Basement Waterproofing Reviews in Powell

Perfection. We are on our third home and after 35 years, this is the very first time anyone has been this good working on our home.
Our house sits at the bottom of a hill with a creak running within 25 feet. Needless to say, we get a lot of water through our two sump pumps. While the basement has generally been dry, we were starting to see a slight amount of water at the base of the back wall in the basement. The basement is not fiished but we had wall to wall burber installed when the kids were young and living at home so they could use the basement as a rec room. A few years back we had someone look at this and a slight crack in the concrete walls was diagnosed as the problem. A wall patch made of plastic was commissioned but the problem was back with the heavy rain last Fall and it was getting worse. We had a 6 by 30 foot section of carpet soaked to the top 2 days before Christmas. Spring coming on and I finally I went shopping for someone to fix this. It's a terrible feeling to have no idea when you will have a wet floor and as good as our boys were about it, I felt horrible calling them to come quick and move furniture and sop up wet carpet. After reading Angies list extensively, I decided to call
. While the floors were dry at the time, it was just a matter of time.
came over the next day. Evidence of the water was apparent on the carpet tack boards. He spent a lot of time with me. He looked at the grade, looked at the spots where the water was coming up and he listened to all the symptoms I had built up over the many years of intermittant trouble. Everything he said made sense to me. I was immediately comfortable and we wrote up the order to dig out the inside tile on the back wall. I had no idea of the going rates other than the checking on Angies list. Since we were only doing the back wall, I think the cost is not as high as some of the other estimates I read on the list. The best part was that RBW uses a steady single crew that do all of their jobs. When you are really worried about your house, it is really a weight off your shoulders to know it's going to be handled.
At 8AM exactly the time scheduled, three bright red trucks showed up at my driveway.
appeared and introduced the entire crew. There were at least nine of them and every one was extreamly polite. They laid down plastic from the front door all the way to the work space. They erected a plastic wall to keep the dust away from the furniture and my wife's beloved fabrics (she is a
and there is nothing more important in our house than the fabric
... which was right next to where the hole would be dug). I had asked
if we could take the cement and dirt he dug out and fill a spot in the creak that had
eroding. He assigned one of his team to do whatever I asked in placing that there. I could not believe it. These guys stripped the carpet tack from the concrete, separated trash
dirt and rocks, set the concrete aside, filled my hole with dirt then laid the concrete pieces on top of the dirt so the dirt would not be washed away. What service!!
More importantly, they showed me what was going on under the floor.
, the job supervisor pointed out all the details of what was going wrong. The tile pipe had originally been laid with very little rock and the rock that was there was limestone which had deteriorated and contributed to blocking the water flow from getting to the pipe. They made another run to get more river rock (the small round rocks that don't ever break down and pass muddy water much easier). I could see the iron stain along the back wall for 20 feet where the water was rising up so I saw that he was acurate in his initial diagnosis from when we first spoke. As an added measure, they laid the river rock a bit higher. While this made the concrete floor an inch thinner on the 1 foot wide back wall section, it gave the water a huge path out if there was ever any issue in the future and the cement was still plenty thick.
also trenched and replaced another 8 feet of tile down the connecting wall and flused out that line to the second pump for no additional fee just to be sure. They pulled down the ugly plastic wall patch I had done a few years before and put in a much better stucco faced patch that matched my poured concrete walls (also no charge). When they were done, they mopped my basement floor with Pine-
, removed the plastic wall, all the plastic path ways, swept the kitchen and then went back with a rag looking for spots in the kitchen. All of the materials in and out were passed through the basment window by hand and I have no
because the window was protected. These guys were done by noon.
If not for the wet concrete, I would not have known they were there. They picked up every piece of trach and debris from the lawn. Best of all I know I will never have a wet basement. It is one thing to be told that but it's another to be shown every step, how it works, why it works so that you yourself understand why the basment will never be wet again.
even worked with me to ensure the sump levels were set at optimum to ensure the rock and pipe were not sitting in muddy water.
After they left, I started to remove the plastic I had covered everything in the basement with including the precious fabric the night before. I was amazed. There was no dust on any of it. They do not use a cement saw. They used a
hammer with a wet cloth around the chisel and a hose to keep the dust down. It really worked.
called me after the job to check in and to make sure there was nothing left undone. There wasn't and I was really happy. The next day, I received a thank you card that was signed by the whole crew. The office staff is also excelent btw.
So if you have water leaking into your basement and you are reading this, I have to say that I would not even call anyone else.
can fix anything, give you peace of mind and make you feel good about it. Their price is not the lowest but their price for what they do is the lowest. It will be fixed for good and it's the best value I have gotten in a very long time. I can now finish out my basement. Oh and I just figured out that the musty smell that has always been in the basment is now gone!
Finally, no I am not related to any of these guys and I had not met anyone from RBW before
showed up at my door. These guys are just that good. Thank you

This is a project we have put off for several years. We first noticed what we thought was settling in our den via cracks in the walls and along the ceiling. Horizontal and stair-stepping cracks were also noticeable in
and would come and go each year as the weather would warm and cool. Three years before we had this job done, we had a structural engineer assess the situation - he said we could put the work off and monitor it, and if it got worse we would have to do something about it. So the time finally came. I had called Basement Guys (BG) three years ago as well and had an old estimate on hand for reference. The engineer/sales person from BG (
) this time spent a lot of time with us explaining what he found and actually told us that the previous assessment from BG which involved a piercing solution didn't need to be done. This ended up saving us several thousands of dollars.
seemed very knowledgeable and was helpful through the process. The scheduling of the work was
and coordinated. We had to have part of a finished wall removed as a part of the job and due to timing, we weren't going to be able to have it done before the start date of this job. BG was willing to work with us to have their team actually handle the demolition, and I felt the cost to us was very reasonable. The team of people doing the work was pretty small - just 2 men - and the lead on the project (
) did an exceptional job with preparing the work space, making sure everything was covered while they worked, ensuring a CLEAN job, and spending time explaining what they were doing. Candidly I was amazed how efficient and clean this job ended up being. We had 28 carbon fiber strips installed and the work included some intense grinding of old DryLok off of the walls before they could install the strips. The whole job took less than a week. While we do have to monitor the walls and den for any further cracking (which is guaranteed against), at this point I am very satisfied with the overall project. I have recommended BG to family members who have since used them as well.
The only reason I didn't give BG an "A" on responsiveness was because there was a minor issue with a heating duct that took a couple weeks after the job to get fixed. I had a hard time getting a hold of someone at BG to call me back or get a worker back in the house to fix the duct. However, I am happy with the fix they completed.
If you are considering a basement job like the one I've described here, I would highly recommend you call BG. I would also recommend anyone investigating this type of work to do your research and homework - call references and suppliers! BG came out on top for us from the start.

I love this company. I moved to Ohio one year ago. I was here 3 weeks when the water heater broke. I was so paranoid about mold. I wrote a review about that great experience with Prism. I haven't had any issues or mold problems from that incident. It was such a relief today when

said he would come right over! Basements, storage units, pipes, foundations, sump pumps, etc. are NOT my forte. I am so grateful that he helped me figure out where I need to go from here. He didn't even charge me!

They also lie about their location. 102 Liberty St, Columbus, OH 43215 is not a valid address...he bluntly told me that he uses that address to make people think they have a real office. I think this is actually a warehouse they used to rent.

waled around our basement, crawl spaces, and outside. He educated us about how our house was built and gave us some advise on how to manage the seeping in the basement. He also walked around the outside of our house and pointed out to us where the grading in the lawn was helping the water make its way to our basement. He recommended a dehumidifier and regrading the lawn and said that we didn't need anything else. We appreciate his honesty and plan to call him again if we have any other basement issues.

showed up right on time. He worked quickly and finished everything up on his own in just a couple hours. In the week since he finished the work, the humidity level in my basement has dropped almost 10%! The price does seem a little high for such a short amount of work and the way the vapor

The job took 4 days and required 10 man-days total effort. The workers were very careful to not track any dirt/debris thru house as they went in & out of basement. The basement floor and contents were carefully protected during painting. Job well done.

It went very well. They are very professional. They clean up well and also try to be as clean as they can be while working. We felt like they did a very good job!

Used their web site to request an estimate for said work, they called back within 2 hours. After a day or so, I received a large envelope with all their services described in catalog form. After reading it cover to cover, I more or less knew what I wanted & needed. J&D Representative came out a few days later, was friendly and helpful, didn't try to up sell me on anything, beyond what I wanted. We scheduled the work for early May 2008. Two weeks prior to the scheduled work date, the person who actually would be performing the work came out to scope out the site and we discussed where they J&D would run the new sump drain. He, too, was very professional and friendly. J&D showed up exactly on time, took great care to keep the job site clean. They finished a day early. The results look great, everything neatly done and as agreed to in the contract. J&D does not use sub-contractors, all workers are employees. All in all, it went very well as I was worried about spending such a large amount of money. These guys don't come cheap, though. But I am a believer in "you get what you pay for".
