Air Duct Cleaning Reviews in Brooklyn

Took a bit of time to set up the appointment. They were very punctual once we worked out an actual time. The person that did the work was very professional, explained what he was doing and was very clean.

The "C" grade is due to the dirt that blew back out of the vents once I turned the heating system on as instructed by the technician towards the end of the job. A
of black smoke emitted from the vents followed by thick billows
of dirt. As the room turned grey, the technician commented that the "burning smell" was normal but within 5 minutes the entire room was covered in a fog of dirt. Even the vents covered with plastic wrap on the upper levels belched black dirt covering the white crown molding on the walls. I opened up all the windows but the dirt didn't clear, it’s now everywhere.
This one lapse didn't personally affect me much only because I do not have anything in the building with the exception of a few items in shipping plastic. If you have a fully furnished house, carpets, children, pets, repertory issues or elderly folks living in home, this lapse would have been a very big deal, thus the "C". I’m planning to use 2 industrial strength air filters to cycle the air in the entire building in the next few days. It’s annoying to clean and sweep yet again but nothing serious. If I did have any of the above (furniture, repertory issues) I would grade this service a “D” regardless of the effort. Its possible that the dirt blow back is normal for the system I have combined with age and over all condition however this was not mentioned at the start of the job. Even if he had mentioned it I don't think this is acceptable.
More details:
I purchased the deal from Angies List. I recently purchased the building, its unknown when the ducts were
cleaned by the previous owner. The absence of holes in the mains tells me duct cleaning was not performed any time after the last renovation. The technician showed up 5 minutes early to start work on my 3200 sq ft, 4 story early 1900s brick building. Total work time was around 5 hours, I was expecting two technicians given the amount of work but the tech sent by the company worked efficiently by himself.
I showed the tech the vents on all floors then he headed off pull his van closer to the building. When the technician initially pulled out the shop vac I started thinking I got hustled. Luckily he had more than a shop vac but also used the push-pull method which involves cutting a hole on the main line, attaching a negative air machine at one end of the duct system, then using compressed air or a brush system to push debris toward the negative air machine. None of this was explained to me before or while he was working, I just watched you tube videos to get up to speed. Another thing missing was corner protectors for walls and tarps for floors to protect from the equipment hoses. Since I was going to renovate the walls and banisters wrapped in hoses this didn’t bother me. Make sure you bring this up if your home is in a different state than mine is.

I didn't see the tech use a brush on the ducts, no cameras in the ducts either or scrubbing tools. The tech showed me a photo of a return vent he took with his mobile phone before and after cleaning. The gas powered air tool with cleaning whips was used on the returns, I didn't see this done on each line but admittedly I wasn't standing over his shoulder for the full 5 hours. I didn't want to
over him the whole time plus I was watching his van that was parked out front on the sidewalk. The return vents were cleaned but I don't think all vents were cleaned with this tool. Certainly if the system was fully cleaned then I wouldn’t have seen the dirt blow back as I did. The tech did point out that several return vents needed repair or replacement including some nice handy work by the previous owner where they used dry wall (now missing) rather than a duct. The tech also pointed other things about the system- the wrong size filter, the wrong vent used on the dryer and the exit pipe and so on.
The tech did a great job on the laundry vent, it was in an awkward position behind the dryer but he stayed at it, cleared the lint buildup and replaced some old duct tape with metal. Its a shame about the dirt blow back, I can't recommend this company.

The great thing about Angie's List is that it lets you conduct business with trades people even if you live in another state. Paying the small extra fee for this convenience has proved invaluable. That said, I live in

I tend to observe service people as they go about their duties, as long as I am not in the way. As I watched

and his coworker ply their craft, I was impressed with their thoroughness and attention to detail. Although this is an older house (1899), the ducts are relatively accessible. Before starting, two access openings were cut so that the main vacuum could be attached at the appropriate time to the outflow and return branches leading from the furnace. To my surprise, the work took a while to complete because it was so thorough. After several hours,

and his coworker, patched the access holes, cleaned up any residual debris and was ready for their next job. The bill was exactly as quoted when we set up the appointment. It was a great value. To say the least, I was pleased. Further to my noted satisfaction, as a followup, later that same day, the furnace was cleaned and serviced as an annual ritual. The same service person has done this furnace for at least 35 years. And when I told him the ducts were cleaned and how long the men took to clean them, he was more than impressed and noted that they had done a superb job. I told him I also believed they had done a superb job. I would highly recommend

I called on a Monday for an estimate on installing a dryer duct. They sent someone over on Tuesday morning to do the estimate. They said they were available to do the work on Friday. I agreed to their estimate and put down a deposit. They came on Friday morning and installed the duct quickly and professionally.

They were prompt, professional and fast. They gave me $100 Angie's List discount.

I was very happy with them and would use them again.

The two most important things to know about Avi and his company "No Mold 4 Me" is that they execute their job well and they do it with extreme professionalism.
His containment was top notch. His demolition was thorough but also very careful to avoid the crown molding in our house. Most importantly though was the results. There was little to no

of mold when he was finished.
Avi was also extremely communicative and respectful throughout the process. The people working for him were extremely professional.
Can't recommend them enough.

I like to do my research. & so I felt it was important to have knowledge about mold before No Mold 4 Me started the job. I realized in the end that no matter how much I read about mold, the project manager was so informative and helpful that I ended up putting total faith in the company.
I could tell that they weren't out to get me in any way. They seemed to be there to help me rather than to make a buck. I don't trust too many people. And so I am glad that this company proved themselves. I will be recommending them for a long time.
They were concerned & conscious about my house & my persoanl items. They were conscious about my time.
& They did a great job. Even according to the invironmentalist / industrial hygienist, he was very, very impressed.
I saw the tools and materials they used. They cared about only using the best. Even the way they set up was so impressive. I felt like they built a temporary fortress to protect the rest of my home.
I found at the end that the price was competetive also, which made me feel even better. After speaking to people that had similar situation, they seemed to have spent way more than me & they weren't as happy.

They were punctual and thorough. They checked out the dryer ducts even when we hadn?t asked them to. They had to figure out our whole duct system. They were conscientious and very good.

I used a special from Angie's list. My initial appt. was set up quickly. However when the tech came to do the work his equipment was too large for my system. He said they'd call me back to set up another appt within 2 hours. However, I called them back 4 hours later to set up the new appt. The 2nd time, the tech arrived almost exactly on time, which I really appreciated. He was polite, careful and clean. He also cleaned the dryer duct and recemented the connection of the duct to the cellar wall, at no extra charge.

This was an excellent experience. The mechanics were punctual, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful in answering my concerns about the unit. The owner was friendly, and honest and even allowed the job to come in under the original estimate. As this was my 3rd AC company as the first 2 went out of business. I was happy to learn from the mechanics that they've been around for 10 years and have a lot of experience. This was the experience everyone wants when dealing with businesses so I wanted to share this experience on Angie's list. I found out that although the company has an upstate address, their mechanics are from NYC so their work is primarily here.

I did have to wait for them to arrive, but I know they are busy. The work was fine. They did a good job. They were recommended to me. I have used their services for a long time.
