"The vendor provided 2 services. During the fall of 2014 they performed extensive porch repairs. They reviewed each landing and noted all boards and trim which" needed to be replaced. They were on target with costs and completed the work when scheduled. At that time we discussed concerns regarding an overhang above the front entrance and some water damage and falling stucco. We scheduled this to be reevaluated in the Spring. As soon as i contacted the vendor they scheduled a meeting and reviewed the work to be completed. Prior to working with
we had met with at least five vendors .Recommendations were to rebuild the entire structure for an exorbitant cost. This is a vintage building and there was concern with matching the 2nd entrance and meeting all of the village requirements. When we met with
they opened up the structure and showed us how it could be repaired from underneath. They replaced the stucco underside of the structure and went to great extent to match the paint. They arrived when scheduled and completed the work quickly. Most work was completed the first day. They returned to touch up the stucco and compete the painting the following day. Very friendly workmen. Explained exactly what would be done and followed through in a very professional manner.

"
& Doors was very professional and timely in bidding the job and completing the work. They replaced all the windows in one of our rentals." They went above and beyond and did a quality job for us at the best price. They will always be our 'go to' for window and door repair and replacement for our personal home and for our rentals as it's nice to hand over a project and have the peace of mind that the job will be done right. Thank you for your help and quality work

Angie's Answers

?

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

?

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

http://www.mercuryexcelum.com/images/customer-files/Advantage.pdf

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

Every experience we had with this company has been outstanding. From the time we ordered the windows until finished, everything was on exact time frame promised, even though new windows we purchased in some cases were not the same as what was replaced and adjustments had to be made.
We had already met with three other window company representatives, and are very happy we made the call to talk with
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
before signing a contract for this large project. From the first meeting with our salesman,
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, we were comfortable with his knowledge of the products and what our project would entail, and we were never pressured to make choices we didn't want to make.
We could not be happier; with the look of the windows on our home, or with the professionalism, courtesy and efficiency of each and every
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
employee who worked on the project. They were very careful when working in flower beds not to crush plants, and any debris was removed as they did each window.
We cannot rate or recommend the
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
Company and their employees more highly. we've already been recommending them to anyone who we think might be in the

for new windows in the future.

Scheduled services to be completed on 8/24/2015 at 6pm. At 630, provider still had not shown up at our residence. When we called we were told he was in the area and just stuck in a little bit of traffic. We waited another hour before calling back as he still had not shown up. We were told at that time that he would be pulling up at any moment. After over two hours of waiting around for this guy we finally gave up. We called back and rescheduled him for the following evening at 6pm. Once again we had the same issue. It is now an hour past the appointment time and he has not shown up and we cannot get anyone to answer to phone or call us back and I am furious. I missed an event at my daughters school while waiting for this guy to come. Horrible customer service. Zero professionalism. And this company clearly has zero respect for peoples time. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone-not even my worst enemy. I would hope that this company is my representative of the types of companies Angie's List provides. If so, I'm clearly wasting my time and money.

It went well. We are very happy with the new windows. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was correct. Their windows have a life time warranty that includes the screen windows. We were happy with their work.

We solicited quotes for 4 companies in the area that were highly rated on Angie's List. Most of the estimates were during the day when my wife was home with the kids. A big part of the selection process was her perception of how she was treated during the visit. One company was rejected due to the rudeness and high pressure sales techniques of their representative. Maybe he was a bad egg. The other 3 were very nice and professional, according to my wife. One fell out because they seemed to be more in the repair business. That left 2. We decided to go with the more expensive of the 2, mainly due to the impression the sales associate left on my wife. Before we made the final decision we asked both for further discounts and
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
went down another $400, they still were the most expensive though.
Received a quote in mid-
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and was told that there would be about a 5 week lead time. Received a call a few days ago asking if Monday (yesterday) was convenient. It was. Crew showed up on time (window between 8 and 8:30) and went to work right away by first laying down protective drop cloths to shield our floors. The crew worked all day, though most left for lunch and stayed until the job was complete at around 6:30. They were professional and friendly. Late in the afternoon a representative from the company same by to check on things. Now to try and dissipate all the fumes.
The new windows look nice and my wife is very happy. I did notice that some of the screens on the slider windows seem a bit flimsy and tend to stick a little and some of the cleanup of mostly sawdust,
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, and little bits of debris (in the bathrooms and in my home office) could have been better so I'm
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
the quality a bit.
Price is hard to tell. They seem to do quality work and materials cost what materials cost. On the other hand I'm disabled and I'm kind of a captive audience and we did decide to go with the more expensive quote. Hard to compare an experience with a non occurring experience. Time will tell.
Now lets see how they do on after-service (should the need arise).

Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, the owner and manager, was very professional, honest, straightforward and prompt. His foreman,
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, was very competent, conscientious and thorough. The job was done very professionally in terms of the quality of workmanship, and the workers were very efficient and courteous.
g. My wife and I are very pleased with the results. Replacing 15 windows is a big job, but it was done with such a high degree of professionalism that it was hazzle and worry-free. The windows are very attractive and the workmen sealed them very well, so everything feels very solid. There were no
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
fees or surprise charges.
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was always up front with the costs and broke them down carefully.
We felt that we received good value for the money; considering the quality of the window itself, the quality of the workmanship with the installation, and the consideration we received throughout the transaction.

We were living overseas, but wanted our windows replaced in our Maryland home prior to our return to the house- a big time difference made communication a bit challenging, but
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was a consummate professional. He was willing to coordinate visits to the house for measuring and estimate and install purposes with family members and our tenant- and all with a smile. His work was clean, neat, and done within 2 days. He was also very honest- said that one of our sliders was in good enough shape to not need replacement. I can't recommend
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and his company enough.Just a pleasure to deal with. You won't be sorry if you select

Had the doors initially installed June. The installer could not install one of the sliding doors correctly because one of the panels was one half inch taller than the other panel. Temporarily secured the panels and called out the manufacturer. Manufacturer calls to say it will take three weeks to have someone come out and check assembly and another three weeks to make replacement part. I complained to management. They said they would be out in a week to investigate. Four days later they called back to say they knew what the problem was and did not need to come out. They scheduled a service call end of
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
. The technicians came out and had the wrong parts. Left. Rescheduled for Aug 24. Came out again with wrong parts. Now going into three months with broken sliding glass door.
First of all it is unbelievable that they could cut the
Pauls Valley Window Installers Provider Name Locked
for the panels incorrectly for the same assembly. Sloppy manufacturing. Also the parts do not all fit cleanly together. Less than mediocre craftsmanship.
Secondly, three months to fix something that is their fault!! Unbelievable.
If you are looking for impact windows look elsewhere. Mediocre product and terrible service.
Also doing business as Floridas Best Window.
