"When I picked him up Monday, October 27th, I immediately noticed how skinny he looked. He was so skinny that his hip bones were projecting out along with his rib cage. Because he" was peeing and excited, I had to just grab him and go. When I returned home, he ate 2 cups of dog food and probably would have ate way more if I wasn't worried about him vomitting. When he was eating, I noticed a large bump on his legs. He wasn't chewing it or licking it, so it did not appear to be a hot spot. So, I called his vet at Bainsfield Pet Hospital immediately to get him looked at. Our dog's vet could not believe that the dog was boarded at a vets office. They found a brown patch on his mouth that I didn't see, probably because he was so busy looking for something to eat. The vet then squeezed the bump on his front leg and blood and puss came squirting out. They took him to shave his leg and his mouth, and took samples to verify that it was RING WORM! The mouth looked like a Ring Worm patch, but we won't know for 14 days because it takes that long to run the test. It cost me over $130 to get him checked out and his medication to fix the 2 areas on him. As for his weight, he did grow but the vet stated that they should have called me once he started looking
and recommended that they increase his food portions, especially since he is a growing puppy. The vet confirmed that he was way too skinny, and that I would need to increase his food until he gets back to normal. The other problem we discovered was his other front leg was not pointing in the same direction as the one that had the infection. I noticed that his paw was tilted in too much, and that was not how he walked prior to boarding him with
. Our vet was not wanting to do anything about his paw yet, until we get his other problems fixed and see if it goes back to the way it should. I'm a 41 yr old engineer and business owner, that also started off working at a Boarding Kennel and later a veterinarian's office during high school and college. Prior to working at a Boarding kennel and vets office, I raised english pointers in which I had to clean kennels daily and feed correctly. Had I allowed any of those dogs to get that thin, without notifying their owner prior to pickup, I would have been fired. In those 6 yrs working in the boarding industry, I've never had one animal leave the facility that skinny or with Worms. We had to scrub down the cages and walls with an animal friendly cleaning solution at least 2 to 3 times a day. I would also let the dogs out for playing around in the office area several times during their stay so I would be able to identify any problems and ensure they were getting the same attention that they would get at home. When I worked at the vets office, the doctor would go to each animal and get them out every morning to make sure they were doing ok. Obviously, this doctor is not checking their animals on a regular basis, or ensuring their personnel are caring for the animals properly.
should be firing whoever is responsible for the care of the animals being boarded, and install cameras to confirm that the person who is in charge of caring for those animals is coming in on the weekends and cleaning the cages properly. If you do not use a
brush on those cages on a daily basis, then you are not cleaning them. Obviously, the person in charge of the animals is not doing their job. I have pictures and a veterinary bill from the same day that we picked him up, which proves everything that I've stated. Our dog is also an office dog, and we take him to our office every day. When I came back from taking him to our vet, our employees could not believe their eyes. Some of them wanted us to file complaints with local authorirites, because if our dog came back looking like that while he was in our care, they would have called the local animal control shelter on us. That is how bad our puppy looked. My only hope is that they take this information and actually resolve this problem, and prevent this from happening again in the future. No dog owner should come back to pick up their dog in that type of condition, without even so much as a phone call to ask if they can treat his leg and mouth or even ask if they can feed him more food.

"Their location is good. I've been very happy. There's actually a new veterinarian at this clinic that we have the past few times. we've just been happy with her service." The office always checks back with us to make sure everything's okay the next day. She's very professional.

"They're pretty good. I have an annual wellness plan that covers most of my visits. They seemed concerned about the animals and the place is clean.

Hi

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
?
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

The staff is very caring. When we first arrived in the area, we had a dog in crisis, very sick. If not for Dr.
Durant Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and the caring staff at Spanish Trails, I have no doubt the dog would have died. We were referred to another facility for overnight hospitalization with specialty equipment, but Spanish Trails kept tabs on everything and did all of the follow up care. The dog bounced back quickly after that and now we take both of our dogs there for their care. We also use their boarding facility. Both are staffed by true animal lovers who take excellent care of our pets.

> When I had something to ask or add, I felt that everyone I would talk to was listening.
> I came in with my two kids (2 & 4). They were good, but still they were two kids with a lot of questions and movement. The staff was very good to them.

I used to be an animal rescuer, and I currently have 10 cats. If you have an afterhours emergency, they

’t send you to an emergency clinic. They’ll meet me at the clinic after hours. I’ve met them on Thanksgiving for sick animals. They go above and beyond and their pricing is fabulous. I'd change my family doctor before I change my vet.

My family is a pet family. we've had cats and dogs and anything else we could get. Dr. Konnerman first saw my son's first dog back in 1982 so that's how long we've been seeing him. He is excellent. He's got the best bedside manner. If I needed a doctor and I thought he could treat me, I'd let him. That's how caring he is. If you go in with your pet, he usually carries him in for you. He carries him into to the table to examine him and all. He makes you come in there with him so you can see what he is doing with the dog. He is the perfect doctor and he is so caring. I recently lost a dog and Dr. Konnerman had all the flare with all to provide all the services for me to have my dog cremated because he was so special to us.

They were very nice. My cat was very relaxed in there as all of the other owners were all cat owners. It is more homy looking, not like a hospital. They had all kinds of cat stuff in the room, so he didn't really feel like he was at the vet. I had a very good experience with them and they were very kind with my cat. I would recommend them.

Every member of the staff is very good. The vet I was seeing (Dr.
Durant Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Tellenkamp) didn't want to do the euthanize my dog so I had to have another vet do the job. Dr. Tellenkamp is the nicest man you would ever deal with from pets to people. He's very reasonably priced too. It's a walk-in clinic, and a small office.
