"On time Crew were hard working Foreman was responsive and cooperative and had great ideas when challenges came up Crew was responsive and cooperative Problems/Challenges" were overcome to my satisfaction My concerns were welcomed and satisfied I am a micromanager and as much as I could I watched and commented on everything they did. My comments and concerns were welcomed and addressed at every turn. I appreciated this more than they could know. I had numerous companies that claim to be foundation repair experts look at my basement wall problem over the years (the old poured cement wall was crumbling away), at least 5 different companies in the Indianapolis area, and ARW was the only company that came in and said, "Yes that wall needs to be replaced (none of the others were willing to take it out and replace it). Unlike the others the said "We can do it" In addition they said "We can solve all your other problems including coming up with a comprehensive plan to solve your properties drainage problems. In my mind "Outstanding" Now that the project is done... This company is the gold standard in foundation repair, crawlspace encapsulation and property water drainage management, It may not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. The owner of the company took my calls/concerns anytime I called him which was almost nightly The foreman took my calls anytime I called him The quality level of my overall solution exceeded my expectations The price was

"I was pleased with the work and as it was completed days before the recent nor'easter, especially pleased. I would certainly have gotten water in the basement" if the work had not been done. The basement remained dry and there was no damp smell. Mr.
provided the estimate. He came to my house w/in the appointed time and spent the time needed to discuss options and what would be the best way to handle the job. He was patient and polite and knowledgeable. He answered my questions then and subsequently. The estimate was detailed and complete with a detailed description of the work and specs for the products used. None of the other companies from which I received estimates came close to the detail. Only one would do an exterior system and their quote was a few thousand dollars higher. Since this kind of work is affected by the weather, I only had a rough estimate of when it would begin. Fortunately, the weather held and the workman were able to come over a week earlier than first estimated. The work was completed in three one-half days. The crew,
, arrived about 8am and worked past 4:00 each day. They worked steadily, were polite, cleaned up and when the job was completed left no debris behind.
satisfactorily answered any questions I had while the work was in progress. Mr.
arrived the day before completion to check on the work.
tested the sump pumps and walked me through the work upon completion to make sure I was satisfied. The crew trenched by hand and finished most of that the first day. This involved digging down to the footers at least eight foot. The excavated soil was placed on a tarp and the shrubbery that was in the way of the excavation was removed with the root ball still intact and re-planted after the job was complete. As I mentioned above, layers of sealant were applied to the exterior cinder block walls, followed by waterproofing membrane and drain board and installation of an exterior sump pump. The perforated pipe was laid and as well as blue stone to create a drain field. The soil was replaced and tamped down. The shrubbery was re-planted and mulch spread around the shrubbery. All debris was removed. As part of the job I had an old window bricked and two old pipe holes that went through the cinder block filled. I had the interior sump pump replaced since it was in poor condition and covered with sediment. I had to call an electrician at additional cost to me to install an exterior outlet for the pump. I was pleased with the work. I hope never to again to purchase a home with basement water issues but if I was mad enough to do that, I would not hesitate to hire this company again.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Oregon

The process was very easy from beginning to end.
1. An estimator came out and consulted with us on what would be the best solution.
2. He provided a too do list of things we needed to complete to prepare for the installation.
3. He scheduled the installation for us.
4. The crew arrived exactly when they said they would,

was easy to work with and said he would take care of me. They hung poly all over to contain the dust and went to work. It took about 2.5 hours from the the time demo was started to install the system.

walked me through the work they completed that afternoon and what the cement crew would be completing in ght morning. He also said the city inspector would be out in the morning at 9:00 am and he was.
6. The cement crew called in the morning and said they would be out at 9:00 to finish up. They completed their work, cleaned up and were gone within 1.5 hours.
7. My wife has mentioned a few times how surprised she was at the lack of mess.
We are very satisfied with the process and would use them again.

I had several contractors come look at our basement leak and

So far they system's working well. We hear it pump occasionally and the basement is dry.

The service was friendly and very helpful during a stressful time. Get the entire job done in one visit. Very helpful advice and training on the new sump pump. Will definitely use them again in the future.

Make sure that you get everything the salesman tells you that they will do in writing!
When we met with the salesman he told us about their services and their 100% satisfaction guarantee. He outlined the work to be done which included:
Footer drains Sump pump Interior wall covering Mold abatement Repair any interior and exterior cracks Repair any cracks in

floor Reroute disconnected downspouts Moving the washer, dryer and wash tub Additionally, we were told by the salesman that since our basement floor was so badly cracked they would

a coat of concrete over the entire floor (but he did not put this in the contract). This was a lie.
In fact when the subcontractors hired by the company arrived on the first day I immediately asked about the floor and was told "I''ll call, but we don't do that".
On the third day and final day of work the subcontractors stated that they had not heard back on this at all. I called the company and talked to the project manager who told me "We don't do that".
Later, the salesman showed up to talk this over with us, but not until the work was finished and the subcontractors were loading up the trucks. He told us that even though he had personally told us that this was the work they were going to perform, it was impossible. He apologized for lying to us and told us that he would work to get us refund of part of the $7300 that we spent.
Later he called and told us that he could give us $200, but it would be coming out of his commission. We paid the entire amount of the bill.
They never came back to walk through the job with us and have us sign there 100% satisfaction guarantee.
They never returned to move my washer, dryer and wash tub back into place.

They did not address a single crack in my floor, including the cracks along the outside perimeter that they made.
They did not reconnect the downspout at the back of the house.
They would not even return my phone calls asking for an address to send the check to.
During the initial sales call the salesman spent a lot of time telling us how bad his competitors are and how they are different.
They are no different from the rest. They are liars and cheats.
- David M.

I attempted to get three quotes. Company #1 never showed up to quote the job. #2 quoted me $1000. Permaseal quoted me $250. The salesman explained exactly how minor the problem was and how quickly their repairman could take care of it. True to their work, their repairman took less than 90 minutes to take care of the problem. Prior to this repair, one of the spots would leak every time it rained and the other whenever we had a really hard rain. Since the repair we have had numerous rainstorms, including two really heavy, long thunderstorms. Not a drop of water has leaked in. Couldn't be happier. I expected the job to be much more complicated and involve major drainage issues around the house or something. My hat goes off to them for honest and professionalism. The only minor issue I had was that they had to reschedule my minor job because a major job took longer than expected.

- David R.

We are very pleased with the services

performed. They dug around the entire foundation to apply waterproofing, jackhammered the perimeter of the basement, replaced the drain tile, installed a basement dehumidifier, and even removed an old shower that had been installed in the basement. The work was completed within a couple of days and they cleaned everything up afterward. we've had no issues with water in the basement since this work was completed, whereas before it would happen with any heavy rain and after the snowmelt.
- Erik E.

I am so very pleased with the work completed. I bought this house not too long ago. It's amazing how many issues can be missed! On all four corners of the foundation, there were large pieces of concrete that had broken off under the brick. After being fixed, I can't tell that it was ever broken. He did an excellent job of tuckpointing some areas of the brick that I did not notice needing repair. I had a large crack in a basement wall going sideways and about halfway in the eight foot tall wall. He told me that it was caused by too much pressure from the ground being too wet outside. He said the pressure from outside was pushing against the concrete wall and the crack would continue to grow larger and eventually leak. He installed new french drain outside to divert water away from the foundation and then sealed the crack in the interior basement wall. I am so totally pleased I can use the wood

in the basement. The first time I tried it, smoke filled the basement! It turns out the original clay flue liner was broken but the chimney was completely blocked by soot! It was just a matter of time it would have caught fire. I am pleased that all of my questions were answered politely and to the point. They didn't try to sell me services that were not needed. Everything was carefully explained to me on each of the repairs that needed to be made and why it needed to be done. The guys were always friendly and showed up on time. When everything was complete, I couldn't even tell that they were even there to begin with! They cleaned up any mess that the job created. I have high regards and highly recommend
