Is a home warranty worth it?
No. 1: fire stations make good neighbors. If you’re more than five miles from a fire station or more than 1,000 feet from a fire hydrant, you’ll pay several hundred dollars more per year for your policy.
Each year, Angie's List analyzes its consumer reviews to determine what types of service yield the most complaints. Angie walks you through our findings.
First, call your insurance company and tell them you do not want any proceeds paid to the contractor under your policy as you are not going with them. This way they can not collect money on your behalf. Insurance will typically have you sign a form for release of funds anyway but this is a good extra step to make sure your signature isn't forged. Second, call the contractor and tell them you will not be needing their services afterall. Did your husband pay a deposit? If so it may be non-refundable. Then follow up with a certified letter.
An email as well doesn't hurt but some states don't yet recognize email as a form of communication for legally binding documentation. This may have changed and I'm sure more states do recognize them as I haven't followed that topic elsewhere as much as I used to. The contractor's office should be local. A sure fire way to ensure they got the message is to deliver the letter to the office of the contractor and have someone at the office sign a duplicate stating it has been recieved and read. There's no arguing whether they received it or not by doing that.
Hopefully you've learned your lesson about high pressure sales techniques and storm chasers looking for a quick buck. Some people find out a much harder way. While these guys may be legitimate you should always do your homework on a contractor before signing the contract. Unless you have water running out of the house and the work has to be done on the spot it's not so much of an emergency that it can't wait until the next day.

Home Warranty reviews in Canton
The order was placed for a new board. I found it curious and contacted the manufacturer, as well as, a major appliance company and they both told me that this was not the board, that this is a known issue and that it has to do with the tub and the pump.
A week and half later the tech appears with the board, installs it, goes through a cycle and...the same thing. The new board did not fix the issue, why? because the board was never the problem. The machine was misdiagnosed. The tech, which was sent by Choice, calls in and informs Choice that this is an issue with the the tub, the tech never mentioned the pump. The tech leaves and about 10 minutes later I receive an email from Choice to contact them. I called and they informed me that my claim was denied as this is not a covered issue.
I was really stunned because their policy is, "if they can not repair it, they will replace it", well they did neither. After some back and forth I asked them, if you are not going to comply with your agreement and fix the machine then give me my money back as this is not what they claim, that they did not conform to their policy and that they did not fix my machine. They stated that they would only refund me $129.00 after having a policy for about 20 days. I requested for a reason as to why since i have only had the policy for about 20 days. They said that they had paid for the board and that the only way they would refund part of my money is if they would get their board back. I said no problem but you must return my original board, since it was obviously in good shape. They asked me to contact the tech (consider this was the tech they sent, not my tech). I contacted him and he told me that he had disposed of the board. I called Choice and told them what the tech had stated and they said, well their is nothing we can do, this is not our problem. I said wait, how come has this become my fault, this is not my tech and I am now contacting him, the board was never sent to me by you, yet you want me to return it and when i ask for my old board then all of a sudden this is not your problem.
I am trying to get my money back via the credit card, though I will not recoup the co-pay, if this does not work i will be left not other choice to get my attorney involved. This is the worst customer service that i have ever seen or experienced and exhort all of you to not believe anything you are sold by the sales man, because I was informed that i would receive a welcome package and I never got anything..that has also become my fault.
People that I spoke to
Customer Care - she is the supervisor (Simply the rudest and most disrespectful person I have interacted with in a long time).
Manager - forgot his name as I was driving during our call (Fellow needs some serious Customer Service/Management Help...On one hand he understands that they are at fault and on the other he blames me for not receiving my welcome package and reading it).
None of these people were of any help...All of them were insulting and not willing to help.
The only person who tired to truly help was
When they finally assigned a company in my area, they said that water
heater needs to be replaced, but they wouldn't cover it, since main
water tank is leaking and they do not cover that.
If you read fine print in the contract you will find that for most items
they do not cover most frequently breaking parts, and if they do cover
something the limits for fixing are so small that you will end up paying
more for the repair than if you hire contractor yourself. TOTAL WAST
