"My mother was admitted via ER to Oak Hill Hospital for respiratory distress. However, her PCP of many years did not have privileges at this hospital and, unfortunately," Dr. A.
was assigned. Due to misinformation from the
an out of state relative was initially notified of my mother's emergent transfer, and she communicated with him that early morning. I called her later that day and clarified I was her HCS and local daughter and would be the primary contact. However, after that initial contact, Dr. A.
remained almost inaccesible throughout what became a nightmare admission; neither I nor my family ever met her in person, and the only contacts were via telephone and at my initiation. Despite my mother's criticial state and our reluctance to leave her bedside, we were told by the nurses that she said we should go to her community office to speak with her. In addition, per the reports given to me by the nurses, she also was difficult to contact during critical times when orders were needed from her. After marked improvement after one day in the ICU, my mother was transferred to a telemetry floor with plans for discharge, however, in the night an order for a sedative was obtained and given, and my mother was later found out of bed and confused; again no notification was given to me. Despite rounding on my mother and awareness of her confusion, no orders were given by Dr. A.
to ensure her safety, such as bed siderails, a sitter, or bed alarms. Several hours later, my mother again climbed out of bed, fell and broke her hip, due to what AHCA has already deemed inadequate care. Again, no notification was made to me, nor were acute pain medicaitons ordered by Dr. A.
. The nurse later claimed she had repeatedly called for pain medication and did not receive a return call for many hours. I will add, the AHCA citations notes Dr.
's denial of this. However, Dr.
was aware of my mother's fall and fractured hip and gave no orders despite predictable and documented pain. Over the course of the next week Dr.
remained inaccessible and we were unable to access her for input on my mother's complicated care, nor did it appear she was even involved in any discussion with consulting physicians. Instead we were left to try and coordinate the many consulting doctors ourselves, and still never met Dr.
, despite surgery and another ICU transfer. Tragically, when my mother deteriorated and faced possible ventilation, I called to Dr.
's office to discuss advanced directives, something we had tried much earlier without sucess to initiate at the hospital level, and for a hospice consult, however, I was met with rude and unhelpful staff at her office who declined to allow me to speak with her. They told me she would call me back. I impressed upon them the urgency of the matter. I never received a return call and ultimately had to call to the pulmonologist to obtain the orders for advanced directives and a hospice consult. My mother was transferred later that day to hospice and died several days later. The medical examiner determined the primary cause of death to be complication of a hip fracture due to the inpatient fall. Upon leaving the hospital, my family still had never met Dr. A.
and the last time we had spoken via phone was at my initiation 8 days prior. I wouldn't let my worst enemy be placed under the "care" of this woman. I say this as a nurses of almost 40 years and as a grieiving daughter. No one deserves such abysmal disregard for human dignity.

"I'm very pleased with her. She's very thorough, really took the time, like before she saw me for the first time because I was moving back to Cedar Rapids," she wanted to see my old health records beforehand and had thoroughly reviewed those before my first appointment. I had shingles on my face just after I retired in December. I had an appointment with her two weeks later and was going to ask her for the shingles vaccine. I got shingles first. She was very good about getting me in immediately, carefully looking at it and listening to my symptoms even though the pustules on my chin didn't look like shingles and a couple others did. She diagnosed it accurately and got me treated immediately.

She's a pretty awesome doctor. I've gone there since we moved to the area and I've seen her twice so far and I went to her from the recommendation from somebody in the area. It went really well. The office environment is great and everybody is super friendly. She's really friendly and willing to talk to you about any problems that you have. She doesn't rush you. She actually listens so it's a really good experience. I would give her an A.

We discussed the lab results, talked about what I need to do to get a couple things under control and completed a couple of additional things for the new patient exam that hadn't been done by our previous doctor for quite a while. I really like Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's bedside manner, her knowledge and thoroughness. She's easy to talk with and I didn't feel rushed. She really cares about her patients. The staff are great too.

Dr

had been working in Walnut Creek as an internist with a focus on sports medicine but recently moved to Danville and opened Danville Sports Medicine and Primary Care. The thing that caught my wife's attention was Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
saying she's interested in creating a medical home for her patients. Based on what I've seen so far, I think she's achieved that with her approach to medicine, her staff and her new office environment.

My Primary Care Physician, Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
has managed my health care for the past four years with Clinical Excellence, and has been a major factor in treatment and avoidance of costly hospital admissions. Prior to having him as my PCP, with my numerous and complex health conditions, I was hospitalized numerous times in 2010-2011. I have had no hospitalizations since he agreed to take me on as a very complex patient. *** Before I give specifics on Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's medical excellence, I shall briefly provide you with this patient's perspective and experience. I am a totally disabled 55 year old RN with multiple complex medical conditions requiring care from several specialists and care coordination as each of these conditions effects the others. My major health decline began in 2003 with the rupture of my C 3-5 cervical discs . After many years of heavy lifting as a nurse, I have severe degeneration of entire spine. I then acquired a domino effect causing other serious and problematic conditions. I had searched for an in network PCP able to handle my complex problems and to work with my specialists . I had four Primary
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's from 2003-2010 who accepted me as a patient, and all were unable to manage my complex case due to time constraints and their patient loads. I basically had no PCP 2010- 2011. I was hospitalized several times , twice in Critical Care at St.

's . Several of my nursing associates who had worked with Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
stated he was " The best of the best". I had the fortunate opportunity to see this in 2011 when my husband had to go to urgent care at Tallow Wood/
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
Health, and Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
was on duty.

I was highly impressed with his assessment and clinical skills, as well as his demeanor. As we were leaving I asked him if he would consider taking me on as a " highly complex patient". He agreed, and has been the Very Best PCP / Internist that I have ever had. I have worked with uncountable

's in my nursing career, and can state that Phyicians of Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's caliber are rare.

In conclusion, I can state both clinically as an RN, and from the patient perspective that Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
is an invaluable asset to his medical group and organization. Physician Excellence should be recognized and appreciated as such. Medical students, residents and many practicing

First of all, I can only speak to my family's experience with this doctor. My father, mother, and myself were all patients of his. My parents first, then I became a patient after my mother passed away. My father and I transferred from the old office where Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
was with Dr. Pettygrove's office in South Tampa (Primecare) to the new office after Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
apparently had a falling out with Dr. Pettygrove. My father was actually the 1st patient seen at the office in
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
. We wanted my husband and mother in law to become patients of Dr.Singer, but now we are glad that this did not occur. I have to thank my husband for helping me maintain clarity through this confusing, unsettling, and strange mess... When we eventually left Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's office entirely it was very difficult for us because --at one time---we really did like this Dr and his staff. At one time, they seemed to be kind, caring, and dependable---as a caregiver 24/7, this meant a lot at the time since I had very few people to depend upon. These guys really seemed to be top notch. After my mother passed away suddenly in 2009- we thought that this was going to be our doctor's office for the rest of Dad's life. It was a huge decision when we decided to leave because Dad was sick (unfortunately we did not know to what extent at that point) and then we had to explain what we knew of Dad's medical history to a new Dr. We knew exactly how to remove Dad w/ a little reverse psychology (since he had been a patient of this doctor for years and was supposedly liked) during my last call w/the office Mgr. We needed to do this since the doctor was so upset with me about leaving, that we did not want any tantrums over my father leaving. I found a new Dr for myself and in no time she helped me right away and I had improvement within weeks.. Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
struggled with the same issue (even referred me to Dr.
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
-his online reviews from various sites say it all). Our leaving Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's office turned out to be one of the best things that happened for Dad in a long time. It took months, and we had to go through major hurdles regarding finding a new primary Dr due to his insurance and again with Dad‘s hospitalizations--- and then a surgery (colon re-section) after which we finally got an accurate diagnosis. After Dad‘s return home, we got a pretty good female doctor for Dad. Right away she gave us copies of all of Dad's hospital records and called a few things to our attention. Dad was upset that he had received such limited information prior to this and so was I. No more of the past when Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
was just putting a Band-Aid on the issue and pushing for Dad's discharge out of the hospital door to go home before he was ready---only to go right back to the hospital again. He should have gone to rehab so they could help him gain his strength before returning home. There were others that made mistakes sure, but Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
had initially went out of his way to gain our trust and support--and then finally lost it mainly because of his temperamental, childish, and abhorrent behavior making him difficult to work with regarding my father---this is what triggered us to initiate moving on from that office. First I made the move, then gradually we moved dad. The behavior issue made us question a lot of things. Dad, being the wise man that he is, saw right through the faç
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
and was quite the adviser on how to handle it. To my husband’s credit, so was he. When I addressed the issue with Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
,in order to initiate an explanation, he did not want to take responsibility for his actions and kept wanting to deflect elsewhere. This spoke volumes. After hearing previous conflicting statements from this doctor, it was our belief that everything with this doctor was someone else’s fault. Later on, I made the mistake of trying to give the benefit of the doubt and be forgiving, but this just made things worse. I wish I had followed my initial gut instinct and had just left and removed Dad right then and there. I informed his office manager and she acted like she did not know; however, it was clear to us that it was highly unlikely for both his nurse and his office manager to be that unaware. So, it was for the best that we moved on. Under a new doctor, Dad’s medication list was cut in half. Half! So great! His spirits were high --it was a Blessing. Although Dad found out he was terminal (Advanced Stage Colon Cancer) ---after his surgery where a large mass was removed but had already spread elsewhere, he was pain free for several months and able to enjoy some quality of life as much as possible before the pain returned and things started to slow down for him due to further and final spread of the cancer. Most importantly, because we were finally given the information---we knew what to expect so we could prepare for it and inform other family members. Hospice started to visit him ---something he needed well prior to this. Patients should be informed of everything regarding their healthcare. We believe that Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
was in over his head --especially with my father’s care. Both my husband and myself have doctors in our family, so we understand the stresses that can occur. Doctors are human and they make mistakes like anyone else. Sometimes they let personal issues and/or stresses cloud their judgement. We also believe that this Dr was ill-advised which resulted in him making ridiculous assumptions and following through with bone-headed actions. Things are not always as they seem. Perspective depends upon the character and intentions of the person and/or persons behind that perspective. Unfortunately, their mistakes effect lives. It seems like the more information we received the further we got down the path w/Dad's care the more disappointed and disgusted we were with Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
. We just felt like we wasted time under his care. My regret is I wish I had seen more clearly what was going on around me, but after the loss of my mother I was running on auto pilot for quite some time. I was just happy that someone was treating Dad and as long as Dad seemed to be happy- I was. I wasn't seeing what maybe I would have if I had not been so busy trying to wear multiple hats w/multiple responsibilities. If I had, we would have moved on long ago. Thankfully, my husband stepped in and clued me in as to his thoughts after hearing feedback from both my father and I after our appointments. Also, some friends offered their feedback. But, I think my father with his experience hit the nail on the head for us on what made the most sense referring to certain personality types and why they do the things they do. For Dad, if we had been previously provided with information regarding his illness and been able to make informed decisions--Dad could have had a better quality of life. It is our opinion that quality time was lost for Dad under Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
’s care. Did Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
do some good= yes, absolutely =vitamins for me and temporary quick fixes for Dad= but it has been overshadowed as he seemed h*** bent on creating some turmoil with me where there was none almost like a game. I remember Dad asking me what was that all about? And me repeating on several occasions--Got me, Dad… I just didn’t have time to worry about what the drama was about. This added undo stress to the entire situation making us not want to go anymore, when at one time, we used to actually look forward to seeing this doctor and his staff. I would offer the same advice to anyone seeking treatment with any doctor---ask questions, ask them often---question everything- even if you think you trust your doctor implicitly. A good doctor will be more than willing to show you your medical records, copies of all notes, diagnoses, etc. If there is any doubt=challenge and ask -why?- for it is possible the doctor may or may not be guiding you in a direction you may not want to go. You -as the patient-are in charge of your own healthcare->>Remember that. There is an old saying: “Trust, but verify”. Also: “If things seem too good to be true, they usually are…“ I Thank God Dad had hospice, but cancer can be a cruel disease. As many other families, we are not new to it as we’ve lost family members and friends, but luckily they did not suffer the way Dad did. Unfortunately, Dad had an up and down battle for quite some time during which my father showed his extraordinary strength and after having to watch him suffer --- I will share my Dad's statement when I expressed how angry I was about that whole mess regarding Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
's behavior and Dad's care: He said "Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
knows he did something wrong and now he has to live with it." Well, I do believe that the truth does come back to haunt people and I predict this will happen here. Hopefully, when this happens, clarity will be gained, they will learn from past mistakes and hopefully not repeat them-- and this doctor and anyone else that was involved in Dad’s care will look at the picture they took of my father w/Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
and the other pictures and video that the doctor requested of my father exercising--- as reminders to become better people. All we can do is pray for this, as it is ultimately up to them. Our family is working on forgiveness regarding this Dr and his staff. For Dad and Mom. My father passed away January 2015.

Dr
Steubenville Internists Provider Name Locked
took my request for an appointment right away. They were willing to accommodate me on the same day I call, though it wasn't urgent. She was thorough and patient, asking many questions and answering all of mine. She seemed knowledgeable and experienced.
The staff was friendly enough for a busy office. The office itself could use some paint and new carpet, but that seems to be the case in most PCP offices these days.
