"
was superb at every step of the process. We attempted to get quotes from 4 providers.
was the lowest cost among the 3 that submitted" quotes (one never followed up). They communicated very well for several weeks before the move. 2 days before the move,
the operations manager, gave us his cell phone number to contact if any issues arose. The packing/loading team did their work in 2 days. Very good care of all furniture and goods. Only one item arrived broken (a crack in a cheap plaster urn), and there were no scratches added to any furniture. We were concerned about breakage because we had some very delicate items but they promised they would arrive in tact and they were right. The team worked efficiently and were very friendly and respectful. They asked questions when needed. They took very good care of the house as they moved very heavy furniture from the second floor to the ground floor. The head mover / driver -
- was fantastic. He gave us an idea of what to expect and when he would arrive each day in Houston and in Florida, and he was on time every time. The goods were delivered 3 days after they were loaded. The delivering team - still
but with 3 different, local helpers - also were prompt, careful, and very friendly. They got everything unloaded in one day and filled the 4200 square foot house. They also moved some furniture that we asked the sellers of the new house to leave behind for us. They wrapped items meticulously - as we discovered as we needed to unwrap each item. They treated our furniture and goods as though they were caring for their own possessions. We will definitely want to use
again for any future moves

"They sent out someone to inspect the apartment to be moved and that went very well. Professional and courteous and all that good stuff. They volunteered that they would give me an estimate" by noon the next day. Since the next day was Friday, when 2pm rolled around and I still didn't have an estimate, I called them and had the actual estimate by around 3:30pm. I got estimates from several other movers, too. They were all in the same ballpark in terms of amount of labor required to do the packing and moving. What was out of control with
's estimate was the packing materials and valuation charges. For one, every other moving company was willing and able to give me a Not To Exceed (NTE) price that included not only the labor for packing but also the pacing materials.
's Not To Exceed price specifically did NOT include packing materials, which they estimated to cost $725. Their estimate excluding packing materials was still higher than the other estimates I got that covered packing materials as well as labor, so they are on the expensive side, but I'm willing to pay extra for better service, so at this point I considered them to be still in the running. They contacted me to ask if I was going to hire them and I told them the above: their price without packing materials exceeds the other estimates I got including packing materials. Their response: "I decreased the supplies cost to earn your business." That's right, they lowered the NON-BINDING estimate of the cost of packing materials. In other words, they low-balled the estimate knowing that it would not make a bit of difference in the end. I consider that unethical at best, possibly criminal at worst. But I'm a forgiving person and since they didn't fool me, well, I can get past that. It just makes me less likely to trust them on anything not in writing. Worse for me, though, were the "valuation" charges they quoted. When you move, you have the option of purchasing what I would call insurance but for some technical reason is called "valuation". Whatever you call it, you pay extra money so that if your items are damaged by the movers you get reimbursed for the damage done based on the value of the item damaged. How much you get paid depends on what valuation you purchase. The most expensive kind of coverage is called "Full Value" coverage and it pays up to whatever it would cost to replace the item (as opposed to what your used item would be worth if you tried to sell it). You have to purchase coverage for the entire value of the goods being moved, so if all your stuff combined would cost $20,000 to replace, you have to buy $20,000 worth of coverage. Like many things regarding household moving, this valuation coverage is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. The maximum amount a moving company is allowed to charge for Full Value valuation is $1.50 per $100 of valuation (set in "Maximum Rate Tariff 4" Item 136). So for $20,000 that would be $1.50 * ($20,000 / $100) which is $300.
's quoted price is $5 or $100, or $1,000 for the same $20,000 of coverage, more than 3 times the legal limit. I emailed them a copy of the page of the tariff that set out the maximum rates and asked again for them to give me an NTE estimate that included packing materials and valuation coverage at a legal rate. Their response: "Thank you for pointing out our error in the valuation rates. The valuation rates that
sent was outdated and we have revised it accordingly." EXCEPT that they did not, in fact, send me new valuation rates and they did not send me a new estimate and they did not address my concern that packing materials were not included in the NTE amount. Also, I have no idea what they mean by "outdated": The tariff was adopted in 1998, the current valuation rates went into effect January 10, 2013 (21 months ago) and the valuation rates were lower in the past not higher. I don't know when it would have been legal to charge $5 per $100. I feel like they tried to overcharge me by substantial amounts in sneaky ways that had I not been vigilant I would not have caught until it was too late. Their first estimate would have been around $6,200 including packing materials and the valuation I wanted, and even then the packing materials charges could have gone up and there would have been nothing I could do about it. When I called them on their shenanigans they just apologized and then stopped communicating with me. I still don't have a legal, binding quote. For comparison, every other company I talked to gave me a binding Not To Exceed estimate that included packing materials for under $3,000. (Something is up all around with valuation charges and I don't know what it is, but that's mostly a different story.) Eventually I got an estimate from another company (rated A by Angie's List and with no complaints in 3 years at the BBB) for under $3000 including Full Valuation coverage and all packing materials. Now if
had wanted to charge me $4,000 they might have been able to convince me they were worth it by providing better "white glove" service, but refusing to write a Not To Exceed contract and gouging me on the valuation coverage makes me wonder what other slimy tricks they're up to.

"A realtor friend once said: "There is no such thing as a good move". I disagree. I have moved several times in my lifetime and using
was an EXCELLENT" move. It was so refreshing. Many things were going wrong with my new home and it was just wonderful to have the actual move go so smoothly--on time and under budget. I couldn't recommend them more and I have and I will. They were prompt, moved swiftly but carefully, have innovative methods and were all the while friendly and fun. That kind of service is rare today, sad but true. Use
for your local move. You'll be glad you did. Warning: Schedule ahead, they are very busy--no surprise!

is listed with the Alabama Public Service Commission and the Better Business Bureau. That cinched the deal when I was trying to decide which mover to use.
I worked with

DePlanche.
Midwest City Movers Provider Name Locked
explained that moving costs in Alabama are determined by distance and weight, and governed by the Alabama Trucking Association regulations. That means estimates can vary from one moving company to another, but the price you pay will be the same, no matter which moving company you use. Good to know that piece of information.
Midwest City Movers Provider Name Locked
quoted us $1582.40 on an estimated 6000 pounds of goods. When they weighed up the load we actually had only 4200 pounds and the cost was adjusted down to $1142.
We were satisfied with the three man moving crew. They were professional, courteous, and worked expeditiously. Everything arrived with no damage.
The only minor issue was that the crew arrived about an hour late. No big deal.
So this was a very good move for us.

movers did a great job. They arrived on time. They move all my furniture with great care. They knew the best way to move the heavy pieces of furniture from upstairs and load it on the trucks. They were very professional, courteous and great to work with. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We contacted MVM because they had positive reviews on Angie's list. They were very responsive and answered all of our questions. The two gentlemen who actually moved us,

Movers were good guys, hard working
The guys they sent over were amazing. They moved so fast and got my items in and out of the truck in no time. They were also very nice and did their best to give great customer service. I loved having them in the house, they were nice and professional.
Cheap price...not worth it
The price was right. I used an Angie's List coupon. I handled everything on the Angie's List email. I was happy for the documentation given the experience (see below). I suggest future patrons call the company and keep good documentation.
Customer service: needlessly terrible
The company lost my reservation. I called around 3pm and the woman who answers the phone simply told me I had no reservation and then washed her hands of the situation telling me that someone would call me later that evening. Completely indifferent, I felt like I was taking up her time. She was irritated when I pressed her ... everything at my home was in boxes and chaos and I wanted some help. Instead she had a very sharp

, talked over me then hung up on me.
Lost my reservation
My "window" for expecting the movers was 1-4pm. At 4pm I received a call from the guy who took my reservation (only after I sent an email over Angie's message system). He apologized, said another job ran over and that he would be late. I was perfectly fine with that, I just needed the move to happen that day no matter the time. At 5pm I had to call him again and ask where he was. "Right around the corner." At 5:30 a truck rolled up with my two (amazing) movers and not the man that I had been talking to.
Weird collections procedure
At 7:30pm the movers wrapped up the job and we were all standing in the dark empty storage facility parking lot. This was when the two men told me they were supposed to get some money from me for truck gas. I was fine with that (it is mentioned on the coupon) but I had nothing on me and was not expecting the request at that moment.
I told them to take the charge from the visa card they already had on file. They pressed me saying they couldn't, give us a check. I don't carry checks. They told me to go to an ATM and get them some cash. Now it is starting to feel weird and a little scary. They backed off and the office fixed it later but I did not like that method of collections and the company should revisit this and stop putting the guys (and customers) in this position.
Happy ending but can't recommend
So the move happened on the day we needed it to happen. The movers hustled and did a great job. I would have been fine with my "window" sliding as long as the info was correct and not a series of optimistic guesses. The customer service was needlessly terrible.
I could not recommend this company.

The movers showed up 10 minutes early, so right from the start, I was impressed. All 4 men were friendly, professional and extremely hard working. They worked hard every second, no long breaks, no wasting time, just honest, hard work. All our furniture was treated with care, padded, wrapped, and nothing was damaged.
Midwest City Movers Provider Name Locked
has an extra benefit -they provide wardrobe boxes at no additional cost, and move them to your new place. You then unpack the boxes and they take them away when they go. That alone saved us so much time and energy. The estimate
Midwest City Movers Provider Name Locked
provided was accurate, they actually finished a little earlier - so no worries about a surprise price increase at the end of the day. We are a military family and have moved a lot,
