"Work started with the permit process. We had other contractors try to talk us out of it. Not

. Once the permit was in place, he arrived to begin demolition. We thought we'd hear chain saws and the crashing of the deck coming down. Not so.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
disassembled that deck by removing every screw and taking it apart board by board. (No, he wasn't being paid by the hour.) He hauled off every board and didn't leave a single nail on the ground. He had to dig new holes for 8 new posts. We felt very bad for him because he (and we) quickly discovered the nightmare under our grass. Our yard was basically solid rock.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and his assistant went from shovels and post diggers, to renting an auger and then a
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
hammer! It took an extra two days to blast through the rock and dig the holes. Never once did
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
complain or suggest we'd be paying more for the extra time or the unexpected equipment rental.
From there the deck went up beautifully. We anxiously arrived home every day with great anticipation for the progress we knew we'd see. It has far exceeded our expectations. The size is approx. 22' wide and 14' deep on one side and 17.5' deep on the other side with an angled design that mirrors our bay window's shape. We have a landing to the stairs that are 4' wide. We had seen a friend's deck who had picture-framed their stairs. We showed the pictures of it to
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
and he said he'd do and and not even charge us extra, just because he wanted to try the technique. They're beautiful.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
knows his business. I don't think there's a thing that he can't do. We know of two homes close by that he built and he has worked for friends of ours on kitchen and bath remodels. We were amazed and thrilled with his perfection and attention to detail. He is soft-spoken and works with quiet confidence. We never once hesitated to leave him alone in our home. He's a gentleman.
We're already planning our next projects (a new front door and, eventually, a master bath remodel) and
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
will be our guy. I hope he'll send potential deck clients to see our deck; we know they'll be as impressed as we are.

"I had come to Angie's List to find a contractor to handle the remodeling of my recently purchased home. I submitted a request on Angie's List to see if they had someone qualified. Service Magic sent me an email stating that someone would be calling me shortly. Mr.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
called saying he had received information that I was looking for a contractor. He offered to check out the property to see what needed to be done. We discused necessary work and he submitted a quote. I had explained to him that my house was a 2 story 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom home that needed to be upgraded and modified to allow my disabled daughter to live independently upstairs while I lived downstairs. We discussed the need for2 kitchens, 2 complete bathrooms, 2 livingrooms, 2 small diningrooms. This was not technically a duplex but I wanted to be able to allow my daughter as much independence as possible. His submiited quote showed costs for kitchens, baths, plumbing, electrical, repairing the front porch, modifying closets, and installing a wheelchaair ramp for me. He talked about how he could save some money by staying under budget and would appreciate it if I gave him a bonus at the end. I explained that the funds through a 203(k) require that any extra funds not used must be applied back into my mortgage but he said not to worry. He was sure he could find a way around that. He hired his father, a licensed electrician and HVAC, to install a new central air unit. The A/C did not work. It would run and blow room emperature air throughout the house. I called to see if he would come out to fix it and he refused. After making several calls to the HUD inspector, the father came out, went through the motions and said it was fixed. When I put my hand in front of the vent, the air was the same temp as before. I told him it wasn't cold air to which he put his hand over the vent and said "it's cool enough for me." As he was leaving he said "Good luck with this." I had to call a different HVAC technician to come out. They found that the father had not filled the refrigerant to the appropriate level before trying to charge it. It cost me an additional $400 to have the new technician fill the refrigerant and start it. Right away, we had COLD air. Good news for an asthmatic and an elderly woman with COPD during a heat wave. He hired Lowe's installers to handle the new carpet and vinyl flooring. Their quote was within the cost range Mr.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
had bid. Unfortunately, they could not install the vinyl flooring upstairs until after the kitchen cabinets and appliances were installed. Mr.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
stalled and said that when he was ready, he would install the vinyl flooring himself. The upstairs kitchen is still in a raw state. No appliances installed, no cabinets, no flooring and some drywall has to be done to complete areas where walls had window cutouts. In the 2nd floor bathroom, he tried to install the wrong shower stall. I had specifically asked for a less expensive version and he refused to use it. When he installed the wrong stall, it was not level and the plumbing was incorrectly placed. That cost another $2500 to correct the plumbing. The electrical wiring he had tried to fix on his own is still not corrected. I was told by the City that he had not obtained an electrical permit so it was a fire hazard. The work he did to restore my front porch looked nice initially. Three months later, the replacement posts are splitting where the nails were hammered in too close to the edges. The paint is cracking. I'm probably going to have to hire someone else to fix that area as well. The wheelchair ramp he installed to attach to the deck at the back of the house is already coming apart. There are boards that are coming loose from the frame and raising above the level of the ramp. The ramp was not installed to come level to the existing sidewalk. He had dug a big hole at the base of the ramp making it unusable. After refusing to come to work for over 30 days, I fired him. He sent his crew the next day to tear up the landscaping blocks some volunteers had placed at the base of the ramp so I could use it. They had already dug up most of my side yard. I told them to repair and replace what they had just torn up and then leave because the contractor had been fired. The worst part of this traumatic experience is that the contractor was constantly threatening to file a mechanics'
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
against me if I didn't pay him more and more money. He made up a list of things he had voluntarily offered to do then wanted to charge me for them.( Things like putting a rod in a new closet when I had told him to take the rods from upstairs converted closets that wouldn't cost anything) All of the plumbing in the basement needed to be replaced due to theft prior to purchase and I told him I wanted him to use PVC piping where it was allowed by regulations. He used PVC but then charged me for copper piping. When confronted he said there was almost no difference in the cost. The HUD inspector (previously a licensed plumber) said the difference was approximately $1700 more for the copper.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
refused to agree to a credit for me. We needed two interior doors placed in rooms downstairs, so I asked that 2 doors from upstairs, which would no longer be needed there, be used downstairs to save money. He did use them, then said that I still had to pay for them. During all of this ordeal I was careful about the budget. I was given coupons from my realtor for 10% off of all supplies from Lowe's. I had also received coupons in the mail for 15% and 20% off from Lowe's. I gave him all of those coupons to help defray costs. To the best of my knowledge he used those coupons to buy supplies for other jobs he was working while he wasn't finishing my house. His only concern is making as much money off of people (disabled or not) as he can. He doesn't care about what the client wants or whether it gets finished. I am certain that I am going to have to pay an attorney to straighten all of this out soon. I would never, EVER use this contractor or anyone associated with him. He seems very personable and likable but, in the end, everything he says is just a scam to take your money and not finish the work. Please be careful.

"We called three companies that were highly rated on Angie's list and received estimates. Ed (owner) was quick to return phone calls and very accommodating to our schedule in making arrangements to come out to give us an estimate. When he came to the house he was friendly and professional. He listened to my ideas and made practical suggestions to help us get the most "bang for the buck". He sketched out a plan on the spot that met our needs, was creative, utilized our space, and took advantage of the view of our back yard. A few days later Ed came back to the house with blueprint of his design. He sat with us, discussed the design, and shared several options that we had in terms of materials or upgrades. At this time he told us about an idea that he had to cover our
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
by weaving a strong mesh material. This was the perfect idea to cut down on the extreme sun exposure on the back of our house. Ed presented us with his estimate and a contract to sign and return if we were interested. Based on the design, price, and professionalism we say it was an easy decision to choose
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
's construction to build our deck.

A few weeks later Ed called me to let me know that they would be starting in a few days. Ed and two gentlemen showed up on time the day they said they would and got started immediately. They were personable and happy to answer any questions that I had. I met with Ed for a few minutes and took off for work. Each day I came home from work amazed at the progress that had been made. The work area was always clean and the craftsmanship was excellent. My wife was home a couple of times while they were working on the deck and was very happy with the professionalism and friendliness. Ed called me a couple of times through the building process to discuss their progress and see if I had any questions. I was clear through my conversions that he enjoys his work and takes a great deal of pride in what he produces. After the deck was finished, Ed came out himself to install the mesh weaving. It turned out better than we had expected.

This was by far the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. I was most impressed with the Ed's design skills and the professionalism of everyone we had contact with. I have already recommended
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
's Construction to several people and will continue to do so. We will probably be installing a theater room in our basement in the near future. I already know that I will be giving Ed a call to design the room and do the work.

"From the very start we felt comfortable with
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
, his crew and subcontractors. On things we had specific ideas on, he went with but when we were stuck for ideas they came up with great suggestions. He was on the job everyday and did a large part of the work himself. On days his subcontractors were working, he met them here and got them staarted. The project was on time and right on budget. We saved money on some of our selections, but added things as the construction was occurring.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
was never upset if we wanted to change something once we saw how it would really look. The tile floor he put in is incredibly creative. He and his crew were professional and he is definitely a perfectionist. At least once he redid part of what was already done since he didn't think it was done well enough. Every aspect of the job was appropriately inspected and permits obtained. After the beginning of the project it was discovered that a beam needed to be put in a couple places in the ceiling for support. This was done with little affect on the timeline of the project. In all, we got new ceiling, 12 can lights througout the whole room, pendant lights, under counter lights, all new cabinetry, all new appliances installed, including a new propane gas cooktop, new trex deck, coat closet was moved, stairwell to the upstairs was opened up. Railings wer made to match existing railings in style and color. Decorative moldings were created and installed.HVAC had to be relocated (thermostats and air ducts), New front door and back sliding door installed. The work area was swept clean at the end of each day and areas where they needed to work were kept covered so they didn't get the rest of the house dirty If we ever need to have work done in our house, if my husband doesn't do it, NO ONE will be hired to do it except

"Overall very well. We wanted to use resin instead of wood, but the distance between our columns would not allow us to use it because resin cannot be cut to fit. We went with a hard-wood pine that is stained with a Porter Wood Guardian Acrylic White Stain.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
came out to measure and take pictures. He built the railings at his shop and installation on-site took 2.5 hours. Looks FABULOUS!!!!!! Definitely having added the hand rails makes the cement porch look finished.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
is very professional and takes the time to offer advice and explain the good and bad of the woods and finishes. He recommends what he thinks will work best and explains why. We absolutely love it and will most likely be calling him when we are ready to re-do out back deck.

"The 2 gentlemen who did the work were friendly, professional and we were very, very pleased with the whole experience. We love our deck and are so happy that we used this company."

"Went extremely well. Some rain delays, but once under roof the work proceeded quite quickly. All members of the crew working on the project were friendly and very knowledge and skilled. I would highly recommend Vision to anyone wanting a job done correctly the first time. I will use Vision in the future for other project.

"Overall, it went well, The owner visited us 3 separate times to answer my many questions. Staff also very helpful, especially
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
. Also the deck looks amazing. Great job done. Covered plants, still 1 did get stain on it and looks like it is dying. Cons -
Took about 1 month to complete job. Delay of 14 days between powerwashing and staining. Probably due to miscommunication between conversation I had with owner about color choice selection not getting communicated to staff. Also another miscommunication (lack) from service staff to billing staff. Overpayment for service not rendered, but adjusted accordingly.
Deck was a bit of a challenge to remove old stain peeling off from failed stain previous year. Did a great job diagnosing how to fix this issue. Would recommend this again to others. Just book early or be ready to wait for a while to get your job done as they are very very busy and backlogged.

was punctual beginning with the estimate and the completion of the job. The original bid was to add on a 10 x 12 deck to an existing deck to cover the gravel area where a hot tub was previously located. Shortly after
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
left when meeting for the first estimate, I called him advised that I wanted to add on to the job and wanted a tree removed and the "entire" area filled in with decking. He adjusted the estimate and we agreed for him to complete the job. After completion, I realized the finished job did not have the look I was looking for and he came out to give me options. We agreed on a plan and once again I called him after he left to advise that I decided I wanted to completely replace the existing fence panels that surrounded the new area instead of only moving the existing aged ones. We agreed upon a price and he proceeded to complete the job in a timely manner and at the price discussed.
Hamilton Deck Builders Provider Name Locked
worked with me through many changes to the original plan and the new addition looks great. Would definitely hire him again for other projects.
