Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
called the 29th of January for a propane delivery. I had about 30 gallons. After awaiting 10 days and no delivery i had to turn off my furnace with 5 gallons of propane left and heat with electric space heaters for another week before they even delivered. Then they left a bill for $4.83 a
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
!!!!! for $468.02. A 39% increase in a matter of 35 days from the last delivery on 1/10/14. My bill doubled and so did my electric bill !!

This company was referred to me by
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
Valley, a propane company which I haven't actually used yet, but plan to. I live out in the country in a community that has a history of power outages due to heavy tree cover, so I purchased a large generator that could run everything, including my well pump and septic pump. I learned that the propane tank I had wasn't large enough to handle the size generator I had purchased.
Other companies weren't willing or enthusiastic about a job where they weren't selling me a generator. But when I called
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
they were very responsive, calling me back within hours and coming out the next day to advise me and get me a quote. I had visits from both co-owners of the company prior to the work in order to ensure that they were planning the job properly. They handled every step, from start to finish, and they left the job site as neat and tidy as is reasonable for what was involved. I haven't completed the electrical part of the project yet, but as near as I can tell, the job was done quickly and done right. I won't hesitate to continue using them and recommend them to my neighbors.

Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
was on site doing all of the work himself.
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
obtained all of the required permits and completed all of the work well. There was one minor hitch when the Building Inspector required the addition of a #6 ground wire to be run from the range to the panel.
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
did not seem to want to come back out for that part of the job after being paid. I ended up doing it myself, called for the inspection and all was fine.
In the end, I would use
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
again but I'd withhold final payment until the final inspection was complete.

Installation and hook-up went smoothly, nothing to complain about. But my yard, where tank was installed, was left covered in large rocks (that had been dug up while installing tank), minimal grading, large tire tracks across the front lawn, and a large drop off to adjoining wooded area. When we called to ask for the area to be graded as promised, we were told that it was graded and the rock removal and further grading were our responsibility. We had two landscapers come in to tell us what would be needed before we could seed the area and we were told that a truck load of dirt and rocks had to be removed, the area had to be graded and top soil needed to be brought in before seed and straw could be laid down. Cost $1,100 more!!! We called
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
with this information and we again were told it was our responsibility. It wasn't until we told them that we were calling our lawyer, 3 weeks of back and forth phone calls, that
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
offered to split the cost with us.

They showed up on time and installed a new propane tank. In addition, they checked for leaks indoors and verified the kitchen

functioned. Prompt and professional service.

I was given the "introductory customer" rate for the year, and the first fill was well-priced. But there was no index whatsoever for the prices used on all fills thereafter, and I was obligated to them for a full year. Prices were much higher than competitors, and were arbitrarily set with no reference to
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
prices. They can charge whatever they want on every fill. I was also on "automatic replenishment" but twice I had to call them to ask for a fill, and fell to dangerously low levels (less than 10% remaining) during the very cold winter. They also delivered a fill in June at a ridiculous rate over $4 per
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
(most providers were charging less than $2 per
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
at that time). I called to complain and they dropped the price, but never explained why the price was set so high to begin with. For the winter of 2014/2015, I called to ask for their pre-buy price. They are $3.75 per
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
, all other providers in this geographical area are charging less than $2.20 per
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
. I have no idea how
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
remains a viable business, nor why any consumers choose them as their supplier.

Problems with
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
began last winter when it failed to come to my second home on schedule and my propane tank emptied, leaving my gas furnaces inoperable. Then, after long delays on the telephone on multiple occasions, I was told it would be a couple of days before they could come, as they had run entirely out of gas. Then they scheduled a delivery for a Saturday, and I waited until 10pm with no communication from the driver, when I had to return to
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
finally filled the tank the following day, and I had to return to restart my furnaces myself (an hour's drive from my home). I later learned from several sources that
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
had transferred gas from this region to western regions during the shortage, leaving local customers without gas, and that they were charging as much as $2.00 per
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
more than local-area competitors for gas.
So when I decided to install a standby generator and a second propane tank to supply it, I naturally turned to a competitor rather than continue service from
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
, both for the old tank and the new tank. My new supplier said that the fair value of my old tank, which I would have to purchase from
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
, was worth approximately $400, but
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
charged me $800, as I was warned it would. Of course, they had me over a barrel, as the only other option was for me to allow them to come dig up my 500-
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
tank, forcing me to buy a new one.

First time using this service and I am very pleased. They were there early on the day they promised and the tank they left is in great condition. I dealt with the office manager to correct an address issue that was my fault and she was very accommodating and helpful. This is definitely better than having an empty tank roll around my car while I drive to an exchange location and then hassle with getting someone to unlock the cage.

This company was extremely professional. Did a much better job of installing the tank than the company I used before them. They filled the tank the same day. I switched to them because they had propane last winter when my previous company was rationing it's customers. I was with that company for twenty years and when I asked them to sell me the tank they refused, so they basically held me hostage through the winter. When I could get a truck into my yard I switched to
Latham Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
, best move I ever made. My old company still hasn't picked up their tank and told me they weren't sure when they could come and get it. Now you know why I changed!
