"Mammoth came out within a week of buying the special deal. The employee was on-time, friendly and professional. He inspected and cleaned the glass of our gas fireplace." There was no up-sell for anything as our fireplace was working well. I would absolutely call this company if we were to have a problem in the future.

"The technicians arrived approximately in the middle of the time frame we were told to inspect them. Our chimney was fine. The
was disassembled" and cleaned and we were told that it needed new gaskets (which it did). We were told that they would have to be ordered and we would be called when the gaskets came in so an appointment could be scheduled to install them. We waited over 01 month and, not hearing anything, called Brothers on 06/08/15. We were told the gaskets were on order and had not yet come in. On 06/17/15 we called and had to leave a voicemail message. Our call was returned on 06/18/15 at which time we were informed that the company which supplied the gaskets was 3 months behind in filling their orders. On 06/30/15, we called and left another message requesting a status on the order. Our call was never returned. On 07/27/15, we called and were informed the gaskets were still not in. We were informed that Brothers was going to contact the supplier (
Castings) and they would call us back to let us know what was going on. We never received a return call. My fiancee visited the store on 08/26/15 and was able to purchase one of the gaskets needed for the
. My fiancee was informed that that particular gasket was probably in stock when our
was initially serviced and the Brothers representative she spoke with did apologize for not knowing. My fiancee was also informed that the other gaskets should be in by the 2nd week of September. We called on 09/10/15 and were informed that the gaskets were coming and we would be contacted when they arrived. After not receiving any word from Brothers, and with cold weather approaching, we contacted another Chimney Sweep company on 09/26/15. As it turns out, the other gaskets needed for our
(outside of the one we purchased on 08/26/15) were not specialty items, but were made of "loose" gasket material that comes in standard sizes and that most Chimney Sweep businesses probably keep in stock. That was how the other company was able to put gaskets in our
and reassemble it. We do not know why Brothers could not do the same thing as we had visited there showroom prior to their service call and noted that there was some "loose" gasket material in their showroom. We understand that businesses, especially small to medium sized businesses, have their problems and running one cannot be easy what with the abundance of competition and the economy being what it is these days. However, businesses survive by having satisfied customers (which can mean repeat business). After our experience with
this year we have decided to take our business elsewhere. We would not recommend them to anyone.

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Fireplace Repair reviews in Red Hook

It was fine. They were good. I had to purchase a part and it ended up more but that was not their fault. I had to get something and it was fine. It wasn't huge. He was good. I would use them in the future.

Arrived on time, was pleasant, went straight to work on my four fireplaces that were in very poor condition. He worked meticulously on each one. Made them all work and look like new. And then gave me a very detailed run-down on what he did for each one and what recommendations he would make for future maintenance. I could not have asked for more or better. Will definitely use them again.

I booked it through one of Angie's List deals, so the price was good. Scheduling was easy, he showed up on time and was speedy but thorough. Good job.

He was very friendly and patient with all of my questions. He even had a treat for my dog! The service was performed efficiently and safely.

Everything went very well during the repairs made. They were very professional and informative of inquiries by the homeowner. The actual appointment was made directly to the company by telephone upon the receipt of a timely return call.
Being new to Angies' List I wasn''t aware of the notification process, which should have been made through my

did contact

and said he would drop what he was doing and meet me in 35-35 minutes, I declined. I don't want to do business with a company that is late for an appointment, doesn't call to notify me and is busy with "emergencies". To me this is a sign that the company is disorganized and not reliable and is not the kind of company that I want to do business with.

I have rarely been moved to post reviews, because I have rarely received as excellent service as I did from

with Northeastern Chimney. I cannot rate them highly enough.
Red Hook Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
(who may be the owner - certainly someone in management) came to give an estimate to restore an old insert fireplace into a proper wood-burning one. We knew from other estimates that it was an expensive and difficult job. In fact at least one other company said they could not do the job.
Red Hook Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was confident the Northeastern team could do it. He outlined all of the steps needed to take place. He gave a fair estimate (which he 100% stuck to) and he walked me through the entire process.

On the day of the service, I was told they would arrive between 8 and 8:30 AM. By 8:15 Am they were at work. The techs saw the difficulty of the job and brought in a supervisor to confirm their steps. They worked to get a badly installed cemented liner out of the flue. All along the way they were friendly, explained the work, etc. But most of all - they were clean. It was an extraordinary mess getting the liner out - the chunks of concrete that were flying were dirty - but they had a vacuum going so that the dust wouldnt get on any of the living room surfaces that they hadn't already covered. Clearly their mothers taught them well with clean up as you go along!

The entire process took a day. They flashsealed and waterproofed the chimney as well as capped unused flues so water and animals would not get in. AND even though
Red Hook Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
said they would not be the cheapest, they actually were right in line with the other estimates, and were far more comprehensive. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, responsible and fairly priced project. And apparently I am not alone - when I told some people at work who was doing the job, they all said "Northeastern - they're good people"
- John R.

I tried on numerous occasions to speak with them on the telephone, no one ever answered. I went to their store to get information about a fireplace insert. I was given several brochures about nice inserts. I left my number with them and they never returned my call. My husband and I went back to their store about a week later, after my husband emailed all the pertinent information about our request. The first thing one of the owners said to us was that "we don't do any more work at you condo complex, it is too much trouble." But he did say that the other owner would get back to us, because he was the one who deals with these installations. He never called us back. My husband finally got the other owner on the phone, and he also said that they would not do any work at our complex. We wasted several weeks trying to get some answers from them. Not only were they unresponsive, but when we finally met with them they were extremely rude and unprofessional. The complex we live in has over 2600 units. Not every installation or job they do will be "easy." They have lost many potential customers, since every unit has a fireplace and many owners are looking to get an insert for supplemental heating.
