and his helper cleaned, polished and resealed our granite kitchen counters, replaced the caulking that was done incorrectly with grout. He was able to remove most of the surface scratches but could not get all of them out due to our neglect on our part. Granite was installed in 2003 and we've done absolutely nothing since then. He also removed stains and scratches from a marble bathroom vanity that we've also neglected. We have a 1929 stone tile floor in one bathroom and he was able to clean it and seal it. We also had him test worn tile in another bathroom. Although he couldn't restore the damaged tile, he was able to demonstrate that it would be much cleaner once he works on it. We intend to have him come back and do that work. His prices are very reasonable and he gives Angie's List members a discount. I highly recommend
. As long as we have the counters and he stays in business, we intend to have him come back on an annual basis and polish and seal our counters.

"I remodeled my kitchen several years ago and was lucky enough to contract with
. All around outstanding experience.
" has great ideas and is so knowledgeable and easy to work with. I am building a new house and, of course, did not think of using any other company. Their communication is great, installers are amazing, and prices competitive. I highly recommend them without reservation.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

Quartz countertop was installed without a hitch. The marble was another story. First the counter was cut incorrectly on the edges leaving gaps. They assumed we would be installing side backsplashes but when they came to measure I made it clear there will be cabinets resting on top of the counter and no backsplashes can be installed so the cut must be perfect. In addition the marble piece used was not from the slab my wife had selected. They took both the counter and saddle back and found the slab my wife chose and recut the pieces. They went above and beyond to make this right. They opened their shop on the weekend to cut the pieces and installed it by Tuesday thereby limiting the delay on our construction progress. In addition they threw in some door saddles free of charge to make up for the error. In summary some mistakes were made but they owed up to them, ate the cost, and made them right. Can't ask for anything else!

I was preparing a home to sell and as a result wanted a quality job for the best price possible. After receiving several bids, this company offered the biggest bang for the buck and didn't disappoint. Installers were professional and courteous; and follow up was great. Highly recommend.

It went well. Everything was done on time, the price was good, the quality of the work was good. They also installed a backsplash. We picked out the tile and they installed it. Everything turned out very good. The only negative is that the granite that we chose shows every water

that we don't wipe up within 5 minutes. They sealed it when they completed the job, but the stains still appear. We have to be very diligent to make sure there is no moisture on the granite. I have ordered and received a very expensive granite sealer that I haven't tried yet. If it works, that will be great. If not, there will be quite a bit of disappointment in the amount of care this granite is going to take to keep it looking great.

It went wonderfully -- two men showed up actually early on the day they said they would be there. They were pleasant, professional and clearly knew what they were doing. They did a great job given what they had to work with -- the prior contractor's job. I wish we had used them to start with. I will never use anyone but this company if I am installing countertops.

Still not resolved! I have asked for the correct size cabinets to be installed at no additional charge (the 22" and 24" are the same price). I have asked to remove the cabinets so I can have the dry wall repaired, I can't repair drywall with the cabinets in place without

up the cabinets. Finally this morning I asked for them to reimburse me $720 which is the difference between my deposit for the cabinets, granite, and installation. I actually think I should be reimbursed for the total amount paid to date so I can go to an appropriate vendor.
It is beyond me that an owner will not return a phone call to a customer. His website guarantees one year satisfaction on their installs. I did call my credit card company to dispute the charge (paid $1645 deposit including granite, total change is $2925.71) so we are disputing the charge, but he is not a vendor they can block!
I have NEVER complained publicly about a company or vendor...this is a first and I am beyond frustrated with the lack of response. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would have NOT installed the cabinets because it was so obvious I was expecting 24" deep cabinets.

The cutter hired through

Porter, completed our kitchen and did a beautiful job. The remaining granite was to be used towards the bathroom for our sink. At the time, we did not have the sink purchased and were told to call once the sink was purchased to move forward with the remaining bathroom work. It took us a little bit of time to get the bathroom sink however the moment we purchased it, we contacted the contractor through

directly. They were not aware that the work was never done and I was advised by them that he had quit. The women I spoke with from

did come to our home to take a look at what needed to get done. He said he was very busy but would come back to pick up the granite to get cut but yet we have not heard him. We also have yet to hear from
Fairborn Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
to follow up on the work or to see if everything is okay. We have been left stranded with no one to do the work. It is very frustrating as this was part of a bigger job and was only going to cost us $75 dollars for him to come back out to complete the work. Now we will need to start our research again and it might end up costing us more money unnecessarily.

Their team worked very well together. They have a very organized management staff, designers who were able to help me visualize the finished project, and highly skilled personnel who executed our plan nearly perfect. From start to finish we had a very pleasant experience. Our expectations were established early when we were informed on what was possible for our different phases and the budgeting required to accomplish each. The planning phase was as close to hands off as possible. Their team took a few pictures that I had provided and were able to build the entire plan out from those ideas. It was much easier than I expected. I was dreading all of the details. They reassured me they would handle them, and they did. When we moved into the work phase, the timing was on track throughout. We had very realistic time frames in place for each phase. We did have extensive problems with our electrical. The problems were brought to our attention immediately, with a plan on how to correct the problems, and everything was resolved. The finished home came out absolutely beautiful. We now have the dream home we saw in magazines.
- Melissa M.

They were very professional. Walked me through the initial appraisal, helped me pick out all the options I wanted, scheduled all sub-contractors for me, everyone was on time and very respectful. Easy going, and relaxed, from the first design to the final coat of paint. A superb job from an excellent staff.
