"They called in advance to let us know when to expect them. We had a slight miscommunication, but they handled it well, and we are satisfied at this point. We'll" see how the product works when the rains come.

-Stephen K.

"Poor from the start. Estimator didn't convey the job to the installer. We had to go over everything when the installers arrived. Which would have been fine" except the installer didn't know anything about the job and kept telling us what he suggested. The estimator/owner was asked to convey to the installers that we have dogs in our fenced in yard where they would be working. We asked them to leave the fence area every two hours so our dogs so our older dogs could relieve themselves. The owner/estimator was asked at the time of the estimate if the two hour intervals were acceptable while his crew was installing the gutters. While the installation was occurring I went out and asked the crew to please take a ten minute break per our conversation with the owner/ estimator
. I then checked the gates which there are five before I let the dogs out and either one of the crew was in the yard or a gate had been reopened each time I let them out and had checked the area first.. The gutters ended up being installed completely different than we were told they were going to be. We were told the two stories of our home would be connected to one downspout. The top downspout is draining onto the lower roof and shingles. There are so many scratches on the gutters that they look like the have had a metal brush taken to them. There was only one screw used for each connection and the gutter on the back of the house drains onto our flower bed instead of where they set it up to drain. While on the roof the installer in charge thought I was out of earshot and had a colorful phone conversation with the owner/estimator. If the job had not been completed I would have asked them to leave. I called the owner/estimator
and he agreed with the installer that there was only way to do the install and that his crew had another place to be. After they left they harassed us and sent four bills in a two week span of time. It is clear that customer service is not at the top of their list. Taking advantage of people and meeting their quota and getting their money is.

-Teresa K.

Two notes #1 20 feet is going to cost you more per foot that 100 feet.  #2 All prices are relative to Your market ie Omaha is less expensive than St Lious.  Here expect to pay on the 100 foot job $5 to $6 per foot of gutter (5" aluminum) plus the $4 to $5 a foot for the downspouts and $15 to $20 for soffit and facsia covering ie vinyl soffit panels and painted or vinyl clad aluminum covering the fascia.  In the trade a soffit & fascia job.

Unless you are constructing a French Drain (dry well filled with rock or debris and no exit) style system you use a non perforated system.  Cut the plastic flush on the angle where it daylights if the slope is great enough,  If you need it river rock can be used to construct a dry riverbed type drainage ditch out from the daylighted drain.

Short answer: It's up to you. Many home remodeling contractors, including exterior remodelers, don't expect a tip since they've already provided a set price within the contract, but if you really feel that they've gone above and beyond, you may feel obliged to tip them. Angie herself answered a very simliar question in a recent column: Should I tip my remodeling contractor?

Not knowing what type of eaves (the lower edge of the roof) you had before the new soffits were intalled I have to guess what might have happened. If you had closed eves (no soffits, just rafter tails with blocking between) before as was done on some older homes it is possible they removed or drilled holes through to the attic. When this was done there should have been a baffle installed to direct the air flow up and over the insulation. This would only be possible for the soffit installer to do if the wood blocking was removed and not just had holes drilled in it. If the insulation contractor did not go all the way to the exterior wall that could very well be the cause or it he did not make sure the insulation was pushed down to make contact with the ceiling material. If the house was never cold before I would bet the problem is at the eaves. You should call the insulation company for an answer.

The ice build-up in the gutter should not, provided they are properly attached and solid, rip out the gutter.

When you get snow slides and large chunks of frozen precip that let go and slide down the roof with velocity, those are what tear off the gutters and create damage.

If you are concerned about the snow load, a snow rake and/or a proper roofer can remove some of the accumulated snow.

Some ice damming is unavoidable in the correct conditions but I would urge you to look into proper ventilation of the roof and air sealing and insulation.  This will reduce your home's inclination to form these ice dams in the future.

Gutter Installation reviews in Mount Orab

Gutter looks great. The removed the old one and installed a very nice looking, heavy duty gutter in it place. Re installed the downspout and attachment points.

to a few days delay in their contacting me. This was not their fault. The gentleman performing the work, was efficient, informative and very professional. I would most definitely use their services in the future.

We talked about installing new gutters throughout the house. Unfortunately our needs were immediate and he had a reasonable backlog of a few weeks, given current weather predictions. Easy to work with, apologetic, and helped us find a provider with comparable pricing that would meet our needs. I had a great experience, but I should be clear -- they didn't do any gutter work for us, so I'm speaking more to the customer service.
- bug W.

They were very professional, timely and customer friendly. They delivered the product as promised in a very timely fashion and went above and beyond to keep me informed. After they were finished with the installation, they did a walk around and made sure I was satisfied with the end result (I was). I would highly recommend them for gutter installation.
- Robert W.

The crew arrived on time and got right to work. They were courteous and efficient, completing everything by early afternoon, including picking up after themselves. If not for the new gutters, you would never have known that a work crew had come by the house. This is a highly professional and competent outfit that I would recommend to any of my friends and neighbors.
