"We have been using the company for about 2 years. They were excellent with helping us spot an issue with our roof. They went above and beyond for us. They found" a company to repair the roof at a low cost. The estimator they sent out noticed things others had missed and he did a great job. It is pretty easy and standard to reach the company when I need. They have been very responsive, as well.

"Several people called after I inquired online but
was eager to assist at my convenience. There was no cost and
spent" along time explaining different plans and customizing for my needs. He didn't push one way or another, just fully explained and answered all my questions. I feel he helped me make the best decision and feel comfortable and thank him for his time and concern.

Water everywhere ... are you covered? Water damage is the most common homeowner's insurance claim. It can go beyond flooding to include backups and pipe damage.

A high deductible homeowners insurance policy will save you money on your annual premium, but review these pros and cons of such a policy before you sign.

High deductible insurance policies are often a popular option for homes of higher insured value, as homeowners tend to have the means to pay the deductible if necessary. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Todd C., of Maple Valley, Wash.)

Is high deductible homeowners insurance inevitable? As more insurance companies require homeowners to cover more of a claim, what does that mean for you?

First, call your insurance company and tell them you do not want any proceeds paid to the contractor under your policy as you are not going with them.  This way they can not collect money on your behalf.  Insurance will typically have you sign a form for release of funds anyway but this is a good extra step to make sure your signature isn't forged.  Second, call the contractor and tell them you will not be needing their services afterall.  Did your husband pay a deposit?  If so it may be non-refundable.  Then follow up with a certified letter.

An email as well doesn't hurt but some states don't yet recognize email as a form of communication for legally binding documentation.  This may have changed and I'm sure more states do recognize them as I haven't followed that topic elsewhere as much as I used to.  The contractor's office should be local.  A sure fire way to ensure they got the message is to deliver the letter to the office of the contractor and have someone at the office sign a duplicate stating it has been recieved and read.  There's no arguing whether they received it or not by doing that.

Hopefully you've learned your lesson about high pressure sales techniques and storm chasers looking for a quick buck.  Some people find out a much harder way.  While these guys may be legitimate you should always do your homework on a contractor before signing the contract.  Unless you have water running out of the house and the work has to be done on the spot it's not so much of an emergency that it can't wait until the next day.

Consider going to library an reading Consumer Reports rating on home insurance companies in your area.  For affordabilty elect the highest deductable you can stomach.  This will lower your premioum, I went thru Costco, they and Sam's Club can be a valuable resource for home and car insurance. Shop on line with your needs to save money.  Unless you have major assets forget large policy. For your gutter and roofing needs see my blog.

My husband and I were very impressed with

WATCH OUT FOR THIS COMPANY. As a result of their astoundingly incompetent communication "policy," they
Saint Johnsville Insurance Agents Provider Name Locked
me to believe I had insurance coverage when I actually didn't. I processed an online payment for renewal, as I had done before without any problem, and a few days later I received a policy and ID cards in the mail with appropriate dates, along with a thank you letter. After a while, very fortunately, I became puzzled at receiving no email communication from them, since they are normally very chatty with emails. I logged in to my account and discovered that the policy had been CANCELLED for "nonpayment." Somehow they must have failed to process the online payment correctly, even though the site showed at the time that it had gone through. They sent me nothing but paper mail regarding the cancellation, NOT ONE SINGLE EMAIL. I did not open the paper mail, assuming it was advertising for other types of coverage, which they had sent a number of times before. They had previously notified me by email when it was time to renew, among other things, and it literally never occurred to me that they would do something as drastic as cancelling my coverage without sending me ANY EMAIL COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER, but it seems that this, for some obscure harebrained reason, is their "policy."
IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY MAKE EXTREMELY SURE THAT YOUR COVERAGE IS ACTIVE AND CHECK IT FREQUENTLY. NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FAIL TO OPEN ANY PAPER MAIL FROM THESE IDIOTS.

It went really well. A long-time friend had recommended this agency highly. She had complicated insurance needs as she is a sculptor who needs to have insurance to ship her sculptures and also needs insurance when the sculptures are displayed in public areas.
First of all, this agent was very helpful in cluing me in on how insurance works. He explained the different companies priorities and customs. My prior agent had never said a word about it. Also, he kept in touch about what was going on, telling me how he was going about finding me insurance. He took pains to learn about my situation, look at the house, and explain the paperwork. The prior agent did none of those things.
In comparison with other agents I consulted, this one took pains to

out insurance for me and was a good advocate for me with the insurance companies he contacted about my house.
The result was that I got more reasonable insurance than other agents had found for me and a better policy than I might have gotten.
This is a company with excellent customer service and professional responsibility and know-how.
I highly recommend this agent for any householder but especially for those who lost insurance because of some weather problem that was not their fault.
By the way, Angie's list's chronology for a review does not really capture the timing of the service of an insurance agent because it requires that you put a particular date. This agent helped me over the late fall and early winter.

In several ways it was not good at all.
As an insurance advisor, Spinillo never gave me the advice all home-owners should have, advice my current gives me. For example, she did not explain how to handle damage events, such as the ice dams my house had in 2014. Somehow, one event got classified as two, which ended up losing me my house insurance.
Also, whenever I would call the agency, there was no one who answered the phone. I'd get a response back days later, always with some excuse: an illness, the weather, a car breakdown.
Then, when I requested cancellation of a supplementary policy for valuables, which I decided I did not need, not having many very valuable things, the company neglected to follow through on the cancellation. I had contacted the insurance company, which told me I had to cancel through the agent.
So, I called them to request the cancellation. I wrote them an email to request cancellation. They acknowledged my email and sent me a form to cancel. I filled out the form they sent me to sign, to formally request cancellation. The form was delivered to them from me, by email successfully.
But they did not ever cancel the policy and the insurance company is still billing me for a policy I cancelled months ago
Insurance agencies are required to carry out the lawful requests of their customers. This agency did not do that.

has always been my preferred insurance provider, and they still write a lot of my insurance. However, their rates have always been a bit on the high side.
In this case, their rate was way too high.
AAA is fairly new at homeowner's insurance in Florida, but by bundling homeowners + 1 of my cars + an umbrella policy, they made me "an offer I couldn't refuse" on the rate.

Couldn't have gone better!
Saint Johnsville Insurance Agents Provider Name Locked
got competitive quotes for my auto, home and umbrella liability policies. He also helped me do a side by side comparison of coverages to ensure the quotes were equivalent to what I already had. In the end, I got slightly better coverage (due to the bidder's packaging) and saved 18%. This was likely a small deal for
