"I do not recommend
Long Distance (SLD), a division of
(SPS), at all for a long distance (state to state) move. Although every SLD &" SPS employee that I have spoken to in person, via phone or via e-mail, has provided effective customer service (e.g., timely responses to phone messages and e-mails; listened to my feedback; courteous and professional, etc.), it does not make up for the fact that my shipping units were delivered three days later than agreed (in part, I’m sure, because the units did not leave MD until three business days after the units were picked up from my MD home. In addition to the units being late, there was damage to the boxes and, therefore, to my belongings, when they arrived to my new home in TX. Most frustrating was not receiving any (or only partial) explanations for why the units were delivered late and damaged. Also, a word of caution: although the SPS website says, "Take all the time you want [to pack] (up to a month for one monthly fee)," this is not accurate for a long distance move. For a long distance move, you have to complete the initial delivery, pickup, shipping (approximately 4 business days), redelivery, and "repickup" process in one month to prevent an additional monthly fee. You also need to factor in that SLD will not re/deliver or re/pickup on weekends. Additionally, be ready to take a day off of work because you won't find out until 9am on the day of your re/delivery and/or re/pickup the “two hour window between 9am and 5pm” that your units will be re/delivered or re/picked.

Hello, this is Kyle K from the Member Care Department.

Although Angie's List doesn't provide info on average or "going rates" for various projects, when members and consumers submit reviews, they have the option to include that cost of the project.

With that in mind, one way to find out a very general price range on a project is to log on to www.AngiesList.com (http://www.angieslist.com/?CID=ANS) and search for "Moving" (or any other appropriate category for your project, such as remodeling - K&B or ceramic tile), and then look at the project cost info supplied by local members and consumers.

Of course, probably the best way to get the most accurate cost information is to request multiple bids from several contractors. As the price will vary with work site considerations and individual contractors' approaches, getting multiple estimates will help provide a clearer picture of what your project will cost.

I hope this information helps!

Showed up on time, put container where I asked. Piked up on time and redelivered two weeks later on time . All things still in place on pod because I followed their helpful packing recommendations. Great job.

They were very nice. We didn't have a scratch on anything. The pricing was very fair. They were one of the few places who could store our furniture. They were very professional and came out to provide an estimate. On the day they moved items into storage they were thorough with inspection of the furniture. The unloading of everything took 4-6 hours.

I first rented a storage unit from Applewood's Dairy Drive location in early 2013, for storage of extra furniture while my condominium was staged for sale. The units are clean, neat, well-lit and very safe. When my condo sold, I needed to store all my furniture and personal belongings until I found a new house to buy; I thought I could fit it all in one additional storage unit, but last minute, I realized I had too much stuff, and had to call and get yet a third unit for my possessions.

was responsive and helpful and made the whole stressful move/situation less stressful. The terms of the rental were clear and my security deposits were promptly returned to me when I finally bought a house and was able to move everything out. If I ever need a storage unit again, I would not hesitate to return to Applewood.

They were great and really wonderful to work with. They packed up everything very nicely. They did not change the price on me in the end. Even afterwards, there was some confusion with the final bill and they addressed the issue and refunded me immediately.

Crew was very punctual, packed several special handling items, loaded and transported a large amount of goods, and did so without damage or breakage. They were professional and very cooperative. Most importantly, they ensured the final placement of all the items was as requested.

While the storage was going on, I was happy enough; I didn't actually go to check in on my things periodically, so I assumed everything was fine. But on the date of move-out, the first problem came in the form of a password protected gate--one to which I was never given the password. So I had a moving company with me, and a big Penske truck, and we couldn't get in to the storage locker, and at 8:30am the place hadn't opened yet and so nobody was answering the phone. Once inside, it turned out that my bed that had been stored was covered in mold. On top of that, some of the furniture was covered in spiders, spider-webs, and, worst of all, spider eggs. I put these things in storage hoping that they would be equally as usable coming out--that's the whole reason to pay the rent on something like this, instead of just tossing the stuff in the garbage or donating it. That was definitely not the case here, and I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone.
