"Used the Spring cleaning promotion.
arrived as scheduled and performed the maintenance under the watchful eye of my wife. The tech was" willing to explain all the work he was performing. They offered additional service as a preventive maintenance but we declined. They were not pushy at all. Definitely felt it was a good value.

"I was primarily interested in getting the HVAC system replaced. The water heater was working, but they said it would fail soon, so I let them replace it. Everything" seemed fine until about two years later, when I noticed that water was dripping down the side. I checked the top and found that water was pooling up there. I called
to see what they would do about it. I was told that they would send someone right out, but there would be a $135 service charge. I called someone else who came and did a temporary fix for about $35. They recommended replacing some of the fittings, which I had them do about a month later, at a cost of about $125. I have owned homes since 1980. I never before had to have work done on a water heater with ten years of its installation.

Hiring an HVAC service

The awkward-to-pronounce acronym stands for "heating, ventilation and air conditioning" which in many respects are completely different processes.

HVAC Maintenance

You can help your heating and cooling systems work more efficiently and last longer by tending to regular maintenance. Some things, like changing the furnace filter, can easily be done by the homeowner.

what should you pay.  You pay what you can afford.  1100sqft unit requires a min. of a two ton unit.  prices range from 2100-2900 depending upon the seers of the system.  13 seer is the min. the law requires  and for your situation with 1100 sqft.  do not worry about the seers as long as it is to code.  the bigger the house the more seers for economy.  1100 sqft is at the border line for a two ton system.  It is more important to have your new system balance, there is where you get the economy on your electric bill and gas.  Bryant, lenox, ruud and carrier are the brands you should stay with. All have the same basic factory warrantee and will last you longer than you expect as long as you maintain it with regular check ups twice a year once in the spring and then in the fall.

The only thing of importance, is the hvac professional you choose to use. Alot of manufacturer's pieces are built relatively the same, and will last about the same amount of time. The thing that matters most is what you can not compare between companies, and that is the installation. Purchasing a system is not like purchasing a car, where no matter where you buy it, they are all the same. Each installation is different, and usually what you are paying for is the level of expertise, and quality of the installation, the company who will actual give you the warranty, and the comfort that you will receive. Manufacturers warranties disappear every day. They always have a loophole where they can get out of paying, but your local dealer wants to keep you happy for future work, and to protect his reputation in the communiy. Look up 4 year old Nordyne and Goodman warranty problems. Choose the HVAC professional first. It will cost you the least in the long run. I have had to totally redo plenty of installations that were just performed because of an uncomfortable customer, and a system that keeps breaking down. The equipment is only as good as it's installation, and over 70% are not installed correctly.
?
Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

?
I'd rate them equal,or close,as with several other brands. I'd be more concerned about the difference in installation and service down the road. Difficult to determine the difference ,but asking for detailed info about their installation, may convince you to choose one over the other.

The Dept. of Energy states that poor installations can cause a 30% efficiency loss! Plus with Gas their are saftey issues, venting properly etc.,and of couse the need for a "low Level" Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
?
I think maybe you are confusing SEER, which is an efficiency-related rating (higher SEER means more effective use of the electric power used to compress the gas), and TONS rating, which is a measure of the total cooling power of the system. (Tons used to mean how many tons per hour of ice was used in evaporative cooling building systems - a Refrigeration or Cooling Ton equals 12,000 Btu/Hour of energy exchange. A BTU, which is another antique measure but still used, is the energy needed to change the temperature of a pound of water one degree fahrenheit. Unfortunately, because of varying humidity and evaporation, this is not readily related to house air heating or cooling without a lot of assumptions and some computations. Relating this to today's world - the Manuals BayAreaAc referred to account for all these energy conversions and determine an estimated cooling (or heating) requirement for your specific house. The type of construction, solar exposure, general climatic conditions such as average temperatures, humidity, and hottest and coldest normal ambient temperatures and desired inside temperture are all taken into account in the more sophisticated versions of the analysis, so there is no "standard", though a rough old rule of thumb was about 1 ton of cooling per 500SF of house. Obviously, this was a WAG only because it did not account for insulation, type of roofing, whether you live in Alaska or Miami, etc. The ACCA manuals do a very simplified form of evaluation to arrive at a "design", which generally will be adequate. OF course, highly precise calculations are not really needed because A/C units generally come in even ton ratings - so if you are at say 2.6 ton requirement you will be getting a 3-ton unit anyway. SEER ratings are not a direct measure of efficiency, but the relative difference between ratings gives you good idea of the unit's relative efficency in using electricity - so a 16 SEER should be about 19% more efficient (so roughly comparable lower electricity bill) than a comparably sized 13 SEER unit. 13 SEER is the lowest efficiency currently allowed to be built for general use, 19 SEER is about the highest efficiency made by pretty much all manufacturers, and about 25 SEER is the highest rated though very pricey shelf-item units, though special construction custom units can reach about 30 SEER. Note however, like any government sponsored rating, much of it is hooey when you get down to it - for instance, SEER ratings are figured based on 80 degree inside air temp and 82 degrees outside, when that is far from the normal case of mid to low seventies inside and high eighties or above outdoors. This makes the absolute SEER rating meaningless, but relative numbers still have meaning in comparing units. Note these efficiency ratings are for conventional air conditoners and heat pumps working in ambient air conditions. Ground sourced Geothermal or lake/river exchange cooling units, though initially more expensive in most cases, can greatly exceed the air-exchange unit efficiencies because they are exchanging heat with cold natural water rather than with a high-temperature outside air, and instead of continually compressing a gas are just circulating cold water. I worked on one geothermal cooling project which had almost infinite efficiency, which of course makes no sense - but the only power was for sensors and a control valve as the water flow was single-pass under gravity flow, so no power was used to circulate the water.

We are so happy with the service we received from
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
! Our AC was on the
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked

Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
who gave us an estimate for a new unit within a day, to the end of our installation that same week by
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked

Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very professional and didn't pressure us into buying anything bigger than what we actually needed.
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
were at our condo for over five hours removing the old unit and installing the new one, and saved us even more money than we had anticipated after testing our existing equipment. They were both very knowledgeable and informative when we had questions, and we've been recommending them to all of our neighbors with older units like ours. Thank you so much for your outstanding service! We won't hesitate to contact you if we have any needs in the future.

Absolutely, TOTALLY perfectly!!!
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been one of the best servicemen I have every hired or worked with (and I have hired and worked with a lot)!
I first chose
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
to install our furnace/boiler (an important and big job, for the winter was approaching) because: (1) he had been very well reviewed on Angie's List and other websites; (2) I had a very, very good feeling about
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and the quality of his work; and (3) he was the lowest bidder -- a couple of hundred dollars below the others who bid on the job, NOT including some bidders who were jerks or seemed incompetent. I rarely choose the lowest bidder, for I want quality and a fair price, but I was impressed by
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
from the very first, and he has never disappointed me. In fact, he has consistently surprised me with his phenomenal service.
Since 2013, I have hired
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
for several jobs. He has continued to surpass my expectations. I have just moved out of the neighborhood and will no longer be able to hire
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but I wanted to write this review so that others can hire the best guy out there.

I contacted Herb because my old a/c unit was not cooling properly. Herb responded quickly to my call and provided me with his professional opinion of what needed to be done for a fixed price, the same day. Herb was easy to work with and did an excellent job installing the new unit. He was able to install the new unit on my old wood platform while keep it close to the wall and out of the walkway.

I was initially reluctant to write this review even though I was unhappy with the initial services.
I have since had a leak in either the condensate or refrigerant line and just spent an unnecessary amount of effort attempt to get a technician here to address it.
(1) The price was moderately competitive but we were willing to pay above low bid given positive reviews on Angie's List.
(2) Getting the service required that I take off work for two separate visits, one from what I appeared to be a sales rep and a separate visit from a project manager. Each of these visits took a lot time. I typically would not mind if the quality of service followed.
(2) The technicians did not fully drain the radiators before disconnecting, spilling water all over the 3rd floor and into the 2nd floor. The technicians did not report this to me. I had to find out indirectly from a painting crew - which included a good fried When I inquired, I was told told approximately one
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
had spilled. However, the water had came through the 2nd floor across a 15 foot span, and I am told plenty more than one
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was spilled. I had just insulated between the 2nd and 3rd floor and was concerned about wet insulation both performing poorly and/or growing mold.
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was given the option of replacing the insulation but declined.
(3) Part of the refrigerant and condensate line was installed exposed. Apparently I agreed to this, but I do not recall doing so. I had to explain my concern with this to four different representatives. It's frustrating to have to repeat yourself in these situations.
(4) I normally wouldn't mention something this
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but several times one of the installation technicians mentioned how it important it was to be done by 3-330. It was Friday. They started at around 845.
(5) Before install started, I asked if
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
would be willing to also install a whole house fan that I had purchased. I indicated it could be done on a time and materials basis given the uncertainty in the scope, but they wanted to provide an estimate. While I acknowledge that there were considerable uncertainties in the preparing the estimate, the estimate for labor alone was $4000. I had the fan installed, materials included, for about $800.
(6) Today I noticed either the refrigerant or condensate line is leaking near one of the air handlers. It took me over an hour to connect with an after-hours technician. They hire a third party to receive after-hours calls. The only means of connecting with a technician is for this third party to page them, then the paged technician return your call from an unlisted number when convenient. When I finally spoke with the after-hours technician, I was told he had too many calls for the evening and would not be done "before dark." Thus service would have to wait until tomorrow. I do not know why they even bother with after-hours service... If you hire them, good luck getting help with any subsequent problems.
I will mention that the sales representative,
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
, was very communicative and professional throughout these challenges. He was the positive aspect of their services.

The estimate was given on 6/25/2015, and all of our questions were clearly answered. The work was completed in one day, by
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his assistant just before a heat spell. The cooling system worked well and was very quiet in the low setting. This system also has a heat mode, which we will try out when the weather gets cool in the fall. The installation work was very clean in and out. We selected
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
because they appeared to be the best value. As a bonus, they also happened to be the closest to us All in all, the work was professionally performed and we would recommend
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
to our neighbors.

Had a great experience with
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
& Cooling.
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out and gave me a thorough estimate with various choices of energy efficient models to choose from; he never forced the more expensive units on me and let me make my own informed decision which was a pleasant surprise.
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was able to work around my pending vacation and had a crew scheduled for me when I returned; the crew had my old unit and all duct work removed and the whole system installed within 1 1/2 days! The crew was very courteous and addressed any questions or concerns I had quickly. The quality and workmanship of
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
's crews is also bar none, they use quality materials and it is apparent that they take pride in their work. During final inspection the City Inspector commented on what a great job they did and that he is always happy to inspect their work…and if you've ever dealt with City Inspectors you don't hear that very often. The crew super and the owner
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
both came out after installation was complete to ensure all my needs were met and that the work was up to their standards. All in all I would definitely recommend
Saratoga Springs HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
to anybody looking for a quality HVAC contractor!!

The service crew was punctual, a crew of two. They seemed to know what they were doing...but I didn't! They went to the back and stayed out there having a great conversation that I could loudly hear from inside the house. They had all AC units running and attached some tubes to the units outside. About 30 minutes later, they walked in and told me they had added 2 gallons of Freon and it'd cost me $99. They recommended I replace all my 3 AC unit because they were just over 10 years old! Then they left! Very little detail, no explanations!
I'm giving them a B grade. I prefer to be informed and educated and given reasons for any recommendations.
