"I couldn't have been more pleased with S & T's quality of work and professionalism, especially after hearing some of my friends and neighbor's" contractor nightmares. I was really unsure of how to best use the space I had and
offered excellent suggestions for the layout of the new rooms. Our projected start date was delayed by a couple weeks but I was kept informed about the reason for the delay and when work would begin. Once it did begin someone was there working every day until the project was completed. They did quality work, cleaned up after themselves each day, offered helpful suggestions and were patient when we changed our minds. Everyone involved in the project was courteous and friendly, and the finished project exceeded our expectations. S & T turned an ugly unfinished space into a beautiful living area. I will definitely be calling them for future projects.

"It went very, very well from start to finish. We needed to remodel the guest bath in our home after discovering that the bathtub drain had corroded and we developed" a ceiling leak.
performed the estimate and then was our contact for the contract details and choosing the materials in the showroom. I kept changing the contract details and
was extremely responsive and professional. I probably had the poor guy change the contract a half-dozen times during a few days as I kept remembering things to add (I originally was going to pull permits myself and then changed my mind, wanted the county inspection explicitly stated in the contract, already owned a medicine cabinet from another project I wanted to use, etc). After all was said and done we got estimates from several contractors, and VKB was the best by about $1500. We went to the showroom and knocked out the choices very quickly. This was the bathroom the kids were going to use so we let them pick out everything and were pretty unconcerned about it, but there were many, many choices should you be choosing your dream bathroom. The demolition/construction experience was a dream. Really. Let me say that I have remodeled several homes over the years, mostly doing the work myself and hiring subs when it was beyond my capabilities. There are always difficulties. Firstly it was nice to just have someone show up and take care of everything. However, I had heard so many stories about the difficulties of fully contracted projects that I was ready for anything. Not a single problem. Not a one. The work was scheduled quickly and the first day
and
(construction specialists) and Yunus (contractor) showed up on time. They dropped off all the materials and Yunus and I went over every detail of tile, materials, construction, location of fixtures etc etc again to make sure that it was correct.
and
(E and M) were a pleasure to work with. They were professional, punctual, and skilled and kept everything clean and covered. At the end of the day you wouldn't even be able to tell there was a construction project going on.
checked with me on everything before installation ("Towel Bar look OK here?") which was nice because there were no unpleasant surprises which can happen when you are thinking one thing and they are thinking another. I was actually traveling a couple of the days and Yunus sent me photos of the tile and tub which were installed while I was gone. The whole project was completed within 5 or 6 work days, no kidding, including two separate county inspections! And the work was BEAUTIFULLY done.
is a fantastic craftsman. The place is beautiful and the quality of drywall, paint, installation, tile, plumbing, electrical etc etc was beyond expectations. I would hire them again in an instant. Finally, talk about above and beyond. I mentioned the tub leak which had precipitated this whole remodel. While the tub was out, I looked at the floor (2nd floor bathroom) to see how extensive the damage was to the ceiling below. I knew I was going to have to repair the living room ceiling, just wanted to see if it was moldy. It wasn't, which was good, but had obviously been leaking for a while as the drywall was eroded. I purposely stuck my thumb through to see how bad it was, leaving a small hole in my living room ceiling. No problem to me, we needed to do some other drywall repairs and I was going to add that to the list. While I was traveling, they fixed it without saying a word to me. Patched the ceiling. So unexpected. During the final walkthrough, when Yunus was in the kitchen, he saw a hole in THAT ceiling where our master bath had leaked (yes, crappy building grade original plumbing) that we had not yet repaired. He said, "Are we responsible for that?" We assured him that he was not, but thought it was great that he asked. That epitomized the whole experience. So, yes, I would hire them again. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful and well-functioning!

?

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

?
Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

Improvement for bathroom remodel special but had additional repairs needed as well. Bathroom floor was sunken in the toilet area and clear signs of water damage as well. 7 X 5 bathroom was dated and in desperate need of a makeover. Repairs needed to be done quickly, as work was being done for an elderly tenant with this being the ONLY bathroom in the townhouse.

arrived as scheduled to access the situation and give me a quote. They were on time, professional and courteous. They made good suggestions and the quote was very reasonable. All of the work to be performed was itemized and
written up clearly in the estimate. They were also able to "squeeze me in" to make sure that it was completed in the time frame that worked best for me.

This is a great company. The project consisted of demolishing an existing basement bathroom and moving pipes, installing sheetrock, flooring, a shower, vanity and mirror. I have had bad luck with contractors, even those highly rated on Angie’s List, so I went into this big project extremely nervous and worried.

, who did the initial estimate and kept in contact with me throughout, could not have given me better customer service. He was constantly reassuring me and encouraging me to ask questions and raise concerns, even when I suspect some of my questions were pretty annoying. This is apparently the company culture because I also asked a lot of questions and raised issues with the employees and subcontractors who did the work, and each of them was patient and responsive. I am a single woman and never felt condescended to. They kept me posted on what they were doing and listened to my ideas and suggestions. Aside from the customer service, this was a talented group who took pride in their work. This small, irregular shaped bathroom presented a number of challenges with a low ceiling, warped studs, crooked floor, pipes hanging below the ceiling, odd homemade door, etc.

came to the house several times and consulted with the workers, and together, they came up with great ideas. Never did I feel like they just wanted to get out of there and get it over with, unlike some other contractors I have used. In fact,
Fishkill Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
told me that if I have any questions or concerns even now that the job is finished, to feel free to call. If I have to fuss a little, I do wish they would have hung plastic over the doorway to a room I have in the basement, which ended up full of dust. And, I would have liked a few more drop cloths. But, the workers vacuumed and cleaned up at the end of each day and did as much dusty work as they could outside, even though the weather was very cold and they had to run up and down stairs. I would not hesitate using this company again.

The contractor had scheduling problems right from the beginning, a job that should have taken a week stretched out for over 2 months. When the contractor did actually show up he was habitually late, and refused to clean up at the end of the daily schedule. This lead to garbage and scrap obstructing passage throughout the home for the 2 months repair time. The hardwood floor that was replaced was not properly installed on the first attempt, and the contractor agreed to reinstall it. On the second reinstall the floor was installed properly, however the sink was installed incorrectly which caused severe water damage to the new hardwood. When confronted with the mistake, Mr.

They were excellent. Hot tub was installed very professionally. I had concerns about getting tub inside to covered porch and they made it happen without damadge to anything. The workers were all courteous. A few weeks later when I had questions about draining tub and refilling, the father, who is the primary owner. gave me good directions that were clear and easy. I am glad I bought this tub from a family owned business.

Our roof was completed with out much interruption of our living space and time and was kept clean and safe from tripping hazards. Felt they did a great job with regards to our outside project. The flooring took a little longer then expected but the process of removing certain walls created a hiccup and block in time we hadn't expected. The work and redirection of what when and how soon was all handled we felt very professionally. We will certainly use Classic and their team again in the future and feel that
