any questions, and we were delayed numerous times with poor explanations. When it came time to actually install the screen, our start date was delayed every time we spoke to the project manager and we were told false information by him several times. If it wasn't for the quality of the product and the price, this review would've been an F.
Long Version :
Estimate/sales process - went very smoothly, we were given lots of good reasons to choose them over another provider - price was competitive with what we were quoted from 4+ other companies in the area. Contract signed on 4/10/14 with 1/3 deposit put down.
After signing the contract, we were sent all the documents to give to our
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
in a prompt manner. We were also sent an 'approval drawing', which we signed off on and sent back the next day, and were asked if we wanted them to apply for the building permit while we were waiting for
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
approval. We told them to proceed, and submitted everything to our
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
approval was received the first week in May - we immediately notified FSB that they were cleared to begin their work.
Several emails and phone calls during May to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
, the project manager, went un-returned. Finally, we were notified mid-May that
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
had been let go and our new contact would be Rich. Rich called Tuesday 5/27 to tell us that we were definitely 'on the board', and asked if we were having them do our concrete and pavers. We told him yes (which was in the contract from the beginning), and he said he would follow up and would call us back Wednesday 5/28 with an official start date.
Wednesday 5/28 and Thursday 5/29 - placed calls to Rich, no answer and no return call. Also sent 2 emails to his gmail account, also heard nothing back. On Friday, 5/30 I emailed Rich again and copied the owner,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
. That same afternoon
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
got back to me, said our permit was received on 5/20 and that the concrete crew would come the next week to start.
Wednesday 6/4 - Concrete crew came and dug the trench/laid the rebar
Monday 6/9 - contacted
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to ask when the concrete would be poured - apparently FSB forgot to put our survey in with the permit package and the first inspection was denied by the city -
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
emailed me a new copy, I put it in the package the same afternoon, and he said the inspection would be rescheduled. On Thursday, 6/12 - the concrete was finally poured.
Thursday 6/19 - followed up with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to ask when the pavers would be installed. The paver installer came out the next day (6/20) to start installation and completed in two days. Pavers were installed well and the work done was very good. The only issue we had was that the paver installer did not carry the same pattern throughout - seemingly because he was running out of pavers of a certain size. To their credit,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and FSB offered to send the installer out to rectify it, but we didn't see it as a big deal so we declined.
Tuesday 6/24 - followed up with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to ask when the screen would be installed. He said the measure guy would be coming out and the office would be calling with an installation schedule. We finally received a call on Wednesday 7/2 (after 2 emails and multiple calls) to inform us our date would be 8/4. We expressed our displeasure, saying that Rich had already told us we were 'on the board' and now they were apparently just putting us on their list in the 'first available date'.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
responded and told us that he would get us on an earlier schedule and Rich would call with a new install date.
Thursday 7/10 - still no word from Rich. Followed up with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to ask him to have Rich call us - he didn't respond.
Friday 7/25 - still no word from Rich. Followed up with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and Rich called us afterwards to say that our date was 8/4. Informed him we were supposed to be on an earlier schedule. He said that the crew was actually on schedule unlike their other install crews, but they had one more big job to finish Monday-Friday (7/28-8/1) but they may finish up early - and if so they would be out to us Friday 8/1... but if not, definitely Monday 8/4.
Monday 8/4 - our long awaited install date. Rich called at 10 AM to inform us that the crew was hung up on the big job they were doing and wouldn't be able to make it out until Wednesday 8/6.
Wednesday 8/6 - no crews, no response to phone calls to Rich
Thursday 8/7 - got in contact with Rich, he said because of the rain they would be out first thing Friday morning (8/8)
Friday 8/8 - Rich called 7:45 AM, said the crew had
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
of 2 hours to finish on another job then would be to us right after lunch. Crews did not show up at all.
Monday 8/11 - Called Rich twice, he called back after the second time and said it was 'looking like Wednesday' because they were still on another job (8/13)
Wednesday 8/13 - Called Rich 9 AM - crews were loading up and heading our way. Left work to be home when they arrived. Crews called at 12:45 and said they were just leaving (3+ hours to load up?). Crews finally arrived after 1:30 PM. Installers were kind and professional, but left at exactly 5 PM. They arrived back at 8:30 AM on Thursday 8/14 to continue working. Crew left before 3 PM without finishing the job (no rain in sight). Friday 8/15 - had to call the crew to see if they were coming out because it was after lunch and there was no sign of them. They said they had to stop at another job for a couple hours and would be right over. Arrived after 12 and left before 3 because of rain. Job still not done.
Crews finally came Monday 8/18 and finished the job. All in all, 4+ months to get a small patio and screen installed. For comparison, our neighbors went with one of their competitors for the exact same job (even about 50 square feet larger than ours), including footer, pavers, and screen enclosure, and finished 1 1/2 months before ours.

If you're willing to deal with the frustration and incompetence of their scheduling, as well as being flat out lied to when it comes to when the crews are showing up, they have a good final product. However, we would never recommend them to a neighbor or friend because of all the issues we had. Hopefully they get a handle on their project management team and put some real scheduling in place - otherwise it'll result in many more upset customers like us.

The workers were VERY professional, polite and fast paced.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and his crew completed a very large screen enclosure (covering my patio/pool area) in less than a week! They worked steady and were always polite and professional. We were very pleased with the outcome of our new screen enclosure and would not hesitate to use them again! They also cleaned up after the job.

My wife and I sought bids from three contractors to build a deck and screened patio room off of our kitchen in the back of our
home.
One of the companies we called was NuSash of Indianapolis after picking up a flyer at the Indianapolis Flower and Patio Show. We called the office on April 24. They sent out
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
came to our home on April 24. He presented his business card with the NuSash logo and NuSash office number and address. We called
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
back directly on his cell phone on May 6 to write up a contract.
The contract called for us to pay $6,800 up front and
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
said he would call 811 (Call Before You Dig) and get the necessary permits to build the screen room and to bury an electrical line. Altogether,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
agreed to
* Construct a deck and screen room
* Bury an existing electrical line from our home to the garage,
* Construct a concrete sidewalk with brush-finish from the screen room to the garage,
* Add gutters and downspouts to our garage,
* Replace a piece of panel siding on the garage.
When it came time to make the downpayment,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
told us to write it to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
dba
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and Son instead of NuSash. He told us that NuSash’s owner,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
was in the hospital and that writing a check directly to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
would expedite the work and that he would work it out with NuSash and
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
later.
I was suspicious of this and my suspicion grew when my bank called in a few hours as
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
tried to cash the check at two different branches of my bank. He altered the check at one of the branches to try to get them to cash it. I had to write him a new check. However, I felt comfortable enough to proceed when
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
came back to our house to make markings in the yard and again the next day to introduce me to his subcontractor,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
. Also, since NuSash has been in business locally since 1975, I knew they had the correct contractor licenses. Since I was under the belief I was working with NuSash and just paying
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
out of convenience, I also felt comfortable.
I never noticed any markings from Call Before You Dig in my yard, but
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and his crew began work on May 12. Within a few days, the project began to take shape.
During construction, I asked
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
on multiple occasions to bring copies of the permits, but he did not do so.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
called on Friday morning, May 23, around 11 a.m., to say that the crew only had about 3 hours left of work and that he would be there around 3 p.m.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
arrived, but there was still much work to be done. The electrical line had not been properly secured for burial and was not ready to be buried.
I spoke with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
about several problems with the construction throughout the project.
* I expressed concern about the pitch of the roof and he told me it was exactly what we needed: 3/12 pitch. Upon measurement
later, the actual pitch is 0.5/12, basically a flat roof.
*I expressed concern about water leaking through the roof and he said it wouldn’t. Actually, the roof leaked in multiple places. I later
realized it was due to the pitch of the roof, the shingles used and the distance of the trusses (one was nearly four feet wide!). They also didn't use flashing. Instead, they used silver tape that is often used for windows.
* I asked if the ceiling fan was appropriate for a porch and he told me it was. However, the fan blades were immediately damaged to due to the roof leaking and water getting on the blades. The fan was an indoor fan and not damp-rated.
* He told me that the existing siding on the back of my home was not painted, but primed white and he would get white siding for the screen room siding to match. I factored this into my painting budget. However did not get white siding. He got grey and said it was higher quality. It turns out my existing siding IS painted white and the grey is the standard siding.
*I expressed concern about the concrete path and the fact there are no expansion joints. Also, it’s not a brushed finish sidewalk. It's a sub-standard concrete job with a very rough exposed aggregate "finish". It's not appropriately level, it dips onboth sides in different places and will crack at the first freeze of winter. He purchased the cheapest bags of mix you can find. As anyone who has worked with concrete knows, the sidewalk needs joints for the concrete to expand and contract. Concrete contractors that I have bid to fix the walk say the concrete used is not suitable for an entire walkway.
* I expressed concern about the lack of a trim around the windows. What was done was screwing in untreated plywood over some screens. It looks like a toddler built it. His crew did not leave room for actual siding.
* I expressed concern about some deck boards that were already chipping and cracking. There were small holes too - one was about the size of a quarter - in a couple of the brand new deck boards. Even though lumber is imperfect, I felt this was unacceptable.
* I also expressed concern about the steps up to the deck and porch and that they were too high.
* The patio doors did not close properly and there was no room to caulk around the doors.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
wanted a final payment from me, but the work was not complete.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
, the subcontractor, told me he would guarantee the work to be done that night if I would just pay the final amount to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
. He said his crew was nervous they wouldn’t get paid if
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
did not have time to get to the bank before Memorial Day weekend. He said the line would be buried on Saturday after taking the forms off of the concrete sidewalk.
I felt bad for the workers and I decided to write
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
a check. I accidentally wrote it for $6,400 when I only owed $6,000. On Saturday,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
’s crew did not properly bury the electrical line and left me in a dangerous situation.
On Tuesday, May 27, I put a “stop payment” on the check because: A) it was for the incorrect amount and B) the work was not properly completed.
I called
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
immediately and told him about the stop payment. I asked him to bring a copy of the contract, a copy of which was never provided to me until much later, and the permits.
When he arrived, he did not have the permits and he presented me only one page of the contract, the page with my signature that does not have any of the parameters of the contract such as licensing, who the agreement is between, etc. Also, he had blacked out a line on the contract. I’m pretty sure this said NuSash and I do not recall a thick, black marker line on the contract upon original signing. Also, below
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
’s name, he is listed as the “Marketing Representative”, not the owner. This was clearly a NuSash contract.
Earlier that day, I contacted NuSash and spoke with the owner
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
. He told me he had fired
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
several weeks ago.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
informed me that
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
told NuSash that my wife and I were not interested and that we were a “dead lead”. He stole this lead from NuSash.
When
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
came out on the 28th, I asked him if he worked for NuSash and he told me he did not. That was the first time he told me that. He said, “You were perfectly comfortable writing a check to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and Son.” His lie continued, “I made it clear that this was a
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
and Son deal.” He did not. Presenting me with his NuSash business card, signing a NuSash contract and telling me he would work it out with
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
, did not make anything clear.
At this same meeting,
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
told me that I was the one responsible for the permits and that I was the contractor. I offered to go to Permitting with him knowing that I could not get a permit without drawings and without a licensed contractor.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
left threatening to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
me for writing a “bad check” when in fact, I had only put a stop payment on a payment that was not due since the work is not permitted, not finished and the check was for the incorrect amount.
The next day, I again offered to meet
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
at the building permits office on Monday, June 1. He agreed and he tried to get me to sign off as the person responsible for the permits with drawings that are not accurate (particularly the roof). He left off the electrical work too in the drawings. I had also been told by Permitting that I needed to obtain a permit to bury the electrical line and
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
insisted that I did not.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
told me the drawings he had made would cost me $500 if I wanted
them.
We departed again.
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
also left me another message threatening to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
meand that he would be putting a
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
on my home.
I decided to call a licensed home inspector to look at the screen room and other work. The inspector found several code violations and bad construction practices. I offered for
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to meet with the inspector. He did but he disagreed with everything the contractor found except that the electrical line was not buried properly.
I agreed to pay
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
$3,800 as a final payment (instead of $6,000) thinking I could get the roof and electrical fixed with $2,200. I did this to get him away from my home and protect against the headache of him attempting to
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
me. I wrote an addendum to my contract that he signed indicating that this was the my final payment.
I have since had a licensed contractor and electrician look into the room. The electrician will take care of the line burial and electrical code violations (incorrect fan type, no GFCI on electrical outlet, no cover for outlet, outlet on same circuit as fan and lighiting). I had
another contractor look into fixing the room, but he believed it was beyond repair. I have used this contractor many times for other work. He and his crew tore down the screen room and build a code-approved, sturdy room that does not leak and looks beautiful.
Also, I called 811 and there is no record of them coming to my house nor a request for my address by anybody.
I want
Skiatook Sunrooms Provider Name Locked
to pay for the cost of electrical work ($700), demolition and construction of new patio room ($4,800) and concrete path demolition and new path construction ($1,600) for a total of $7,100.
