Our 5 y/o female Border Collie had shown aggression on several occasions (particularly toward two friends of ours, joggers, and cyclists). One evening in our home she bit one of our guests. Besides were worried sick about our friend, we also feared the city we reside in would label our dog a "dangerous breed". At best she would have been quarantined at our cost for weeks with no human contact. At worst the city could have destroyed her.
I started researching dog behaviorists without much luck. I checked on Angie’s List and there were several listed. However, one I spoke with didn’t address the aggressive behavior to my satisfaction. Another never returned my call. I saw
’s listing and based on his great reviews I contacted him.
spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me as I explained our situation. Immediately he was confident he could correct the behavior. I asked about his fee and when he told me my jaw hit the floor! Without missing a beat
said “I charge this because I’m that good. You’ll notice a change in your dog after one session”. When my husband and I put the fee into perspective it was far less expensive than being sued by someone she may bite and having our baby put down. Also, as
pointed out our dog was not happy.
At our first session
established with her who was really the Alpha. She lost her mind trying to tell him “I’M the Alpha here”. She was growling, biting the chain link training collar, trying to bite
(which she didn’t come close to being able to.). This dog was even doing Alligator “death rolls” trying to get away from him! After about 10 minutes she’d finally had enough and submitted. By the end of the session he had her sitting and heeling without a verbal command. The training is also for us. Behaviors we did thinking we were calming her were actually telling her “You’re a good doggie for acting this way”. We are only four sessions into the training and our ‘baby’ is already a different dog. When we’re out for a walk we no longer have cross the street whenever someone walks toward us. Nor do we need to brace ourselves whenever she sees a cyclist coming. On our third session
told me our dog was one of the toughest cases he’s ever had. Further confirmation of his expertise as a dog trainer.
is the real deal.

came to our home and also met us at a park near to us to train our dog (and us) in non-aggressive leash-walking.

taught us how to have clear communication with our dog, thus to alleviate her(and our) anxiety about what to do when other (scary, sometimes) dogs/situations may approach as we go for our daily walks. He told us and showed us the very specific moves and commands to use when training and walking our dog.
We feel very fortunate that
was the person selected to be our trainer , because he is the consummate maestro at his work.
, our dog is a happy pup now, and we are happy dog-folks.

was excellent, and it is a big help for her to come to your house.
She asks a lot of questions about the dogs temprement and behavior to get an understanding.first.
She showed us how to control our dog's barking, and to learn to "come" when called. She makes a lot of sense, and it is more training the owners to do things properly.
Money well spent.

came and in several meetings showed us how to establish dominance, leash walk, and trouble shoot any manor issues we had with the dogs. The dogs are almost 7 months old now and they are great. We get regular compliments on how our dogs are so relaxed and well behaved in public. We always let people know about

in Woburn is defintely a bargain compared to other daycare/boarding facilities and I'm pretty sure my dog is well taken care of when I've dropped her off for the day or night. She seems happy to have all the attention she gets there and they have reported that they all love her there. However, I do have a few concerns which will probably prevent from taking her back there again. In the two times I've recently boarded her there, the overwhelming odor of pet urine had completely inundated me when I went to drop her off. I've boarded at other PetSmarts before and this is the first location that has ever had any sort of odor, which tells me this particular location isn't clean. In addition, after one of my dog's stays she developed a skin infection and although in no way do I know that it is related to her stay at this location, she never had any problems prior and with the cleanliness issue it makes me wonder. Some draws back, due to the breed of dog I have (pitbull terrier)

's policy is not to let my dog into play group with other dogs while I know of many other daycare/boarding facilities that have no such policy. Also the dogs do not go outside to do their business but are taken to a "potty" room. Although I know both of these policies are to cover them for liability, there are better options to this. I'm kind of glad my dog isn't allowed to go into the play groups as I have observed these dogs seem completely bored. Despite packing 10-15 dogs into a tiny room, they barely play with each and simply are laying around the room. The attendant also only watches them and doesn't attempt to interact with the dogs at all. One last thing that is more of an inconvenience more than anything, on weekday mornings it is extremely busy dropping off first thing in the morning. I waited 25 minutes to check in one morning despite having a reservation due to them only having one associate working the hotel check in.

The first visit was great! The Trainer is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. Later we had a training (walking) session hoping that at least two of the dogs would get along. That was the last of the training sessions. I heard back from the trainer a few months later and she was to get back to me in setting up another training session. I have not heard from the trainer since. The cost was very high. Unfortunately, the problem still exists. I would say the Trainer spent approximately five (maybe six) hours total with us and the dogs. Very disappointed!

In just one week I have seen a dramatic turnaround in their behavior. I went to the trainer with specific problems and she was able to help me work on basic commands as well as the specific problem I was having. I am thrilled with the service and the program.

We're extremely happy that we chose

as a trainer. Before the session he questioned us in detail about our home situation, our dog, and her problem behaviors. His policy is to work in our house, which was exactly what we wanted. The session was scheduled for 90 minutes but he voluntarily stayed for an additional 30 minutes. He encouraged us to contact him with followup questions, which were necessary because he gives a lot of information very quickly, and he spent as much time on the phone as we needed. Our dog is a rescue and was very aggressive to any other men who entered the house or even passed by her on a walk. She also barked nonstop when someone came to the door.

calmed her down within a few minutes, and by the end of the session she was cuddling in his arms and licking his face! He told us how to deal with each of these issues and had us practice them, and we've continued to practice on our own. He provided a citronella spray, which is very effective to stop barking; now just the sight of the can stops her from barking. Two male family members have visited since

was here, and his methods work very well. When guests come in, the dog is able to calm down. Then, instead of barking and snapping at the guests, she wags her tail and wants to lick them, and is comfortable sitting next to them. This reduces stress for both the guests and the dog. The cost for the session was $250; the total amount we paid included the cost of the citronella spray, a more effective collar for walking the dog, and a homeopathic solution to reduce the dog's stress.

Two weeks of no baby (dog) in the house was hard but our dog came home calmer and well behaved. Three moves in five years was h****** him and some redirection was just what we all needed.
