When I first contacted
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
, I asked if he could replace damaged carpet with some extra carpet that I had on hand. He quoted me a price based on that description of the job. When he arrived, it was determined that the extra carpet that I had was not enough to complete the job.
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and his assistant were able to still complete the job using the carpet I had provided with salvaged (usable) pieces from the damaged carpet that was removed. I did have to pay extra for the additional labor involved in this patchwork-type of project, but it was still cheaper than if I had purchased new carpeting for this space. The finished product looks beautiful! Thank you

I visited the store in West
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
on the encouragement of another hardwood flloor installer who used tp work for
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
. And I understand now why he encouraged me to do so. When you walk in this store you feel like you just walked into a car dealership! There is no browsing in this store. The woman at the reception desk accost you with a stern "may I help you". AN once you free yourself from that you are promptly swarmed by a salesperson. I explained on first contact that I was looking for hardwood floor for a "slab concrete ground floor install" completely understand that this limits your choice of product and install methods. And I explained that I really would like 3/8 inch solid hardwood as my first choice of product, showing the person a sample of a 3/8 inch Wenge hardwood I have received from BR-111 that is no longer available. The sales person greeted me with a frown/furrowed
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and began to tell me how high heels with ding and scatch this very easy....mind you I am a male. no high heels. And had she asked she would have known I am a bachelor with no pets (so I can indulge myself with white furniture and dark hardwood floors). Nonetheless she showed me a few engineered wood floors in dark colors explaining constantly during the encounter that they rarely install dark hardwood floors and reiterating comments about heel
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and scratches at which point I countered that one of the products she was showing me has a jenga hardness of almost 3000 (very hard and durable). All of these options priced out at $11.50 to $14.00 sq foot installed and on average about 1.50 to 2.00 dollars more than other A+ rated installers. She then recommended that I could consider 3/8 inch solid unfinished maple and stain with dark with a "water pop". However, 10 minutes later she began telling me that engineered was the only option "they" would install as they will not service solid (not even 3/8) installed on concrete due to buckling issues from moisture regardless of what the manufacturer says. Hence, 30 minutes into this ordeal she finally tells me that I am not able to get what I came into the store for....3/8 inch solid hardwood.
Now here is where it gets even more odd. I called a few other top rate (A+ on Angies List) hardwood installers who had previously said they will install and warranty a 3/8 or 5/8 inch solid hardwood install and asked them about an install of 3/8 inch unfinished maple stained dark at the on-site. And they all said that even their best installers will not do this given that even with a "water pop" maple stains very blotchy and is nearly impossible to get a uniform dark stain on the job site. That this is only possible with factory/machine stainings (Mirage,
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
etc).
Not only did I find this to be a rather irritating encounter but I ultimately came to the conclusion that the expertise of the installation here is not worthy of an A+ rating given their advice and comments. I think if you are looking for a light colored hardwood floor (3/4 solid on above ground install or engineered) these might be your people if you are willing to pay $1.00 to $2.00 a sq foot more than the other A+ rated Angie's installers

Excellent job. The crew leader was very experienced and knew what he was doing. Installation was great and they did an amazing job of cutting in a replacement section of carpeting where we had a bad stain. They were very clean and left everything in great shape.

I had a terrible experience with this provider. I was very surprised given the very positive reviews on Angies List.
Our job was very
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
. All they had to do was reinstall carpet that we had removed due to some flooding. The carpet was already there, they just needed to put padding down and put the carpet back in place. The rooms were 15' x 15', not very big.
To start out with, their customer service when trying to schedule a visit was terrible. It was like they didn't want the business. I had to call back several times, but I persisted because I had read good reviews here.
Finally they scheduled a date to come - two weeks out, which is fine because I guess they are busy. When they came for the first visit, they didn't have all the materials they needed. So they had to postpone the work by another two weeks.
Then they came two weeks later and still weren't able to finish the job, and had to schedule one more visit.
The workers were not very professional, made a mess everywhere. A different contractor (which I had found on Angies List as well) who did much more complicated work to replace drywall and paint the walls, left the place immaculate after their work. I have written a separate review about them. This job is relatively dust-free because they just needed to install carpet, but they found a way to track dirt every where and leave stains on the walls.
In every visit, they called the morning of the visit date to advise when they would arrive that day (we had no choice), and they never ended up coming when they said they would.
And the worst part - the cost of the work came in almost 15% higher than the initial estimate, and they charged us for having to make two visits to do the work!
Again, the job was not very complicated and I imagine that anyone who installs carpet for a living would have been able to do this fairly quickly and without fuss.

The good things: Their showroom is very nice.
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
works in the showroom, and he came to measure my rooms on the same day that I called. He is knowledgable. Later the same day, I met him at the showroom to choose the vinyl. He cut some transition strips that I needed so that they would fit in my car. That was nice. He was able to fit in an installation appointment just four days later. That was nice that he fit me into their schedule. The installers arrived as promised.
The bad things: The installers had no idea which vinyl pattern to install. They had several rolls in their truck, but they didn't know which one was mine. ( I was not there at the time. My son-in-law was there instead.) The installers called
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
to find out which vinyl to install, but he didn't know either! Then the installers called me, but my paperwork did not specify the name of the color or pattern on it either. The installer said that even if I knew what they name of the vinyl pattern was, it wouldn't help because none of their rolls in the truck were labeled in anyway, so they didn't know what each one was called. In the end, my son-in-law had to give them a key to another apartment so the installers could visually see what pattern was installed in the other apartment, so they could match it to this one. When I called
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
to tell him I was surprised and disappointed they were so disorganized, he was not apologetic, and told me it didn't matter because in the end it all turned out ok. With that kind of response I decided that I would not use them again. Even though the installers eventually figured out what to install, it was unprofessional of them to have such an unapologetic
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
. When a customer is unhappy with a service, it is much better for the company rep to say something like, "I know, we're really sorry for this mix-up". Then it's no big deal. But when the company rep does not apologize and then tells you it doesn't really matter because in the end they figured it out, it's irritating. They seem like good guys, but the inability to say "oops, sorry", just cost them a customer.

was very friendly over the phone and was able to schedule my repair within the same day. He showed up right on time and immediately inspected the rooms to provide an estimate. After considering the cost of replacing the carpet, I was glad to agree to the very reasonable charges. He proceeded to bring in his tools and professional stretching bar (versus a basic "knee kicker"). He was very careful with the base boards and walls as the carpets were pulled up and stretched. With every job there is always a surprise, and
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
encountered two rooms where the original installer did not properly seal the seam and the carpet split about 16". While I began to panic,
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
remained calm and explained why this occurred and that it was easily resolved. Instead of cutting corners, he further split the carpet to fix the remainder of seam using a heat iron to avoid future issues. He tucked the carpet back under the base boards and ensured I was satisfied before wrapping up. He promptly cleaned up his tools and nearly half a garbage bag of carpet trimmings (prior installer didn't stretch nearly enough). I would give
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
a 9.8 out of 10, with the 0.2 deduction only for not vacuuming up the small pieces of carpet the naturally arise during trimming. One could argue that the homeowner would likely vacuum the entire room after anyway, so pointless, but regardless I hope this review shows that

We worked with
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
a year prior to install new carpets in the upstairs of our home and had an excellent experience. We had a flood in our basement earlier this year, which necessitated having the carpets replaced. We initially were going to work with the contractors who were doing the rest of the repair but after visiting their suggested showroom, we decided to go back to
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
, for quite a bit less than the contractors were estimating. As usual,
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
asked a bunch of questions about the intended use, volume of traffic, family conditions, etc. and then recommended only a couple of selections, which made choosing the right carpet so much less intimidating. As was our previous experience, he was professional, his work was impeccable and the quality unsurpassed. His pricing was very competitive. He explains everything thoroughly, takes a lot of time to ensure he eliminates as much waste as possible, and the outcome was just what we expected of him. I so very highly recommend him.

We went to
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
on the recommendation of our next-door-neighbor who had used them and found them to have very good prices in comparison with other stores closer to where we lived. When we went it,
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was very helpful and quickly pointed out carpets that went well with the pillow covers that we had brought in. I noticed that he did not point us to the most expensive products there, but to a mid-quality, which was what we wanted. He also checked and found that at least one item was on sale. One carpet came in in a timely way, but apparently their supplier had just run out of the other one, so it took longer, but that wasn't
Ballston Spa Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's fault. It all worked out fine and was a very pleasant experience overall.
