Staffins was prompt to respond with an assessment of the damage and estimated repairs to rotten log cabin exterior. He described the necessary repair process, assessed additional work that may be required and provided estimates for total care to ensure the exterior staining matched entire cabin. He inspected the rest of the cabin to investigate for similar concerns that may need addressing but did not identify any nor attempt to expand the scope of work. He provided a detailed estimate of the costs for the effort and indicated when he would be available to begin work.
When his offer was accepted,
returned to our home, met with us to review again his work and how and when he would begin the repairs. Accepting a 50% deposit, he began work when he said he would. As this is our vacation home and we are not resident,
called each night and emailed pictures of the progress of the work. When the damage to the log and adjacent window expanded,
advised us he effected the increased repairs at no additional cost.
During the work, it became evident that the deck staining and siding was not a perfect match to the existing stain on the deck and the cabin exterior.
advised us of the mismatch and continued to stain the entire decking, over 100% increase in surface area at no additional cost because, he explained, "it was the right thing to do and what he would want done if it was his house". This same philosophy was evident in all his work. When we next returned,
reviewed all the work he had performed and accepted the final payment as agreed.
was easy to work with, extremely professional and conversant, and performed exceptional quality work and I would recommend him again.

When we first asked for bids we contact several contractors on Angie's List. Admittedly we were unclear on what we wanted, and those guys didn't even bother with submitting bids (except the guy buying property in Belize). After that first round I sat down and began seriously drawing up plans.
Meanwhile a neighbor gave us
's card, and as a passing thought we asked to talk to him.
When we laid out what we had in mind, virtually the first thing he told us was that as a licensed General Contractor of less than a year, we were the biggest job yet for him, but he was anxious to take it on.
We gave him a copy of our drawings and asked for his best effort.
Ten days later he came back with a detailed offer; laying out not only costs, but a specific agenda of what would be done, in what order, and a breakdown of costs.
He expected to take 5 weeks - beginning to end - he went 6. Considering the quality of work, the extra week was well worth it.
and his partner
would arrive promptly at agreed times, and work throughout the day. They arranged for concrete, roofing, sheet rock and painting sub-contractors, and ensured everyone was on time. And cleaned up the job site every night.
When it came time to do the painting of interior and exterior walls - they did those themselves, but called in a sub-contractor to spray the inside trim. It was well worth it.
One of our initial criteria was that externally the addition should look as if it were always there, and was a natural part of the house. When the new paint fades a bit, they will have met that goal.
Both internally and externally I cannot find a flaw.
The work they did was meticulous. Their communication with us timely and forthright.
Even the way we handled the money aspects worked to every one's advantage: half of each job segment (concrete, framing, roofing, etc) was paid up front, when that was completed the balance was paid, then we moved on to the next portion. Sure I wrote more checks, but when the job was done everyone knew all the costs had been met, and he came in right on budget.
Would we hire
again? In a New
Minute.

We are currently living in a home built by
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. We moved in last August (2013), so we have been in the home for almost a year.

A couple of caveats: 1. This was our first experience building a home. 2. We talked to a number of different builders about building our home. The bottom line for choosing
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
&
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is we trust them, and they are easy to work with. That said, I have created a list below for why we went with them vice another builder.
* They have the reputation for being HONEST and fair. Both
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
have integrity and we trust them. They did not take advantage of us. * They have a reputation for being very easy to work with. We absolutely found this to be true. Both were extremely professional and a pleasure to do business with. * They build a beautiful home. We toured one of their homes he recently built and it WAS beautiful. However, after we toured their home, I contacted the home owners via phone and email…basically interviewing them about
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
&
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. * They ONLY had positive things to say about them…no negative, except for the fact that they are on the quiet side and sometimes you have to push them a little to get their opinion, ie "How do you feel about this idea?" This isn't always the case, but I made sure I ask them their opinion on changes I was recommending. We were not disappointed with their input, which was spot on. *
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
has been building custom homes in the Monument area for over 25 years. *
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
doesn't have a fancy office and he partners with his daughter
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
(she works with you on the materials and helps you choose tile, granite, etc., if you are fortunate to purchase one of their homes during the building process). This didn't bother us at all…in fact, it was a positive to us because this equates directly to a lower cost to build a home. * We heard from a number of people that
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is hard to beat when it comes to building a home for the dollar. We found this to be true based on the other estimates we received. * We liked the way they thought about building a home. We like an open floor plan style home and this is one of their specialties. * They also have a knack for laying out a home on a lot…this was important to us because we do have a view of the mountains. *
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
is a hands-on builder, meaning he spends a lot of time at the building site keeping an eye on the contractors, and he ensures the building site isn’t littered with lots of garbage. A very nice bonus. * They understand that there will be changes, even after the building starts, depending on when you enter the process. They are very willing to work with you to modify the plans to make sure you are happy (obviously, if it is not too late to make the change and it is within reason). * He is extremely efficient (words from others and us). He can build a home in roughly four months because he has a committed group of contractors that support him. Other estimates we received were 6-8 months from breaking ground to turnkey. * They don't care if you are on the building sight during construction…some builders do care. * We could work with them directly without using a realtor, which saved us money.
You would think by this review that I work for him, but that is not the case. When someone treats us well and provides us with a quality product, I want to support them by writing a positive endorsement. Both
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
deserve this review and you will not be disappointed if you are fortunate enough to buy a home from them. My advice – do your research, walk through lots of homes and if you have the opportunity to buy a
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
home consider yourself blessed!

K&R Home Service was one of three bids we took for rebuilding our deck and adding a pergula. The bid was $2000.00 less than the closest other bid and the workmanship was excellent. They tore down the existing deck carefully, preserving the existing joist hangers, hauled the trash away and rebuilt a beautiful, study deck and pergula to our specifications.
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, the owner of the company, was onsite daily and made helpful, economic and tasteful suggestions in the design of our structure.
The bid was very much better than any other we receivied and was on time not only with the bid, but also the construction of the structure.
He and his crew were friendly and well-mannered, as well as clean and on-time.
Since this initial work, he has also replace an outside door that needed some frame reconstruction and repaired our fence from storm damage. I plan to use him again for painting and cabinet work in September.

I would not recommend
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
for any type of work. I give
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
an F on professionalism and responsiveness. After contacting
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
to give me a bid on a kitchen remodel, he has never responded nor given me a quote nor contacted me in any way to tell me why he has not responded.
After first contacting
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
about a project that I needed a bid on, he set up time promptly to take a look at the project I wanted completed. He indicated it was something he could do and spent over an hour of my time going over details.
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
said he would get a quote within a couple weeks. 5 weeks have gone by and I have contacted
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
twice for a follow up. Still no response. As a professional contractor, an email or phone call indicating he didn't want the job or an explanation as to why he has not responded would have been appropriate.
Very poor service! Would not recommend.

finished our basement in the same style and finish as the original house. He worked closely with us to design the floor plan and made suggestions on how to create what we wanted at a reasonable cost. He supervised the construction and all subcontractor work, inspecting and assuring the quality and timeliness of the work. He pays attention to the details and has a high standard for quality. We are very pleased with the results and recommend him to others for construction and remodeling work.

Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, bar none, offers top-quality workmanship and delivered every single line item as discussed and agreed upon. From the design stage through the last drop of paint they were professional, courteous, punctual, and above all, performed high quality work.
For our unfinished basement, here's what we received for our money: - Design (which was excellent) - Framing - Electrical (to include phone and multiple coax drops) - Plumbing - HVAC - Drywall (hang/finish/paint and trim work) - Can lights with multiple zones/dimmers - Bathroom Shower w/ full tile (floor to ceiling) and recessed shelf.
Tile floor
Vanity
Toilet - Full laundry room with countertop, cupboards, and pocket door - Den w/ pocket door - Laminate flooring / carpeting - New exterior door - New interior doors - Two new casement windows - Railings for interior stairway - Oak treads for stairway, custom stained to match laminate flooring As for the cost, one would initially think the price was high for a basement. However, you get what you pay for and the quality of workmanship (and the items mentioned in the first paragraph) made that money very well-spent. There were no
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
fees, costs, etc. The owners were very transparent from beginning to end with everything. No surprises whatsoever.
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
's commitment to the job ranked very high with us. They only work on one job at a time so they were onsite everyday for the duration of the project. They allocated 4-6 weeks for completion and finished in 4 1/2 weeks.
They cleaned up all debris and consolidated all of their equipment to one corner of the basement each and everyday.
We were stunned when, at the end of the project, there were only two items for the punch list (both very minor in our minds):
- Threshold for exterior door needed adjustment. The owner even took the time to show me how to perform the adjustment should weather cause it to stray, which is not uncommon; and
- Caulking along the counter top in the laundry room.
We highly recommend

I had a mix of experiences with
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
's replacement of our roof. While there were some positive things that
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
did for us, I would not recommend
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
for the following reasons:
1) It took them almost 3 weeks to return our (multiple) phone calls. Once they did, they were responsive but that long of a wait time should have been a red flag for us, considering all that happened after...
2) While taking off the old roof, the roofers did not remove items from our deck, as they should have done. Several of my plants (grown from seed by me and meant to feed me through the summer) were smushed and my bird feeder was knocked off it's post. I'm surprised it didn't break as well.
3) Most import - When looking at the job after they were done, I notice that one of the shingles on the top ridge of the roof was sticking up a little bit. I asked
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
to come back and look at it. Sure enough, the shingle was not sealed down properly! I cannot help but wonder what would have happened if I had not been so meticulous in my observations after the work was down. REALLY! It is likely all that work and the thousands of dollars we spent would have been wasted. It makes me VERY worried about the quality of the work that was done. If they miss one shingle, were there other things that they missed that I couldn't see?
4) Right above the entrance to our house, several feet of shingles were not cut to match the roof line. They too were left unfinished (some part of it was hanging down) and would not have been fix without a phone call from me.
5) They left an extension cord at my house. Not a big deal, but just reinforces my feeling that the crew had little attention to detail. They just seemed like they wanted to get out of their as quickly as possible.
6) I found lots of nails and a few old shingles around my house after they were done. Again, lack of attention to detail….
Some good things:
1) Their price was lower than other quotes we got.
2) Once we decided to go with them,
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
sent out someone to fix the leak in our roof for free while we waited for the work to start.
3)
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
reimbursed me for the damage done to my plants. He was apologetic and amiable.
Overall, to me, the worry I have about the quality of work is not worth the $500 more I would have spent going with
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
Roofing. If I had to do it again, I would not have chosen
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
.

Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
has strung us along for 13 months on the promising of delivering our new home. This is the second time we've built with
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. You would think we would have learned our lesson the first time! The first time we built in Westerville and this time we are attempting to build in Grove City. Extensive delays from
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
the first time we built were blamed on extraordinarily bad weather conditions and huge construction demands in southern Ohio in 1999. We choose to believe the delays were a one time occurrence and decided to give them a second
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. We signed our contract in August 2013. We are moving across town and wanted to ensure our children's school switching would be as minimally impacted on them as possible. Because we choose a lot on a not yet developed street, our dig was delayed until October. October became November which became December which ended up being May 2014! We were strung along month to month told each month that the delay would only be a few weeks longer. We were not informed of the true delay until February 2014 at which time we were pretty much stuck. Unable to look in to other options which would allow us to meet our goal of getting in a new home before our children started school, we proceeded with
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. I personally had to call the City inspector to resolve a roundabout blame by
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
on where our permits were! By speaking with the inspector, I found
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
had been less than true about where in permit process we were! Our construction supervisor quit to go work for another builder mid-build process! Drywall was inspected last week and we've just been given a closing date of end of September! That's almost ten weeks from drywall? Does that sound like a builder who has it's customers' needs front and center?
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
has provided no empathy in the numerous contact I have had with them. Their executives don't care, the majority of the time they don't even respond. Their sales people blame circumstances beyond their control and we are the ones that suffer. Please, do your research before building with
Seminole Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. Make sure you have plenty of time for the runaround!
