"They did a great job. They corrected the old alarm system, which was with another company. I've been very happy with their service, from the initial consultation to the installation. They listened to me.

"
offers a 60 day trial to use the product, as seen in their website. After a careful consideration (reading through their service coverages and limitations)," I decided that this home security product is not fit for me. The items are unused, packages are sealed and not open upon received in Sep 11, 2014 and I plan return to them as received. I purchased this product through Angielist on Aug 31, 2014. Since
offers a 60 day trial guarantee, I request your assistance for a full refund to my credit card. I have called and confirmed with
that they will accept my return upon your approval on my refund request. Thank you so much for your help. Thanks and best regards.

"
came out to my house to give me and my husband a risk free quote on what
could offer to us. We were so comforted by the information we" learned while meeting with
. We were looking for a security system and
made sure we also got the knowledge about smart security and what is commonly offered in the industry elsewhere. We now have a door that can lock automatically and a thermostat to save money on our energy. I have had the system for a few days now and I just love the convenience of the phone apps and geo fence. Angie's Answers

?
I second the original question (still unanswered). Speaking as someone who logged in today to try to find an attorney, I see this category as one that's exactly what I have my Angie's List membership for:

1. It's important that I find a good one
2. I'm not an expert enough to know myself who is a good one
3. The industry is full of advertisements and misinformation
4. I wish I knew what experiences other people have had

?
I don't care about lawns--I planted mine in clover and don't have to mow it. When I do need to mow I use a rotary Fiskars mower, which is great--or a scythe. That's right--a scythe (the European type, which is smaller, and it's very good exercise). Gas-powered mowers, chemical fertilizers and weed killers--all nasty stuff that gets into everyone's air, soil, and water. I'm sure my neighbor doesn't like my wildflowers, semi-wild pockets of fruit bushes, and unmown areas and yes, dandelions (I have 10 acres) but that's too bad. It's better habitat for wildlife, especially the pollinators on which our food supply depends. I think this obsession with the Great American Lawn is a waste of time and resources. Plant some food instead.

?
I'm not sure Angie et. al. want you to have a complete answer to this question. By re-subscribing at the Indiana State Fair in 2012, I think I paid $20.00 per year for a multi- year subscription. Maybe even less. At the other extreme--and I hope my memory isn't faulty about this--I think the price, for my area, for ONE year was an outrageous $70.00. And they debited me automatically without warning. I had to opt out of that automatic charge. I like Angie's List, but if some of the companies they monitor behaved the way they do in this respect, they'd be on some sort of Pages of Unhappiness. I'll be interested to see if this comment gets published or censored out of existence.

You have to put your self in the shoes of a business that is in business to turn a profit of some sort. All businesses have different overhead which in turn decides what their bottom line would be on their services. I personally would not go with an unlicensed professional for this type of install. You are messing with gas, venting issues, electrical wiring{electric water heater} and updated code issues such as a drain pan and tempature and relief drain lines for heaters that currently do not have them. I do agree that there are some companies that are way out of line for their installs but most of these companies are the really big companies that have very high overheads  I would assume. Tank type water heaters have changed over the last several years and with these safety changes come bigger prices. The price of steel thanks to China is skyrocketing and tank type water heaters are made of steel. Most wholesale plumbing supply companies cannot match what the big box stores are selling at retail to consumers. I happen to think from research that heaters such as Rheem, Bradford White and AOSmith who have been in business forever make a better product than what you can buy in the big box outlets. You also have to take in consideration the location of the water heater that is being replaced. Is it in the house, basement, garage or attic. Most 40 and 50 gallon water heaters that are purchased in a plumbing wholesale store in Texas cost between 300-340 for a 6 year warranty heater with 6 year on parts and tank. Speaking of warranty. Most big box companies will take a least 24 hours to a week to get your warranty problem taken care of. Most reputable plumbing companies will give same day service if they installed the heater.

So lets break down a typical install at cost to a licensed plumber in Texas

Heater: $315, water shut off $6.50, water flex lines or unions to code $20, gas flex line and cut off to code $12, misc fittings $15, Total $368.50 Lets add a 35% profit which is some what low  for a business $129, Total 497.50

This doesnt  include permits, pan and drain or any venting issues. The vent must go from the heater to the outside of roof using double wall vent.

Cost of permit on average $60

Most plumbing companies allow for 3 hours of time for a water heater. This includes picking the new one up. Delivering out to house. Draining and removing old water heater. Hauling off old heater. Installing new heater up to code. Going down to city and pulling permit.

Average Labor charges for heater installs $400

That would make this install run without extras on any code issues $957.50

I just had a 50 gallon gas water heater installed in my house for $1200 but I needed a pan installed. I used a licensed plumber.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

?
Todd said it best.

An itemized list / cost breakdown, more often than not is used against the contractor when it is shared with other builders who will then beat it.

Good contractors use good people, and good people cost more.  Just the cost of having the appropriate insurance / bond can be the difference between winning a job or losing it ot a 'lower bid'.

It is the rule of three; there is Good, Cheap and Fast.  You can have any two:  Good and Cheap, won't be Fast; Good and Fast, won't be Cheap;  Cheap and Fast, won't be Good!

When comparing bids, it isn't the cheapest or the 'nicest' person you should select.   You should understand why there is a large price difference (it shows there are gaps in your design program or what you have asked for specifically, which means there may be arguments later).  If most of the bids are in line, and one is way high or way low,  you want to know why before dismissing or selecting them.

A price-only decision almost always costs more in the long run.

Good luck!

We almost had an electrical fire yesterday when an outlet shorted out. We caught it in time before it started a fire. Called around to multiple companies before Rein. Rein was able to come out the next morning. They said they would be here between 7-8 and the electrician was here at 7 ON THE DOT!!! He was very quick (one hour) and was very nice. If there was anything wrong I would be the first to say. For some their service price might be a little high but you get what you pay for.

There was a bank robbery down the road from my home and the guy got away. I need to have piece of mind so we called
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
and they upgraded my ADT system and saved me money for no charge. They also reinforced my doors to keep anyone from actually breaking in. I initially had ADT come out to test our system but was not happy with the charge and the professionalism. They said everything was fine but I received a flyer from
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
and thought I would have a look at what they offer. After consulting with them I came to find out my system is installed correctly and working but is not flawless. ADT does not offer Crash and Smash Protection and my system can be disabled during a break in and
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
also proved it by letting us set the alarm and they were able to get in and the system never did call for police. I thought having a $1300.00 ADT pulse system was great but actually just a waste of money when it really comes down to it. My new system has everything and more for no extra cost. Clean professional install and training on the system was perfect. I set an appointment up to do my business next week. I wish every company was like them! These people are real security specialist not just a big name.

I have been using
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
for many years. They came to my house to reinstall my window sensors after I had all my windows replaced by a contractor. I needed service quickly because contractors were going to paint my window trim. They came out the same day I called them. The installation of the sensors went smoothly. The installer from
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
was able to do the job quickly and professionally saving time and money for the installation.
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
has always been responsive and gets the job done. I can recommend
Delaware Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
for anyone needing installation and repair of their system.
