"The rep called me to give me a heads up that he was running behind on time. I did not have a problem with, due to the hour was full of traffic. The rep finally showed" up and was very professional. The service rep respected the floor and carpet, by wearing shoe coverings. The rep was very knowledgeable of his job and did not mind explaining in details the issues found. He did not try to rip me off by making me purchase additional equipment, nor did he recommend anything unnecessary. The service was perfomed and complete within an hour and GTG.

Install was less than professional pipes are crooked and the installer dented the top of our washer. After that when we needed service we haven't been able to get them to come back even though they said they would be here at a specific agreed upon time they haven't showed either of the last two calls for the same issue. Terrible service after the sale.

Hiring an HVAC service

The awkward-to-pronounce acronym stands for "heating, ventilation and air conditioning" which in many respects are completely different processes.

what should you pay.  You pay what you can afford.  1100sqft unit requires a min. of a two ton unit.  prices range from 2100-2900 depending upon the seers of the system.  13 seer is the min. the law requires  and for your situation with 1100 sqft.  do not worry about the seers as long as it is to code.  the bigger the house the more seers for economy.  1100 sqft is at the border line for a two ton system.  It is more important to have your new system balance, there is where you get the economy on your electric bill and gas.  Bryant, lenox, ruud and carrier are the brands you should stay with. All have the same basic factory warrantee and will last you longer than you expect as long as you maintain it with regular check ups twice a year once in the spring and then in the fall.

The only thing of importance, is the hvac professional you choose to use. Alot of manufacturer's pieces are built relatively the same, and will last about the same amount of time. The thing that matters most is what you can not compare between companies, and that is the installation. Purchasing a system is not like purchasing a car, where no matter where you buy it, they are all the same. Each installation is different, and usually what you are paying for is the level of expertise, and quality of the installation, the company who will actual give you the warranty, and the comfort that you will receive. Manufacturers warranties disappear every day. They always have a loophole where they can get out of paying, but your local dealer wants to keep you happy for future work, and to protect his reputation in the communiy. Look up 4 year old Nordyne and Goodman warranty problems. Choose the HVAC professional first. It will cost you the least in the long run. I have had to totally redo plenty of installations that were just performed because of an uncomfortable customer, and a system that keeps breaking down. The equipment is only as good as it's installation, and over 70% are not installed correctly.
?
Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

?
I'd rate them equal,or close,as with several other brands. I'd be more concerned about the difference in installation and service down the road. Difficult to determine the difference ,but asking for detailed info about their installation, may convince you to choose one over the other.

The Dept. of Energy states that poor installations can cause a 30% efficiency loss! Plus with Gas their are saftey issues, venting properly etc.,and of couse the need for a "low Level" Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
?
I think maybe you are confusing SEER, which is an efficiency-related rating (higher SEER means more effective use of the electric power used to compress the gas), and TONS rating, which is a measure of the total cooling power of the system. (Tons used to mean how many tons per hour of ice was used in evaporative cooling building systems - a Refrigeration or Cooling Ton equals 12,000 Btu/Hour of energy exchange. A BTU, which is another antique measure but still used, is the energy needed to change the temperature of a pound of water one degree fahrenheit. Unfortunately, because of varying humidity and evaporation, this is not readily related to house air heating or cooling without a lot of assumptions and some computations. Relating this to today's world - the Manuals BayAreaAc referred to account for all these energy conversions and determine an estimated cooling (or heating) requirement for your specific house. The type of construction, solar exposure, general climatic conditions such as average temperatures, humidity, and hottest and coldest normal ambient temperatures and desired inside temperture are all taken into account in the more sophisticated versions of the analysis, so there is no "standard", though a rough old rule of thumb was about 1 ton of cooling per 500SF of house. Obviously, this was a WAG only because it did not account for insulation, type of roofing, whether you live in Alaska or Miami, etc. The ACCA manuals do a very simplified form of evaluation to arrive at a "design", which generally will be adequate. OF course, highly precise calculations are not really needed because A/C units generally come in even ton ratings - so if you are at say 2.6 ton requirement you will be getting a 3-ton unit anyway. SEER ratings are not a direct measure of efficiency, but the relative difference between ratings gives you good idea of the unit's relative efficency in using electricity - so a 16 SEER should be about 19% more efficient (so roughly comparable lower electricity bill) than a comparably sized 13 SEER unit. 13 SEER is the lowest efficiency currently allowed to be built for general use, 19 SEER is about the highest efficiency made by pretty much all manufacturers, and about 25 SEER is the highest rated though very pricey shelf-item units, though special construction custom units can reach about 30 SEER. Note however, like any government sponsored rating, much of it is hooey when you get down to it - for instance, SEER ratings are figured based on 80 degree inside air temp and 82 degrees outside, when that is far from the normal case of mid to low seventies inside and high eighties or above outdoors. This makes the absolute SEER rating meaningless, but relative numbers still have meaning in comparing units. Note these efficiency ratings are for conventional air conditoners and heat pumps working in ambient air conditions. Ground sourced Geothermal or lake/river exchange cooling units, though initially more expensive in most cases, can greatly exceed the air-exchange unit efficiencies because they are exchanging heat with cold natural water rather than with a high-temperature outside air, and instead of continually compressing a gas are just circulating cold water. I worked on one geothermal cooling project which had almost infinite efficiency, which of course makes no sense - but the only power was for sensors and a control valve as the water flow was single-pass under gravity flow, so no power was used to circulate the water.

Just purchased a dual voltage capacitor at Home Depot for $8.34 and it literally takes 5 minutes to remove and replace. Make sure to shut the power (pull the fuse), short ALL connection points on the capacitor and do it yourself. If anyone tries to charge you more than $150 total (for labor and parts) please chase them off your property.

The installation of the unit had the filter access panel backed up to the door opening and when the finish carpenters installed the HVAC, air handler room entry door there was not enough clearance to replace the filter without bending the filter into half causing the filter to not fit in the housing properly. Had contracted them to come out and replace the filter access panel, but they continue to send emails about rescheduling the install and not returning my calls to finish the job. This has gone on for the past three months.

I decided to have refrigerant added and have my unit serviced. My experience with
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been very good, I originally called and left a message. The owner
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
called me back and worked me in early the next morning at 8 AM which I appreciate especially since we have had record high temperatures and humidity. I appreciate that the problem was explained to me. The price for the service and work was very good and an additional 10% off was given for being an Angie member. This is a company you can trust.

I'm always hesitant of purchasing "deal coupons" because I always feel you 1. get what you pay for, and 2. it's just a provider's way of upselling you on a more costly service. And my experience with
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
Air & Heating was no exception.
We were able to make an appointment a week ahead of time but they would only accept a four hour window. The attempt on their part to make that a reasonable request was that the driver would call a half-hour ahead of time. I don't know about you, but we work and can't just run out of the office in a dash or take four-hours to wait at home if it's not an emergency. We took it though because we purchased the coupon.
The technician arrived about 3-hours into the 4-hour window but had trouble being able to ring our unit so we had to go down at get him (no big deal really but never had that issue before). He wasn't the friendly type but got to work...for 10 minutes. I guess all 20-points can be covered in 10 minutes but not sure how if the AC is never turned off...I don't know, I'm not a technician. Anyway, I helped him hose off the filters, which is fine and he did recommend that we get new ones. No problem. But at the end of it all we were told that we need a whole new AC unit. So, we left it with the technician that he would email us the size of filters to get and provide us an estimate with how much it would cost to replace our unit. We are still waiting on that information.
A recommendation to

Air. If you do a 20-point inspection, have a checklist that the technician checks off and then goes through with the customer point-by-point. Just like when you get your car serviced. It makes the customer feel like they got what they paid for...in a good way!
I marked a D for price and quality only because we're not sure what we got for it and, more importantly, we had to call an emergency AC company (a competitor) to fix a leak coming from a clogged pipe in our AC the very next weekend.

Called McGowans Thurs evening and left a message asking for Service to call Friday morning. My AC had quit working and I needed it fixed for the weekend. No call Fri morning, so tried two more times and was twice promised a Service Dept call back. When noon came and went with no response I gave up and called my new go-to AC company who responded promptly and fixed my problem. Eventually I did receive a call from Service but had to tell them sorry I had given up and called a competitor. They apologized and said they were short staffed that day. Too bad- I know stuff happens but I wasn't about to risk spending an August Florida weekend without AC. If you're too busy to help then please just say so.

Of course on the morning of one of the hottest days of the year our AC unit decides to spring a leak. I called 6 different Angie's List Top Rated providers and none of them could either make an emergency call that day or they didn't service our area. When I called
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, not only did I get a friendly person who was more than willing to set an appointment (with a 2-hour window) but she was able to give the name of the technician who would be coming to meet with us.
Cut to the appointment...our technician arrived early, was incredibly efficient, professional and friendly. He fixed our leak, added more needed freon, made some recommendations, educated us on a bunch of stuff, answered all our questions without hesitation and gave us a coupon discount just because. We never felt upsold, only like we've taken good care of. We will be using
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
Season AC from now on.
Also note that we used an Angie's List Deal for a 20-point AC checkup the week before with one of the highest rated providers. You can look for that review as a one-star.

Technician was very professional. Provided email introduction and heads up on time of arrived. Actually arrived a little early, which was much appreciated. Technician resolved issue, as well as serviced and cleaned the complete unit. He explained what was occurring and work completed. Pleased with service. Plan to use them for A/C and heating servicing in the future as well.

My AC failed on Thursday. My wife let me know when she got home from teaching school that the house was hot, and this was not acceptable. That evening I put in a service call to my (former) AC go-to company since they're who installed the unit and who I've always used. After not getting the promised call back Friday morning, I called again, and was again promised a call back. Ditto yet a third time. Anyway, you get the picture. Since it was Friday noon by now and I was facing an AC-less Florida August weekend, I called
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's on recommendation by my next door neighbor (and after checking them out on
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked

Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
said they'd be glad to help, and promised to call when her tech was headed my way. Sure enough I got the call a couple hours later. I met
Toledo HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
at the house as he was finishing up replacing the condenser fan motor. He had also checked the rest of the system. Problem solved. I appreciate
