"It was impressive. First a guy came out to inspect the foundation and found no problems! I am used to inspectors finding problems just to pay their salary. Two" weeks later another guy came out to inspect the sump pumps by pouring water into the sumps. One of the sumps was full of rocks so he cleaned it out. That in itself was a lot of work. If he charged three times as much, it would have been worth it.

"They were very professional. the original bid was for 45 feet of work, but the guys on site determined that it just needed to be the middle 15 feet. So they wrote" up a new proposal and completed the work that day. I waited several months to write the review to make sure the work fixed the problem. Every spring I spent at least one night mopping up water that would leak in to the basement from the front of the house.
fixed the problem. We have been through several storms where the ground was saturated and not a drop has come into the basement. The previous owners disguised the problem by sticking a towel behind the panel wall which would absorb the small amounts of water that would leak in. Only when the towel became completely saturated during week long storms would it leak into our basement. That towel was quite a science project when Basement Technology removed it.

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

If your basement floods, two critical questions need quick answers. First, where did the water come from. and second, how much will the basement flooding cost to fix? Here's what you need to know.

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!
?

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

All went well. I was there the entire time and no one was bothered by my presence or my constant questions. A couple older men where there with a lot of experience which helped keep the young guys going. The yard was not torn up and was left just as it was before. The bsmt was cleaned and looked better than before. Everybody worked, no goofing around....More /> Have not had one drop of water in bsmt. The mildew is gone, the floor joists are dry, and the dehumidifier is no longer needed. It cost more than I expected but now Im glad I spent the money. The difference is like night and day.

I first called
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
in the summer for a basic basement inspection and evaluation based on a promotion they were running through Angie's List.
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came and performed the inspection. He was very instructive and clear in explaining what I needed to do and why. He also provided several recommendations on other work I could to do stop some water intrusion issues and explained what the purpose would be. There was no pressure and he left me a very detailed estimate and indicated they were ready to do the work whenever I was ready. Of course, I got sidetracked. Six months later, I call
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he was ready, willing and able to do the sump pump install immediately. They came the next day and not only honored the estimate that was given, but installed the new basin, pump and piping required. They were in fact, efficient, fast and effective. I would definitely use this company again and recommend their services without reservation based on my experiences with them.

When we called them regarding their so called LIFETIME warranty, They said the system was working fine and tried to sell us on more work. I called the salesman after he wrote a new estimate and had questions. I asked him to come back out so he could show and explain the new work and he was too busy. The basement is completely flooded now and I am so infuriated. This company sucks and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

We waited and wated......
He finally called back at 1 pm and said the worker will be there in another hr.
We wasted the whole day.

Just not well, they wear extremely messy, broke a basement window (that they said they would replace but made no real effort) and they were lazy and did not tighten the fitting or use any epoxy to seal the joints. So during the first big rain the pumps started spraying water all over the basement.
They came back to fix them but I had already fixed them. I also had to change the flow of the outside discharge as it did not pass inspection. I went with them for the price and I got what I paid for.

Job went very well.
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, the foreman, was very professional. Explained what he was going to do well. He answered my questions well, and showed me the completed work. He was careful about keeping the work areas clean, and cleaned up well afterwards. He and his team (
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
) did an excellent job of laying the discharge pipe around obstacles in the landscaping which could not have been easy to do. Also I was worried about the grass being damaged a lot during placement of the pipe but they did a very good job of replacing the sod. I would highly recommend
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and the team they sent out today. The initial service representative
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was also very professional and would recommend him highly also to evaluate any needs for a waterproofing project.

Very good work by
Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. A pleasure to work with. Dependable, punctual. Arrived on time and explained exactly what would be done and how long it would take and followed through exactly as promised. Very clean and conscientious. Put down drop cloths and a dust curtain so this messy job did not get any part of the house dirty. Great job with exhaust fans and cleaned up completely after the job was done. Very professional and friendly crew.

Troy Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out the same day I called. She was courteous, professional and honest about what needed to be done. She kept me updated at least once a day most of the time more than once a day. She explained step by step what needed to be done and and explained how it was going to be done. My questions were answered thoroughly. I would recommend AA Action to all who suspect they have a problem with mold.
