Prior to contacting "
", I had called several contractors rated high on the Angies List but all of them made excuses not to take on the job, presumably because of the small size of the job (I guess they all wanted only large contracts worth thousands of dollars). Finally I found "
" on Angies' List and to my pleasant surprise, Herschey (the owner, I believe) said he would be glad to take a look and provide an estimate. He came by and explained what he could do, and provided a ballpark estimate. The work was scheduled (though there was a bit of a wait), and the one-man crew did a good job of fixing the porch as well as sealing shut the front side (i.e. drop-off), that had several loose bricks, with cement.
There are cracks in the new cement over the damaged porch section, but Herschey had already warned that cracks would be unavoidable without a more expensive replacement of the whole damaged slab. Even with the cracks, I am glad the badly damaged section has been repaired, and I would not hesitate to contact Herschey again for similar jobs in the future.

did work on my street last year and seemed to do a good job. We asked him to return and give us an estimate to replace our garage floor. The estimate was for $1500 and we gave a deposit of $500 on 3/19/2011 and signed the contract. All spring, summer and fall we waited for
to come do the job. We called at least weekly, if not daily. He kept on promising to come the next week. He finally came on 11/22/2011 and pulled up the concrete floor, promising to return the next day and have the job done by Thanksgiving. We then paid him another $500 to help cover the cost of the concrete. He did not return until 12/8/2011 to pour the concrete, when it was getting in to the upper 30's for temperature (not good for concrete pouring). At that time he asked us to pay the concrete truck driver $650 in cash and promised to return and put a sealer coat on the driveway for $100 and return $50 to me for the overcharge. He did return to spray the concrete. It doesn't look different and I am not really sure if he put a sealer on the concrete or just sprayed it with water. He never did return the $50, although he tells me he is going to drop it off. He did write in the contract that he will give a 2 year warranty on the work against cracks and crumbling. I must say that
did all the concrete work himself and that the work in the neighborhood has lasted for the last 1.5 years and through one winter.

The company was punctual and communicated quite well different steps involved in the process and what the different outcome options were. They held into the budget.

We signed a contract with him saying he would complete the job. He wanted a half down payment, so we gave it to him. It took him about two weeks to just haul away part of the concrete, then he said he didn't want to finish the job because it is too big for him. We agreed to let him quit. He was going to only charge us part of what we paid, but took all the money anyway without giving us a receipt. We checked other companies to see what they would have charged to just haul away part of the concrete and they were charging a lot less.

started the day after I wanted to hire him. They did a substantial amount of work in the first day. It rained for the next week so they were not able to come back and finish until later, but they came back the first day without rain. I was very price conscious when I looked for someone to do the driveway so I got a lot of quotes and learned a lot about what is involved in pouring concrete. I opted to go with someone without all of the frills. For example, we took care of the landscaping and putting down the sealer on the driveway instead of paying for this to be done for us. After the fact, my husband would have preferred for us to pay someone to put down the sealer. Not everyone who does concrete puts down sealer afterwards. When the lines were drilled in the concrete, they drilled over the drain, so Checchi gave us some money to replace the drain which he said we could do ourselves. We did do it ourselves, but I would have rather he did it.

He came out for estimate on a Sunday, then did the work the next day. Cleaned up after themselves. Looked great when we came home. Leveled sidewalks by lifting the blocks. He guaranteed work to pass city inspection.

I was very pleased with

' response. They reviewed the driveway and advised me as to my options. They advised me not to do as much patching as I had thought because, in their professional view, the patching would not work on various parts of the driveway. The part of the project that they did advise to do went very well.

Rich was a pleasure to work with. He arrived on time for the estimate. The work was slightly delayed by the weather. The work seems excellent. He saved the flagstone from the sidewalk for me and carted away all debris when he finished.
